Hackers are killing this for Xbox

  • @filipisilva360 what i don't get with this post is why do people assume its the pc players who do all the hacking.
ive come across more cheating on console games than I have on pc games ive played

  • Xbox are killing this for Hackers.. Jk

Really tired of seeing this pointless topic daily now. I doubt most of those complaining ever actually experienced a hacker/cheater. It's more likely that they were just bad

  • @colonel-hans i think its hackers but im not sure myself sometimes

  • @restnpieces39 said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:

@colonel-hans why no link to this video? ive put quite a few hours into this game and have yet to come across anyone i felt was hacking on the other hand i've quite frequently been called a hacker when simply outplaying a crew so it seems to me this post is leaning towards the old "he beat me he must be hacking!"

This happened to my BF yesterday. He's good. he's really good. He can 1v4 most crews. SO they just instead called him a hacker and a cheater.

There is a definitely a huge difference between the two. It's just as toxic to accuse people of cheating just because they outplay you.

  • @wipe-nd-clean Well no one calls me a cheater lol. I suck and die all the time. But thanks.

For God's sake, it's full of hacking in this game.

need to have an option for the user to choose whether to either cross-play or not

because it is very complicated to play against pc, full of hacking

So can I (PC player) choose to play on the "console only" option? Because I don't want cheaters either. Or do you get special treatment? Or am I a hacker because I simply dont play the game on your preferred platform?

  • Like it or not folks, crossplay is here to stay. SoT is a standard bearer for this Xbox feature.
Why not help Rare/MS improve the experience, because that what they're going to focus on, not splitting the playerbase.
You see hackers, report them to Support and make it easier for to Rare ban them, that's how we keep this issue in check.

@shrek-t-t I'm not entirely certain but is the rep you get for a chest not linked into the amount of gold you get for it which varies greatly sometimes

Not in my experience. The value of an item seems to be directly tied to the xp gain.

Did you see god mode /One shot /Invincible ship/ speed boost/ teleports / on this video ? When some one asking for video proof we always seeing the same video with visible skels and stuff code and aim for colors.
People know about THIS cheat and Rare working on it, but others rumors about cheats sometimes are just ridiculous.

$9.99 a month and your missing a few. Funny thing is these hackpacks were available for download on the 18th Mar 2018, 2 days before full release. Im starting to think the game companies are selling the bloody things at this stage to get even more dough. I have met a few but there so infrequent that it's hardly noticable. Nevertheless even with an anticheat these hackdevs will have a workaround a day later. After all its not just a one time purchase it's a darn subscription.

Rumor? Nobody can be that naive, As mentioned above we are forbidden to prove via solid evidence on the forums. So when some Random guys says rumor we can just giggle at them
    as our hands are tied.

  • I myself have come across plenty of ppl that have been cheating. I have taken screen shots and video clips of the stuff I've seen in game. The issue is there is no place to report any of these cheaters and let Rare look at the footage to decide for themselves. Letting the players report trolls or cheaters is a huge lacking point in this game and it's not a complicated fix. All these ppl that are claiming it's not true or real and being super rude and saying "post the video or delete the post" are instigating and probably some of the people that are ruining this community. The beta had so many friendly people that would help out and have fun, you had the occasional battle but it wasn't toxic and it was fun. Now as soon as you see someone else it's like they have to attack you and steal everything when we could all be working towards pirate legend. Also before anyone tries to use the excuse "it's a pirate game" or "it's called sea of thieves" I am aware of this. I am also smart enough to know that pirates searched for buried treasure as you do in game and stealing a skull from skeletons or loot from active fortresses and their crew is where the "thieves" aspect of it can come in. No need to use that crutch to justify you adding to the toxic community. Let's add a report system and see some real action on the 7th rule on the pirate code

I'm in the camp that thinks most of these encounters are not hacking/cheating but rather server issues/lag.
On the second topic you mention, help rare/ms improve cross-platform it's been tried but is always triggering a s**t storm. Xbox players are used to an equal play field (everyone has the same graphics, same fps, same controller) so win or lose is purely skill based. Currently cross-platform does not provide that, PC players move faster, jump better, aim easier and can play at 60fps. On top of that they load faster most of the times when coming back from the ferry of the dead. So Xbox people will always suspect hack when they get killed over and over by a pc player while they seem to do no damage to him. But this is probably due to the fact that the Xbox player sees the pc player in a different place than his actual position due to server issues, rendering speeds etc.
Anyway, if this is indeed as you say the flag bearer of Ms for cross-platform games they need to move a large amount of resources into this and balance this out. Otherwise this whole experiment will fail. In my opinion cross-platform play on current gen is only ready for cooperative games not pvp games (even casual ones like SoT).

SOT is not the standard, Crossplay came to xbox at least like 3 years ago and it is in a few games. most of those have the ability to make crossplay optional AND they aren't even shooter games where the competitive advantage of M&K a main factor. Crossplay should be optional for any game where it can offer competitive advantage. I.E shooting mechanics. SOT is going against the standard. Hence all the posts asking for the option.

splitting the playerbase is not the best argument I have ever heard for this reason:
Crossplay is a very rare feature at the moment (number of games made vs number of games that support it.)
It has always been this way since the birth of gaming and consoles... Xbox plays with xbox PC plays with PC Nintendo with Nintendo PS with PS.
Crossplay is a feature that increases your pool of players to play with.
Making it optional would reduce the number of players who crossplay but not eliminate it, WHICH still means you have more people to play with than almost any other game on the market, because every other game is limited to 1 system.

SOT theives could just have easily come out without any crossplay action and Xbox players would be oblivious to any issues and PC would be oblivious to any issues, just playing away. But since it does have crossplay, now making it optional all of a sudden breaks the game? how does any other game without crossplay be successful or have people filling servers? Im so lost

  • @ironman6116 There is a spot.

We all recorded clips and reported both players to Microsoft on the xbox support site and in game.

I also uploaded the DVR clip to the Rare support site. There is a spot to report players and it lets you upload clips.

  • I don't think cross play should be eliminated. Just policed by the community. We should be able to block other sailors we know are cheating. The other night this player on a two man sloop killed our four man galleon while we were finishing up a skull fort. We as a team shot him with blunder, swords nothing killed him. Extremely frustrating when you have spent 45 sailing and clearing a fort out. We all just gave up. Would have been nice to just block both of them and never see them again on your server.

  • @killin0chillin I think nobody wants cross play eliminated, I enjoy too much playing with my friends on PC and Xbox. I think people want the choice, toggle a switch and go to Xbox only servers. I find that fair and wouldn't hurt anyone. And if rare in the end sees that 99% of the players prefer Xbox only servers it would also help them know that they have a problem.

In any case since the forum here seems full of this suggestion and the rating on the Xbox store is also based on people asking for an Xbox only version the minimal thing Rare can do is test on the test server. Make a few Xbox only servers look at win vs lose ratio of Xbox players and then compare them with their stats on mix servers. Then provide the data to the people to either prove to Xbox players there is no difference or adjust the game if they want to keep obligatory cross play. In the end, if Xbox players get fed up and leave we all lose and end up with empty pc only servers 😀.

  • I be seeing no Pirate hackers matey..

  • Xbox player here and have been since beta, never came across any cheating whatsoever in the entire time I've played SoT. It might be ruining your experience but why should we suffer because you met a few bad eggs? I'd be surprised if your claim was even legitimate. 3x is not believable sorry. I have over 100hours clocked and I've yet to even meet a hacker. Not saying its impossible but it is extremely unlikely that you came across 3 in the one play session.

  • @colonel-hans where is is because I dont have any spot in menu and when I google it I dont find anything. I know you can report a player on xbox but it hardly does anything for cheating because they dont seem to really look into it.

Maybe you missed the multiple times where I've said we recorded it.
Just because YOU haven't encountered them doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Time played is irrelevant considering 95% of time on SoT is not spent face to face with rival players. In order to even realize its happening youd have to be in combat close to them, and even then youd need very clear proof to even suspect them of it. Its very hard to notice and likely goes underreported.

In my case, it is undeniable as our capture footage shows, along with subsequent messages from 1 of them taunting that they won't be caught.

MS must've agreed with my assessment because one of the players gamertag is no longer valid.

And "suffer?" In what way would giving the option to disable crossplay cause "suffering" of any kind beyond denying hackers access to ruin console players games?

  • Ive come across it one time. must have been a speed hack or something (minor?) because I was in a solo sloop and they were galleon. they started chasing me so I went into the wind and they were catching up fast? I jumped overboard (they were directly behind me), managed to board and drop their anchor and then harass them for a good 15 seconds till they managed to kill me. (all the while my sloop is still sailing straight into the wind. when i respawn back on my ship they are at the SAME SPOT and closing. a few minutes later they were beside me hurling cannons. only fishy thing I've had happen yet

I continued to turn and try to evade them. gave up after 30 minutes of them continually catching me and firing cannons. I was running out of planks

Might be one of those hacks you can toggle on off/adjust and is just minor enough that most people wont notice and you cant really prove it

  • @avecrux @Restnpieces39 @Sir-Rhavi No, and I think anyone who posts asking for it should be treated just as swiftly & harshly as anyone who posts it.

@Cebelicus had absolutely no posts removed or edited by mods, but he did post the proof you guys (that want to keep the PC crossplay advantage) keep asking for. Another user pointed out that it's against forum rules to post or link to any cheats, so he removed the posts himself immediately before any moderator's attention was brought to it & he was banned for posting it. He fell into the trap, so no, DO NOT POST VIDEOS OR LINKS TO CHEATS like these asshats keep asking for when they know full well they exist. They get you banned & you lose a voice in the forum, which seems to be the intent in asking for it. Avecrux knows. He did it in this very thread.

Asking for "proof" of cheating should be just as bannable an offense!

  • @kovicson said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:

He'd be wearin' two eye patches. One fer each eye!

  • If you think someone is cheating you are supposed to report them through the Xbox live hub on Xbox or app on PC. This informs Microsoft that they need to look at that player's game history. If the offending player is found to have indeed cheated they will be banned. It's simple and I have been using this feature from time to time(there isn't much cheating on Xbox live). It works, and when Xbox live drops the banhammer, it is serious, you can't just make another account. Your hardware and your account get banned from Xbox live, sometimes permanently.

  • @acid182 Exactly I have seen it only a few times. Of course then sometimes lag messes me up, frustrating but not hacking. The main issue is that Rare didn't install an anticheat client, they hopefully will eventually and it should help.

  • G'day @twitchtv-mohky, I've edited your post as it breaches the Sea of Thieves Official Forum Rules; Obscene and Vulgar Language.

Please refrain from using such language within the forums in future, Cheers.

  • Record and report. Really us the best thing to do. The Devs have made it clear they intend to deal with it, just give them time.

  • @nefrit-od i had a friend years ago who used hacks in cs and he would go to the forums and troll people constantly claiming there were no hacks, git gud, lol just like you dude it is funny ill give you that!! haha

  • Personally I believe most of this is related to desync more than anything. I think the number of claimed hacking or cheaters versus real situations of it are probably in the 800 to 1 if not more than that. For example, I personally invaded an enemy Galleon yesterday. There was more near Point Blank Blunderbuss going off than I have seen in a long time with all four players trying to kill me. I was able to get away from all four of them Blunderbuss me with less than 20 damage taken. All the while I was one or two shotting them with Blunderbuss pistol combo. Plus the 3 times I powder kegged them. No hacks obviously, but my ping was rocking at about 45. One of my crewmates was at 300ish and was being destroyed by the same crew that seemingly couldn't touch me so long as I was moving.

  • @sir-rhavi said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:

@colonel-hans video proof? Shooting people point blank and missing can be explained by lag.

anybody 1 shotting you with a pistol that does 55% damage cannot, so provide proof, cause i'm pretty sure you're full of it.
I hit legend last week, pretty sure i have a few hundred hours in this game, and have not met an outright cheater. Couple of laggy people for sure, couple of good players for sure, cheater? Don't think so, and you say you met 3 in one day? Math says no

I agree almost legendary and never meet a cheater to my knowledge, and as you said lagg can be a factor, and to me it also sounds like this guy don't know people on PC can acctually type freely in text chats, and are not restricted to only using the wheel with pre texts. Hell for all I know the crew he did face could of been my crew, but without racial slurs we would never, at max yell out a noob comment together with a laugh or two.
on multiple times me and my mates have done a drive by and just used 1 barrel and 1 guy and taken down a gallion and my mate is telling us one discord, 1 down 2 down 3 down 4 down they are sinking, then also mopped up the first respawer after that all by himself.
The gap in our community in skill and our advantage of having better control over our character in a fps game like this, might seam to some like we are god mode cheaters sometimes, specially if the player they go up against is good.

  • @idzurilia said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:

@nefrit-od said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:. Hacks also don't work for cannons same as they've never worked for turrets, vehicles, or any other stationary object in any game dating back to the beginning of hacks.

Clearly you never experienced hackers in Halo2 with flying warthogs that fired scorpion rounds from the turret.

  • @codplop said in Hackers are killing this for Xbox:

Not saying there are no hackers, but you people keep saying you meet 3-4 A DAY and I've thrown 200+ hours into the launch state of this game and met 0. What are the freaking chances of that? Also, NONE of you have supplied evidence; both Xbox AND Nvidia gpus have DVR capabilities and yet all of you scream cheater and give no evidence, how is that? Are you afraid we'll watch the video and say "uh... yeah, that is how I play, he's not cheating, you're just bad." or what?
