~Tis a short tale, mateys~
There I was, on the wide-open seas, with just enough time for a short, well planned, and hopefully lucrative treasure hunt. I had decided to take on the open seas on a lonely, one manned sloop. I throw down my voyage proposal, vote it in and was surprised to find a 3 island hunt with multiple treasures on each; just what I did not have time for. With hope in my chest I set sail towards my first destination.
Coming up on the first island I spotted half a dozen skellies in the distance, which I made quick work of with my cannon. To my surprise, their comrades surfaced as soon as my foot and peg were on dry land! After dealing with what seemed like an unnecessary amount of enemies, I proceeded to dig up 2 different chests, each dig coming with a handful of new skellies! After fighting my way back to my sloop, I sailed to my next two destinations and made quick work of them.
As I head to the nearest outpost, I took a quick look at my watch; just enough time to make it back to work from my lunch break. Much to my dismay, there is a Galleon parked on the near side of the outpost. I sail out wide to try and stay out of view, finally settling on making port on the opposite side of the already docked ship. I drop anchor and notice a figure coming down the dock, and what does this scallywag have?!, a powder keg; WHY! I have to options, try and pick up anchor and sail to the next outpost, which I do not have time for, or chance it and hope to get one chest turned it. I grab my most lucrative chest and head up the dock. Me and the “powder barrel pirate” meet, locks eyes, and slowly walk past each other, each with an agenda.
I turn in my chest, hear a loud bang, and accept that my loot is gone. I head back to the ship, just in case. As my sloop comes into a view I see the pirate, and we again lock gazes. I pull out my pistol, he grabs a chest, I take my shot, and he disappears to spend the next minute or so on the ship of the damned! My ship sinks, but I have enough time to get all but one chest back to the buyer. I go back for my last chest and as I come down the docks I see the bandit again, waiting patiently beside the gold hoarder. As I draw near to the tent, he waves, I set my chest down and wave back, and it’s at this moment I realize that he is going to let me pass. As a thank you, I pick my chest up, sat it at his feet, and wave goodbye.
~Twas quite a journey for a 20 minute voyage!~
