@crash4654 oh i am very serious and you dont know what an RSA 4096 encryption is, thats really hard stuff to circumvent :- ) , i suggest you to get informed a bit more before you talk with professional IT scientists.
The game desperately needs a non-PvP mode
@lobofh thats fine that you never cheated in your life and that you know so many PC players that dont cheat is really awesome, you are really lucky thumps up
@karstenx1971 well whenever you find one let me know as there aren't IT scientists... Just because it's tough doesn't mean anything. PlayStation had one of the worst personal information breached in history only a few years ago.
As I stated, it doesn't matter how tough it is, people can and will circumvent it.
As for your whole argument of people will cheat because they can, there are many of us who choose not to despite given the opportunity.

You mean this encryption that they broke into 5 years ago with a microphone?
Congratulations, you played yourself.
Absolutely not. Welcome to online gaming in a game that is create your own experience. A Sloop can out maneuver a Galleon and with a coordinated crew your Galleon can out run another. Pro tip, leave one play on the ship at all time with sails up and anchor up, a ship comes along, get to the boat drop sails and g**o, Its not like you don't have time to run, you can EASILY spot ships in the distance. Wanna turn in chests? sail around an outpost have players jump off the ship while the ship still sails, DON'T STOP. The all out PvP makes this PIRATE game worth playing. Never, in the history of Pirates have we heard of Friendly Fred the Peg Leg caring Pirate. Its a pirate game, this right here is what makes it fun. Its not like the ships randomly appear on top of you out of nowhere and you're stuck. As for spawning, it gives you a chance to defend your ship, if done correctly you have a few seconds of invulnerability, use it. The ONLY complaint I have against this game is how you can only have 4 players on a galleon. 5 would be PERFECT. 4 on a big ship isn't enough IMO. I would go 5 on a galleon and 3 on a sloop. No more, then it becomes to easy. If you don't have friends, make some, matchmaking isn't cancer on this game. A lot of helpful crews so far. This game is a cake walk if you learn the basics.
Possible room for discussion but it would be hard to do. A few reasons come to mind:
Ship collisions, would you still take damage?
Enemy ships, if you can't PvP what's stopping them from just running onto your ship and taking the chests you've earned? Or just sitting on the wheel of the ship so you can't sail it yourself.
Risk/reward: Seeing as PvP has more risk, would a PvE have less reward?
Even in PvE there would still be a way to ruin someone's day at a guess. Just my thoughts.
@crash4654 this works only if you have access to the maschine where the decryption happens which is in case of the xbox live network on some server in a big datacenter and not on your xbox at home, else xbox one would be jailbroken, remember , the private key is never send over the network, but i must admit that this was a nice experiment.
I am also sure even if you would get the chance to record a xbox live authentification server on spot in the datacenter the noice of other maschines in the rack would mix with the sound you record and making it useless for a sucessful attack.@karstenx1971 this is also 5 year old tech at the youngest. You're deluded if you honestly believe there isn't something else to decrypt it currently.
Just admit that consoles have cheaters as well and that you're grossly exaggerating pc players who cheat and this entire ridiculous conversation can end.
@crash4654 do you start to struggle ? : -) There is no way to break into actual xbox one or ps4 pro and login with that configuration onto their official network and play there with a custom tailored program, if this would be possibleyou would have shown me videos and screenshots how people cheat on xbox one as i can show you quickly for any major PC game, i think its you who has to admit that there is proof for PC cheating but no proof for xbox one or ps4 cheating , or do you have any?
About "grossly exaggerating pc players who cheat" a recent example is a game called PUBG where 1,5 million cheaters was banned , on SOT there is nobody banned yet, with some basic common sense one can well gauge how many cheaters are active in the PC version of SOT (on Xbox one there is not a single one) atm also in front of the fact that most major cheat seller have SOT in their top 5 sales list already (only for PC ofc, a Xbox one version of the hack will never exist).
The most interesting part in your last message was "something else to decrypt it currently" i assume with "it" you talk about RSA 4096 , what could "something else " be ?
Believe ? Hope ? Illusion ?@splatulated You can't go to a different outpost when you're doing the delivery requests. Those HAVE to be delivered at specific outposts by certain times and when others are camping those outposts it leaves you with literally no options, especially if you're playing solo and you have multiple deliveries to make.
And like someone else said, all I want is a more relaxed, casual mode when I don't feel like dealing with attacks from other people. The game is beautiful and the world is amazing. What if I'm tired after a day of work or I'm experiencing severe social anxiety because I've had to deal with people too much lately and I want to just sail the seas by myself for a while? That honestly sounds amazing and so much fun.
Also, you can still interact with others in such a mode, it would just be entirely friendly which is actually what a lot of real pirate communities were like. They weren't as cut-throat as people think they were. They looked out for each other and they absolutely had "safe spaces". Though I agree that lowering the rewards on such a server sounds perfectly fair. And sure, I might want to switch it up sometimes and have ship battles but that's why you have OPTIONS.
I don't like the idea of making all PVP a separate 'battle royale' server because that would actually turn the whole game into something it was never intended to be. Leave the game the way it is, with its combination of PVE and PVP experiences. Just give us the option when we don't feel like being trolled by bored 12-year-olds.
Adding a casual PVE server wouldn't change the base game at all. Nothing would change for the rest of you so what's the big deal?
@crash4654 said in The game desperately needs a non-PvP mode:
@mythicalfable the npcs are there as a way to supply money in the first place. It's hard to have a player economy if the players aren't given one in the first place and then it can be abused to all hell.
In player-driven economy, players themselves provide the cash. Currency is provided in the almost exact same way like an NPC would reward us, but instead of an NPC, the mate of the player who gave the voyage gives the reward. Players would accumulate gold thorough Player to Player interactions just the way they would interact with NPCs, but on top of this the system needs a basic currency as well which is gathered from the environment; material components. There's more to this concept than meets the eye here.
I don't really want to repeat myself too much so I advise you to get familiar with the concept I explore in my MegaThread and take on each comment I provided for this subject.
You're also restating my opinion. The only way it'll work is if the players make the conscious decision to barter and trade.
Exactly. Which is not what they currently do because commerce is not built in the game.
It can and has been done.
It's never been done in Sea of Thieves because the choice isn't implemented and the current economy model effectively prevents it from happening. Tell me what would be enough of evidence for you to believe what I explained here?
But if a player wasn't going to do it before the system, adding it sure isn't going to persuade him either, he'll continue to loot others as it's less hassle.
That is what I count on them to do. I would be disappointed if they didn't. You mistake me from those who try to force players make a decision to not practise PvP; devs tried to affect player decisionmaking many times over the betas and they still continue to do so, but they will fail there each time unless they fathom the obvious. Some of them must have already done so by now.
My point is actually the opposite. Idea is that instead of trying to control economy and player actions thorough NPCs, they ought to make that optional just like a true sandbox has and provide a simplified form of commerce by the players for the players.
Currently players cannot make the decision even if they wanted to. They cannot reward each other because the current economy model forbids it. Pure PvP players are not interested in commerce anyway so this idea was formed them in my thoughts. No forcing of any PvP player will ever get us to the point of balance. None.
This is where the soft skills of the game come in. How suave are you to give someone else one of your goods for whatever you want or need? It's in the game, you just have to do it yourself
There is no such option available in this game. Further more I don't need to do so if I do just PvP in the current environment this game provides. To my knowledge and depth of reason, this game has the purest PvP form ever conceived. PvP players are not interested in the loot in this game because it isn't tied to PvP so you cannot persuade us anywhere with it. We don't do anything with the loot because we don't care about the rewards you buy with it either. What matters to us is the ability to leave you dead on the island with your precious gold and trinkets the second we get you under our sight and then move on to the next ship.
The only way you can persuade us to not take your head is to provide someone else's head instead. After that we take yours anyway unless you manage to escape let alone talk your way into this the first place. You have zero resources we need to defeat pirates with or make us better at it. This is why it doesn't matter what you offer and why those interested in the pure PvP won't be swayed by a parley.
I personally may want occasionally to approach some exploration and voyages because that's part of what I am interested in as well, but I am so handicapped by this current system that even griefers have more fun than I am. This is directly in line with the fantasies we act out. Some fantasies this "sandbox" was meant to deliver weren't delivered at all. Some overlap with each other unnecessarily and the Pirate Legend... well, that will make a mess if it forces players to act out fantasies they don't want to take on. For example forcing pure PvP players to do PvE instead of what they could now do will make them leave; 100% certainty. A game that relies on PvP element to make PvE work dies at that point.
The only ones you can make a momentary truce or an alliance with are those crews that don't focus on pure PvP. However, that is as far as you can go with them.

My bad experiences were at an island not an outpost. I didn't see them coming because I was on the island. The next thing I heard was cannon shots and they were shooting my ship from behind. That's it. In the first few hours of gameplay I could complete voyages and have fun on my own. A relaxing experience even, I would say. Then two (2) other players spawned into the same instance and my last few hours were completely wasted. The more people play the worse this will get. I have to play in order to write the review but after that I'll quit the game because this is not what I play games for. Huge disappointment for me design-wise and I blame Rare's lack of experience in this kind of games. What sounds fun on paper isn't necessarily fun in reality.
I cannot imagine how you can write a review of a game that you clearly do not understand. You are looking for something completely different than what the game is offering. Like writing a review of a chophouse restaurant when you are a vegan.
Not the customer's fault if the restaurant tried to please vegans without enough experience.
@dreampage Looks like this game isn't for you. It's a PVP game with PVE additions. Try Sid Meier's Pirates.
@padd said in The game desperately needs a non-PvP mode:

Incorrect. It's literally a PvE game providing optional activities glued together with the purest optional PvP experience I've never dreamed to have. Brilliant really.
@dreampage Is this the reason why I cannot get any further then crew match? The game will not even allow me to sail alone. I am so completely frustrated at this point I'm ready to ask for a refund
All I have to say this.. is ... simply go play a PvE MMO. What else did you expect from this game? If this game were PvE Only.. it would be garbage. Sorry not sorry. This is why console players can't have nice things.. its because they never played Rust on PC. Want to appreciate Sea of Thieves more? Play Rust on the PC... you'll come back comfortable.
@padd said in The game desperately needs a non-PvP mode:
@mythicalfable Nah, definitely PVP, hence why people who are scared of other players want PVE only.
Correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation.
Some players want PvE only because they literally think it is the best way to solve the issue they are having here. It's that simple whether it is a correct or an incorrect conclusion to arrive at. Mind you that they aren't incorrect about how efficient it would be. They are absolutely correct that it will solve their issue. That is exactly what it would provide. However, some of them may not fathom the importance of pure PvP, which griefers currently utilise very efficiently to grief players, to this very specific game. Griefers are the reason PvE and PvP players are up against each other here. PvP is literally the glue that keeps the PvE activities so thrilling. Without pure PvP, the game would die very fast. Question is how to arm players against griefers and how the environment could kick em harder as well without burdening both PvE and PvP players.
You wouldn't need a non-PVP mode if the PVE was engaging enough to keep players occupied - that was the premise of the game. A group of pirates off on their own adventures who may encounter other pirates randomly in the world. The problem is that the adventure wears thin and the only exciting, unpredictable content is fighting other players.
Lets make PUBG non pvp aswell we ll have cars and houses, and we could switch the weapons for food that we could trade with other players, and while we are at it why not League of Legends aswell, all that minion fighting and destroying nexus really leaves a itch in my v****a wouldn t it better if we all just stayed at base and the minions could dance and make campfires together and we could all chat and be friends! In fact why not OVERWATCH aswell, i mean all those guns and shots, i say its time to say NO! ENOUGH! NO MORE PVP! PVP GAMES ARE DEAD! I totally agree with someone who said earlier that people just play PVP games for 3-4 days and then they get bored! COMPLETLY AGREE based on this 3 examples!

EXACTLY!! ...umm, sorry for my excited reply. I just wanted to tell you how well your comment was assembled. Loved it. I would have said that the reason why PvP is so attractive in any game that allows players to utilise it, is because of the element of surprise and changing tactical element of the resistance. This is where the endgame is and always will be... PvP.
I think you just need to work on your evasion skills if you want I can team up with you guys and try to help the best I can!
@geministatic I have played Rust on PC along with a ton of other PVP PC games and my experiences there are exactly why I want a PVE mode lol.
@gigglesnarf said in The game desperately needs a non-PvP mode:
It wouldn't be a sea of thieves if you couldn't steal.
Sadly the other side of the coin should be equally considered too. Players who want to cooperate don't have as strong leverage as PvP players have in its simplified perfection.
This is why I suggested a player-driven economy as the solution so that they at least would have more refurbished leverage to act out their fantasies. Like if only players, other than ourselves, could reward us the voyages we are hired for and give us reward options instead of simply showcasing every single cosmetic they have.
It's just too much information on screen especially in a game that is supposed to have only cosmetic rewards with tactical value in it. Makes it super boring to follow. Zero surprise value at best. Makes me feel like I already own them and that is very detrimental. Hence an economy model that utilises players themselves, activity specific titles, simple reputation gain for the sake of sheer dedication and a choice infused reward system would tilt the scale into balance.
