Sound not working

  • Hi!

I played the alpha and didn't notice any larger h**k-ups. Now when I start the beta the sound works in the beginning but stop working directly after I choose ship (solo or crew). And dosen't work when the I'm in the game either. Is this a known bug? Couldn't find anything on the forum on this.

Sound Device: Sound Blaster Recon3Di. Never had any problem in any other game.

    Regards,
    Cpt. Bob

  • I am experiencing the same issue, did you find a fix?

  • I have the same problem. But only apends when i try to use voice chat on wireles headfones. Im on pc, jbl headfones. Please help.

  • Same here. Sound works and when in the menu to select your ship, gone. Using a Sony Bluetooth headset..

  • I also have the same issue, a pop up appeared asking if I wanted to allow Microphone, I clicked yes obviously, and then NO sound.

  • @FreddeY2K - I think I figured out the fix. Do the following:

    1. update all drivers associated with your SFX card, and your headphones if you have them
    2. If you have firmware, update that on your SFX card or headphones
    3. If using Bluetooth, update windows bluetooth driver in device manager
    4. Make sure you have all updates on windows
    5. go to Playback Devices, select your SFX Card, Headset, Headphones and then click on the playback devices properties.4
    6. Go to advanced, then under Exclusive Mode uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"

I have a wireless Bose QC35ii headset, and I realized it worked with every other game, so it was "exclusive" to Sea of Thieves, so my old IT days kicked in. I hope the fix worked for you as it did for me.

  • Sorry to bump an old thread but I just recently got the Sony wh1000xm2 bluetooth headphones and they work fine when hardwired but cut out just like the above says when picking ship type. I tried the above recommendation and it made it to the load screen before cutting off the sound to the headphones. I don't mind using the cable but it would be nice to get these working via bluetooth. Any recommendations?

  • I am also experiencing this. I tried the solution mentioned above, but it did not work.

  • I have tried the suggested solutions to get the sound back for my game but it still doesn't work for me. Just wondering if anyone else found a different solution to this problem. I can't play the game without sound so any help is greatly appreciated. I also have updated all drivers and windows, disabled the exclusive control option, and I have the Sony WH1000XM2 bluetooth headphones if that helps.
