Making Skeletons Fun Again

  • Hey folks, I think it’s time to make skeletons a bit more fun with two simple changes that won’t require creating anything new.

    #1: We need to give Skeleton Lords their blunderbuss back. They actually used to be an exhilarating encounter that got a laugh out of me because their blunderbuss attack was genuinely dangerous and fun to go against. As soon as they pulled that gun out, you knew to run away. Now, I mindlessly sword or shoot them and they are not very threatening. This is less fun.

    #2: Eye of Reach skeletons need to return to roaming on the ground. Whether it be emergent skeletons or voyage skeletons, these should roam islands again. Long ago they were banished to only be at the top of the skeleton ships because they were powerful. These guys were also pretty scary and fun to encounter. Would love to also see them return for variety and a better challenge against regular skellies.

    I wouldn't mind honestly. Though I can only imagine current/recent soy snowflake playerbase crying about Skellies aimbotting and PvE being "too difficult" 😂

    Hell, just a few seasons ago there were people whining on the forum about ancient megs being too hard when solo slooping. Then after that cried in Smugglers update about frequent patrol/emergent Skeleton ships that could be soloed in 30sec - 1min (and basically super-farmed) just by detonating their own Smuggler kegs.

    Now what would happen if you added emergent skeletons that also shoot at them from EoR?

    They'd be in ER and on oxygen, with probably 2 pages of prescriptions after that. 😷 While mods would be working overtime with 6-pack Red Bulls at hand having to merge "ReMoVe SkElEtOn BB/EOR" and "I'm QuItTiNg!" threads for at least a month. 😅

  • I like to add the random spawns of skeleton keg holders.
    Yes they do spawn but not enough.

  • They should bring back the old FOTD skeleton spawns where each wave had multiple skeleton colors.

    Maaan, let them cry for a bit haha. There’s plenty of tools in the game nowadays to counter them in a wide variety of ways.

  • Love the idea of roaming eye of reach skeletons. You shouldn't be able to just stay on your boat and pick skeletons off one by one while they stand around in the shallows not doing anything.

    To be fair, they are poorly balanced for solo's imo. I only tackled them with the Purple Sticks recently. Fire Meg especially.
    Attacks too frequent when trying to repair ship damage below meaning damage just stacks up leading to inevitable death as unable to repel the next attack.

    Big disadvantage not having a helmsman able to adjust spin when trying to meet the rotation of Meg.

    They existed on islands in the past. They were fun to go against.

    Ooh but you know…then they have to learn to adapt, try new things and actually use the other tools they say “worthless”. XD
