I don't want explosives on my ship
No one is going to force you to do the missions.
95% of the time I have kegs on my boat, rarely any issues from players setting them off.
Streamers say not to carry kegs, so I think a lot of players don't look for them on boats.
I think it's more fun to carry them and we have sank many boats with them.

When an entire update centered around adding new stuff is just extra keg voyages from a group with literally no lore significance or foreshadowing, you either do them because it's new, or you don't because it's not a good content update that truly adds to the primary game loop.

They say don't do it because they will look for/find them and blow them up. They want you to challenge them with proper naval and on-deck combat, not give them a free win because your idea of fighting differently is practically self sabotage.
If there are no new tools or challenges with them, that they are just a recolor, then sure not a good season. But I am looking forward to it. My hope is they are a new faction that has unique play styles/commodations centered around that. For instance, stealing items without sending the other crew to the ferry or sinking their ship.
So think about smugglers in pirate pop culture, how the game currently works or could work and give Rare some ideas. Keeping in mind they probably already have ideas, help shape them.
