When you vote on fighting a bigger ship when you become champion, you should get more gold or more reputation in that company. It feels less rewarding to fight someone bigger and get the same reputation.

+1. There should be some reason to entice player(s) to vote on a bigger ship. I've asked several people "why not try bigger ship" and the answer is usually "because there is no point"
While I find the point to be the glory of the win, it's not worth risking the loss in gold/rep and the streak for most, as there is nothing extra to be gained by taking on the challenge.
Why not have a title associated or commendation to add onto a boost in reward. Defeat 5 larger ships as champion to unlock the title.
The risk/reward here is just not worth the hassle for most without a change.
@astralenigma this is a misnomer, it mentions champions but actually other faction is all that is needed. There's one for defeating one champion if I recall.
*edit might be one needing 5 total but the one that needs 100 definitely doesn't need actual champions
