Burning Blade needs some changes

  • Burning Blade was a super awesome addition this season, but it needs a few quality of life changes.

The most obvious change that the Burning Blade needs is to make other world events available at the same time as the Burning Blade.
Currently the Burning Blade cannot spawn when other world events are active or have other world events spawn whilst it is active. This not only greatly reduces the chance of the event spawning, but also pigeon holes players into dealing with the Burning Blade even if they don't want to. Once a competent crew takes control of the Burning Blade, it locks down the server making it a requirement to deal with them if players want to complete other world events, or forces players to change servers. The Burning Blade crew would also be free to do other world events instead of having to commit to performing rituals once the ship has been taken over. This would allow the big warship to actually be used in offensive naval combat instead of only being used to defend itself once an enemy attacks whilst performing a ritual. Very few of the fights regarding the Burning Blade are because the Burning Blade itself engages, most of them happen due to another crew engaging with the Burning Blade.

The Burning Blade should also be allowed to vote on the map table for the previously mentioned reason of being forced to do rituals.

Players should also be allowed to claim the Burning Blade from another crew once sunk. This would give players who wish to control the Burning Blade a reason to engage in combat with the ship instead of just server hopping.

The sword dropped by the Burning Blade should also gain value from completing rituals instead of having its value be entirely determined on how many rituals the owner of the Burning Blade completed before sunk. This would in turn make sinking the Burning Blade be less pointless. Currently sinking the Burning Blade instead of crewing it provided minimal value to the person/people who sunk it. Having the Blade itself gain profit from rituals completed would make sinking the Burning Blade instead of crewing it actually worth it. It'd also make the commendations requiring selling a Burning Blade sword with 3+ rituals more doable.

Kinda the whole point of the event itself, it’s driving player engagement. If you don’t like the fact the blade is on one server, chuck down a voyage and dive to another, simple.

  • bro sat here for like a 30 min to make this but i agree

  • I get why other world events aren't happening... cuz Lore Wise the Burning Blade crew would not be... attacking Flamehearts Ghost Fleet... or Attacking Flamehearts worshipers at a skeleton fort. (Though you can activate the Fort of the Damned if you really want to do a world event).

But they do need to work on the process to vote to take on the crew, cuz it can easily be done by a Solo Slooper tucking on it waiting for the Gallon Crew to finish the kill. Should require your ship to both be present,

Also voting it down should be prevented with other crews are present. Flameheart could say something cheeky like "If you can't take out those rival crews, you don't deserve the reward"

  • The one other thing that needs to happen...

Don't allow the Burning Blade crew to vote down at the Reaper Hideout, if there is another ship nearby.
So many people start running and vote down so quickly, and it is impossible to lock them down and sink the Burning Blade before they can vote.

That would make it impossible to vote down if there is someone tucking on the Hideout, waiting for the rest of the crew to sink it.

  • @lem0n-curry I ment like how hourglass works, if their ship is nearby you cannot vote down.
But i frased it the wrong way. My bad.

  • @cpt-sockmonster

    Then…nobody will wanna play reapers.
Voting down. Quickly is one of the only special perks.

You could though, outsmarts Flameheart, place a few kegs and blow them sky high. By the time they respawn it be too late.
    Works every time

  • @burnbacon
    What are you on about?
Being able to run at the first sight of a player to vote down quickly is the only special perk is has?

There are a great number of people that love to run the Burning Blade, because of PvP & PvE that is the point of the Burning Blade.

    • To create player engagement to defeat the Burning Blade, a player controlled world event.

    • The Burning Blade does PvE while it defends from Players trying to claim it's rewards.

I think you forgot that the ship is a absolute tank with a decent/good crew on board, and kegs won't do anything, unless its swabbies that have no awareness while their ship is hard anchored.
The problem is when a crew starts running to the hideout, you are not going to do anything about it. There is no punishment for being greedy with all the skeleton camps you grind.
If a pirate runs with a valueable piece of treasure, you can atleast try and cut him off from selling. But with the burning blade, you have to sink it before they vote it down. Good luck!

The Burning Blade won't sink in time and they have all the time in the world to vote down with skeletons infinitely repairing. Especialy if its a good crew that runs for whatever reason, you wont be able to do anything.

    This needs a fix asap.

  • BB is the slowest ship on the sea. If you cant catch it, thats your fault.

If they make it so they cant turn it in when other ships are present, someone can just run doughnuts around Reapers while other ships respawn indefinitely and take them down.

  • Agreed. You can turn in every other piece of treasure in the game regardless of the distance other players are from you, even if they're right on top of it. The Burning Blade should be no different.

There's just too many ways other crews, especially numerically superior crews in the instance a one- or two-person sloop has been able to defeat it and pledge, could make it entirely impossible to turn in.

So if you can't get to the Sovereign and stop them before the other crew turns in a Chest of Fortune, that's on you. You don't deserve a long, complicated process for them to turn it in so that you "have a better chance at stealing it". This is the same principle.

  • @reverend-toast definitely agree about voting it down point
