"Out of Memory" error message?

  • Long story short, I got Sea of Thieves recently (I've been seeing this game everywhere for years now and finally caved and got it on my PC), I downloaded it on Steam and I'm immediately met with problems. Upon launching it immediately crashes with an error message that reads "Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting..."

Mind you, I have a very powerful PC. It has an Intel i9 14900k, NVIDIA RTX 4080, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, etc.

The game goes through the launch sequence with the Easy Anti-Cheat and whatnot but then crashes with that error message, it can't be a hardware issue since I've played way more graphically intense games with zero issues, can someone please help me and set me straight on this whole thing? I just wanna play this already lol
