I am resisting every temptation to say every rude thing that comes to my mind while typing it so to the people in the forums who are commenting, don't push me for once. Recently the PS5 pre order bonuses were announced and in a very greedy way someone decided to make exclusive cosmetics for pre order on PS5 and this is one big middle finger to the long time players because the loyal players don't get them but instead the playstation community gets them I doubt anyone will take this seriously [Mod edit] and I tend to stay away from here but not this time as much as it seems like a small thing (pre order console exclusive cosmetics) but it's not just because of an exclusive cosmetics set but because this is such a greedy money making decision and rare is a good company and I swear and mark my works if this happens it will go down further and further and rare will just be another hated company like Bungie or activision or ubisoft and every time it happens to a company I love, it builds up more and more hate and once a decision like this comes far enough you can't get the community back because at that point they hate your company so please rare be better than those other companies.

@elextrov They are trying to attract new players to the game and that is a legit way to do it. Don't forget that every service company offers bonuses or discounts to new clients.
I was never as big on cosmetics as some others in the community but do like collecting things.
At some point I just had to look at the game as being something that was no longer realistic for collecting.
They now have content I don't wanna play, they have giveaway items I don't wanna get involved in, they have codes for cosmetic stuff that I don't really wanna follow closely.
It takes a while to get comfortable with that but once the habit is broken the game becomes more enjoyable imo.
That's just how I went about it, I find that if I look at things as logically and reasonably as I can it becomes easier to not be as frustrated about things I don't like or things that would frustrate me if I think about them a lot.
@metal-ravage yes most companies do this and I know that but also it's usually not something the long time fans can't get and ignoring the point I just made it is a very greedy thing that doesn't need to be exclusive to work in fact it would do amazing on PlayStation without any exclusive bonuses.

There was pretty much a 100% chance that they were gonna do something exclusive for the big ps5 deal.
It was always gonna happen, it won't happen a lot but it'll happen sometimes and this is one of those times.
People will be frustrated for a while but they will move on from it eventually and continue trying to get cosmetics that are more realistic for their situation.
@elextrov No company has "fallen" by offering preorder bonuses, especially if they are just cosmetic. In fact, this game has already done it several times. Black Dog Pack, Ferryman Pack, Duke Ship Set, Midnight Blunderbuss, those sails packaged with the RPG + Expansion, etc... all offered for buying something specific or before general release.
I don't have them all, and I'm not going to re-buy the game on multiple platforms just to get them either. If they allow existing users to buy them in stores, great. If not, oh well.

You literally said "other companies have fallen", and I said they haven't.

Your evidence is 3 games that all have more monthly players than Sea of Thieves?

@elextrov You being sour at a company doesn't equate to them having 'fallen'. They still sell millions of copies, support their games and rake in tons of money - and this isn't me being biased, as I don't even like any of the games you mentioned.

This seems like such a small thing to get so worked up about, especially given the number of no-longer obtainable cosmetics that the PS5 players have missed out on.
It's not like they're even setting a precedent going forwards WRT platform specific cosmetics, this is a one off thing for PS5 pre-orders....if anything it's in keeping with the precedent set by the Brave Vanguard cosmetics for the game's initial release.

I'm not sure why you think I didn't?
Your first point was at the exclusive cosmetics:

Hence, my response was that this is most likely a one off thing, in keeping with previous pre-launch precedence, rather than setting a new precedent about future platform exclusive cosmetics.

I think you’re on your own with this one my man. I don’t think anyone is concerned that PS5 players are getting a special cosmetic or whatever. Also, as D3ADST1CK pointed out above, they’ve already offered exclusive cosmetics to those who’ve purchased various things. Has SoT since “fallen”?

IF Rare starts doing platform specific cosmetics (as opposed to pre-release specific cosmetics), then I think everyone will complain. Until that happens (and I don't think it will happen), it's not worth the stress.

Give yourself some time and ride it out. You're always worth riding it out and then things settle and it'll be alright.
