Worked 12 hour day. Had some time to play in the evening, maybe 60 mins. Picked up a midlevel merchant quest to shuttle some small number of crates of textiles and bottles on my sloop to a nearby island.
Set sail and spied another ship leaving the destination when I got within sight of it. Slowed down, sent some emotes and messages to emphasize not hostile. They responded ahoy and made no immediately aggressive moves.
A chance for sure but felt reasonable to try to dock and drop to complete. Waving and messaging. No shots. No approach. Friendly emotes.
On approach they asked to form an alliance. Responded that didn’t really have time but thanks. No thanks but good luck to you.
Make an alliance with us or else….
Sorry can’t.
Pulled up to dock.
Your “treasure” is mine.
I have 4 quest crates only, nothing else.
Jumps on ship. Shot dead.
Respawn.
Killed again.
Respawn.
Ships on fire. Crates gone.
Try to raise anchor. Try to put out fire.
Killed.
Asked “Can I go now”?
We just wanted your supplies.
I had maybe 10 each wood planks, cannon balls and bananas. Nothing else.
Then why is my ship on fire and there isn’t a single wood plank I can use to repair it?
We’ll leave you alone now.
Got fire out. Sailed to another nearby island to scrounge for a single needed wood plank (the island where all of this happened had only empty barrels). Bailing on the way. Found one just in time to keep ship from sinking.
No time left for a voyage or anything else.
Welp, it’s time for bed.
Epic.
