NOTE: This is a highly experimental idea that I thought of just now that expands in my Ocean Crawler Curse and Ship Curse ideas from a while ago.
Following a Sunken Kingdom revamp, new commendations are added. Completing these grants you a new voyage from Larinna, sending you to investigate the Sunken Citadel from the Sunken Pearl.
Exploring, you find hundreds of Cursed Mer Statues and sunken ships.
Entering one room with 1-4 statues, depending on your crew size, the door slams shut, the room fills with water, and you are surrounded by sirens. Trapped.
As you and your crew are restrained and forced into the statues, an amused Siren Queen gives a speech about “how foolish you were to come here.”
As you are forced in the statues and Siren Gems are implanted in your chest, the Sirens begin to sing.
When you leave the statues, you are transformed, your skin blue-gray, your eyes huge, glazed and yellow, and random coral protrusions. Your clothes are now mere seaweed rags.
You can still customize your hair and beard, and Skeleton Curse-like cosmetics may be earned through more commendations.
In the same cutscene, you mindlessly watch your ship get dragged down by the Kraken, and the Siren Queen gives you your orders: go to the surface world and lure more pirates to this fate.
When you resurface, your ship is coral-encrusted and moldy, much like the Silverblade. You sail back to the Sea of Thieves to serve your new Queen.
This would be the first curse ceremony to let your whole crew participate and be “involuntary”.
