As many already know, with Season 8, server selection is very important. Depending on the time of the day, some servers will have little to no players active, and at other times they will be the only servers getting matches. And when factoring your elo/mmr into the mix, it can be actually impossible to find a match at certain times of day.
Due to this, many active and long term players have been using a VPN to swap servers. This solves the issue for those few players, and it helps for a time, but for new players just getting into the game it can still be a waiting game.
I know already that the suggestion has been passed around just to make the Americas queue to all of American servers, and EU to all the EU servers. I suggest a different solution, similar to what BSG does in Escape from Tarkov, allow players to individually select the servers they are fine with playing on, and sort them by ping for players ease. EFT does this by allowing players to select specific boxes from specific cities, but Sea of Thieves can be much more broad, so just selecting US East servers, US West Servers, US Central Servers, UK Servers, and so on.
That way players can get into the broadest matches possible, while also accepting the ping that comes with it right off the bat. As well, if it were an option, servers could come auto selected with under 80-90 ping by default for new players. This would drastically improve wait times, and actively improve the gameplay experience for players new and old.
