Let us Spawn Megalodon's

    Rare at this point in the game the Meg commendations are almost all near impossible. I have averaged 1 Meg every 8-12 hours of gameplay this is becoming really upsetting for not only us players going for all the commendations but also players who just enjoy megs. It is extremely clear to the player base that megalodon spawn were reduced with the addition of more content, but can we at least finally have a way to spawn a random megalodon so we can still actually go for the commendations and enjoy them. Make it anything from an item that drops from world events (like the flare for the adventure) or sea forts, or a new voyage type with collecting meat and throwing it in the ocean.

    Since at this point it is blatantly no longer enjoyable to not be able in any reasonable way fight megs or complete the commendations. At this point it is just a BAD gameplay mechanic relying WAY to much on RNG.

    But I couldn’t go between two islands that should take 5min to travel without a Meg spawning on me.
    Not really random or more bad luck/good luck?

    I am also doubtful they were reduced as I just spent 2 hours hunting them and killed 10, trying to sell meat

    Even on a bugged server where megs spawn more than usual back when meg spawns were consistent and more common I've never seen more than maybe 5-6 in a 2 hour window of high activity organic play and that was incredibly rare. When this happened it's also not always different megs, it's often just the same few megs popping back up with another spawn animation.

    Only ones that pull in high numbers anywhere close to that are alliance servers that produce contrived results. I'm assuming you weren't doing an alliance server meg hunt.

    This seems a little fishy even for a fish tale

    There has been a marked decline in the population 😔

    I would like to see then become more vicious. Chasing us closer to islands. Maybe 2 at once.

    6 months ago I had 2775 megs on the stat sheet going off the site.

    I currently have 2966.

    Rng spawn hunting has been one of my things since stats started on the site so my overall gameplay remains comparable, time played is comparable

    191 megs in the last 6 months

    numbers I could have done in 2 months or less before

    For me it is what it is, I'm gonna hit the 3k I intended to, I hunted the shrouded like I intended to. I had my opportunity.

    but for others they simply will be put through a significantly more time consuming and less rewarding environment with the current spawns. With the shrouded being such an integral part of the hunt and experience I think it's incredibly unfortunate that these spawns are declining for people that are just starting out and those that haven't found the shrouded yet.

    I would definitely love to have some new voyage for calling megs, it's an awesome idea. Or at least they should increase their spawn rate. It's not like they're a huge problem if you don't want to deal with them, you can easily escape.
    I recently returned to this game from a break and in ~50 hours I saw only one megalodon, that instantly despawned for some reason. The seas are just too damn calm.

    A couple of times my crew and I played the song "summon the megalodon" and maybe it was just a coincidence but the megalodon really show up. We thought that maybe we can summon it like that and actually manage it a couple of times. I don't know is a valid game mechanic and there is a small chance to really summoned it or it was just a coincidence each time.

    Megalodons are giant, technically extinct sharks that are poached by pirates everywhere. Logically, they shouldn't be common.

    Rather than then "spawning", I'd love to see them just out and about on the Seas....I think it would be awesome to see a giant fin, and if it happened to be white with pink tinges....well all the better

    Spawning the various megs could be a voyage (except the SG coz of lore) if the Hunters Call got voyages. BUT they should not count towards accommodations (would not be fair to those who have grinded). The dead meg should drop a fin for the reward.

    Other hunters call voyages could include hunting the kraken, giant land crabs and ocean crawler/siren's variants (sort of like skelly captains) that require tracking them down.

    Hunting down map fragments/riddles to find a fishing spot for rare fish etc.

    There is less meg in those time than in previous months...
    I usually kill approx 100 megs per months
    Since the "Stone Fort" has appear i'm meeting less meg , approx 65 per months...
    With some friends we have just compared our Meg spawn location and I've compares it with my old data (I'm researcher for MerfolksLullaby & Ancient Isle University) some locations won't spawn a meg (but before it could) ... So There is less "zone" where meg could spawn.

    I haven't change my way of playing at SOT .... I'm just AFK for Megalodons..... cause i have nothing else to do ... just kill 3 more shrouded ghost....

    Btw ,it's the only commendation which can't be farmed (cause there is no quest , no worlds event dedicated to meg etc...) it's just a random encounter between 2 worlds events.

    It will hard for Hunters to finish their commendation... Not specially Shrouded as the spawn average time for a meg spawn as increased too... (Before Spanish fort : 1 meg per 74 min / Now : 1 meg per 110 min) Or maybe I'm just unlucky... But speaking with other Hunters , they meet less megs too

    I hope that one day, We will be able to farm megaladons ( Maybe a side quest as hunters : They could give u a quest with some fish to catch (as it was for an event 1 year ago) and you could have a Megalodon in this quest (low spawn rate, like wood crate).

    @miserenz grinded what... there was no grinding that's the problem. This would spawn a random meg and actually give you a way to grind them out.

    And with the new updates it is far from fair considering megs spawn at a considerably lower rate now.

    @burnbacon yeah this seems like a blatant lie... The Hunter Call Discord server during meg hunt used to average 1 and hour...

    @mr-whaletoes then logically there should not be commendations to kill 200 of them and 5 extremely rare ones with a 1/1000 chance...

    There is a point where it is just BAD game design.

    Putting "bad" in all caps doesn't really help your point
    Personally I'd rather not have megs spawn on me all the time
    A few more probably wouldn't hurt tho

    I put in a support ticket about this so I hope Rare take it seriously. Love battling megs but I can’t do that if they don’t spawn on me.

    Would like to see megs become a part of regular part of regular voyages. Imagine doing a lost shipment then suddenly discovering just how they sunk or following the Way finder compass when suddenly it starts circling your boat.

    I was talking about players that have spend days sailing around and around until they get a meg to spawn. Done that more hrs. than they care to count to finish off the meg commendations. Those players maybe be rightly annoyed if new players could get a voyage to go straight to a spot to get said meg. But your pitching a random meg would be a fairer if the RNG was lower for the rare ones & slowly scaled up to the current RNG as you leveled in hunters call.

    Also does anyone know if two or more Megs at the same time are possible?

    Like the skellie ships, some spawn on you, some are out there...I'd like that...

    I literally had 3 over the last 10 hours of game play after a massively long dry patch of weeks. Here's hoping its been upped again.
