Are Tall Tales all designed to do them in 1 sitting?

  • Hello all,

So I am fairly new pirate to the game.

The other day I started my first Tall Tale (The Shroudbreaker).
After couple of hours I brought the statue to the Mysterious Stranger ... a popup came up for completed deed and a checkpoint.
The stranger then sent me to see somebody named Bigsby? .... but I ran out of time, so I figured great, I will continue the tale next time.

Just now I logged in the game and wanted to continue my tale.
Wow ... a surprise ... the tale has nothing saved ... I have to start it all over again. Really?

Do the game developers think we all have HOURS AND HOURS just to play this game? I mean ... sure I understand the concept of "sandbox" games, but I have RL ... a family ... children.
I can't play more than a couple of hours per week (mostly weekends), and I read that the Tall Tales are great for such players (PVE, checkpoints etc...) .... so where is my checkpoint?

I really hope the game does not require me to do 3+ hours of play (like the new adventure), because in the end ... I will just stop playing ... games are my relax time, not my job!

    Regards,

The checkpoint should be next to the option where you can pick a voyage you bought.

Go to the quest table on your ship, select Propose Quest, select Tall Tales and there should be your checkpoint.

  • @nambr9

It sounds like you completed the first TT. So Chapter 2 is at Plunder Outpost, in the OoS tent.

Each TT will give you checkpoints you can use your voyage table to finish if you run out of time and need to finish later

TT did not originally have checkpoints so they were designed to be single session. Each one can be completed in about an hour. I've soloed all of them before the checkpoints were added lol

  • @nambr9 you finished the first tall tale! Or actually you finished chapter 1 of "The Shores of Gold"-Tall Tale, which is made out of 9 chapters (those 9 tall tales are actually 1 tall tale)...so you can get on with chapter 2 (tall tale 2, whatever)
If you are struggling to find the start point of each, on your ship-map are the icons to find, OR if you go in the menu with the cursor onto the tall tale you wanna start, you see on the bottom left of your screen "more info", there it tells you where to start

Within those chapters are also checkpoints, you can start from those by interacting with the voyage table on your ship, IF you quit while in the middle of one of them and reached a checkpoint

  • @nambr9 A couple of things.

1)Yes, they were designed to be completed in one session. Once you know the world a little better they don’t take very long. The 9th chapter can take several hours but it is really fun. They were not really meant for newer players to jump into. Once you know the world well enough you will find most of the Tales can be knocked out in a couple hours for each chapter.

2)Checkpoints are in place so you don’t have to start the chapter over if you quit. You can pick up close to where you left off. As they said above, got to your Pam table and plunk down the tall tale you were working on.
