CannonBall Effects

  • Alright so hear me out on this one.

We have cannon skins, cannon shooting effects.

but what about some other ideas?

Trails would follow behind the cannonballs through the air, some dim, some glowy, but at the end of the day it would be used to make ship combat look wonderful

Hit Effects would make getting hit have some positive sides, imagine death by a confetti ball!

CannonBall Skins could be cannonballs with different textures, some even with different models, for example the Cultured Aristocrat Cannonball, would be white with some gems scattered about

Cursed cannonballs leave a green or purple smoke trail behind them as they travel through the air, so I'd recommend no for customizable smoke trails; it would make it harder to visually identify and preemptively respond to them before they hit your ship.

They also make a distinct sound when they hit your ship, which can be used to identify what you've been hit by (venomballs make a rattlesnake noise, grogballs use a similar sound effect to the chest of a thousand grogs, etc.). I know that the visual effects are usually obvious, but skilled players could be below decks and instantly know that they've been hit by a cursed cannonball and immediately take steps to counter it simply by the audio effect on hit. Adding new sounds or visual cues would add noise to this ability.

That said, there's still room for customization in other areas. For example, the sound your cannons make when fired could be customizable (albeit, something that only your own crew could hear as the sound of enemy cannons needs to be kept constant). I wouldn't suggest anything crazy, but there's all sorts of "Kaboom" variants that could be used.
