Ships Seating Placement Lowered the Quality of Life

  • Anybody else constantly sit instead of picking up treasure at the front of your ship or checking the map? Anybody else find repairing the back of the Sloop to be more difficult than it used to be? Anybody else think the ability to vibe wasn't worth these added stressors it at all?

  • Not really, no. Never had any problems with sitting instead of what i actually want to do.

  • Nope, not really. The only one I have issue with is checking the map. Sometimes I"ll sit on it.

  • The prompts to sit do interfere with some repair spots on the Sloop.

    Only sometimes.

Often enough to become annoying.... sometimes. I'd just like that if we are holding a plank and there is a hole then the repair should take top priority and sitting be disabled until you either repair the hole or put away the plank.

I played like 6 hour sloop session the other day and certainly had holes in the areas and noticed zero difference, tbh.

I wonder if it sometimes bugs or people are trying to repair too far from the wall and it's overlapping.

I think it's mostly the angle at which I try to initiate the repairs. In a hurry it can be a hustle to get that correct angle so it doesn't give me the sit option and instead the repair option. Or... perhaps I don't have it perfectly centered on the repair spot? Or it might indeed be a bug? Either way I think my proposed change still sounds pretty good to me.

I'm pretty sure this should be close enough (not my pic)

    too far to repair?

The problem is that at some angles, because the railing is technically closer to your view it takes precedence over the repair option. In the image above, the player is more than close enough to reliably repair any other hole in the ship but it doesn't work here because the sit prompt is in the way.

  • @d3adst1ck yeah I had a whole thread on this...I could probably post a video as well. It's an infrequent problem, but it undeniably is a problem that didn't exist before this sitting nonsense.

  • Good to know the sloops I hunt have even more of a disadvantage now

  • @sandwitchgaming more of a slight inconvenience than a disadvantage. Besides, sloops are only at a disadvantage if those operationing them are of a lower skill.

  • @ninja-naranja that’s not true at all, you could be the most skilled sloop in the world but if your fighting a group that has wayy more people then the sloop will get overwhelmed and spawn killed. I ran into some try hates the other day in a reaper sloop chasing a brig and we intervened and had two ships firing on them, even if your the best in the game if you will get overwhelmed on a sloop at some point

  • @sandwitchgaming well what you’ve explained doesn’t disprove my point. Unless your normally hunt sloops with two ships. Also any ship can get overwhelmed. This isn’t exclusive to the sloop.

A good sloop duo should always be feared.

  • @d3adst1ck I would just run to the wall and save yourself the trouble. But yes, you SHOULD be able to repair at that distance.

  • Only issue I have is someone else not checking map while I’m sitting. :p

  • I’ve had this issue mostly at the dock edge at outposts. If you’re dropping piles of loot off the bowsprit and the loot is close to the edge than you constantly get the sit prompt while trying to pick up the loot. Very annoying when hurriedly trying to sell.

  • @joshicus yea...i sit on the map table sometimes instead of looking at it, also I'll sit on the bowsprit instead of picking up loot....IMO they should have made a secondary interact button like R on the pc for sitting on the ship...also everything on the rowboat should be the secondary interact button as well so i can just do what i want to do without hassle.

  • This is indeed a problem, but a mildly irritating 1 at best. There's actually a simple fix already in place for this - train yourself to get into the (new) right spot before repairing.
