Putting a "refreshed arena" in adventure mode

  • I am a veteran player, with maxed levels in almost every company and almost every commendation unlocked. Now it's the turn of Arena. I like the mode very much. It's the ultimate school for pvp skill practicing. Anyway, it has some weak points:

    • Loooooooong loading times to enter a match. I think this is the most important thing. To unlock the stuff you need to play a lot of matches, but the waiting time drains almost all the playing time for the session. And this is caused by the fact that the majority of players don't want to "properly" pvping. They don't like the fact that arena mode is a "small, closed world" where you have to fight and nothing else.
    • The game has frequent server/high ping/hit reg/crash issues, and this causes players to quit the grind and leave arena mode to chill in adventure, when you sink much more less.
    • Arena is currently left in a "limbo" state (should we keep it or not?)
      SO, WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT?
      IMO, Proper Arena Mode should be deleted. Anyway, it should be implemented in Adventure Mode using the well known Sea Dogs Tavern. In this way:
    • Loading times issue will be solved.
    • We could have a Sea Dog Company with proper emissary flag and emissary system.
    • Refreshed pvp-only based quests and commendations that can boost the flag rank.
    • Demarco and Lesedi as NPCs quests givers (for obvious lore reasons)
    • Sea Dogs Tavern could become a new hotspot to increase players interactions.
    • More Spice on the seas!

    These are only a few ideas, but I think that this could be a good way to solve Arena crisis. The only thing that leaves me worried are the commendations. There should be a way to not let allied crews to farm them. But at the moment i don't know how.

  • you couldn't have anything personal kill related in adventure as it just incentivizes spawn camping in adventure and that doesn't have any place being incentivized in adventure

    Because of that it won't get any real consistent use in adventure

    reaper is realistically as close to what you want that you'll likely ever see and that will actually function well on random adventure servers

    lack of consistency and necessary balancing would make this pretty pointless and not popular in adventure

    on this stuff ya gotta remember that like 70% of any random adventure server (on average) is going to range from new to casual to not interested in this sort of activity at all. This stuff just doesn't thrive like intended

    Reapers only works because of the high profit and ease of access for people that want quick action and when something is high profit it just becomes a pve tool and without the profit there is no consistent interest

    Wrong. Arena is in a "no further updates" state.
    Play it for what it is, a combat training tool as one of three viable factions for PL status.
    If I was just starting today, I would consider beginning here.

    Play it or not, but don't expect any updates.

    I think they are in need of rebranding, but this gets back to "no updates expected".
