I know this is a lot to ask, so I wanted to put this on the forums to gauge its enthusiasm. I am sure a lot of this game's enthusiasm and popularity is ~somewhat~ reliant on the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. So why not implement a long arching story over ALL of the upcoming seasons in this new system. The growth and reach of an imperialistic trading company or Country (like the British Royal Navy) that the Pirates movies utilize. Could have their influence and reach grow over the seasons before coming to a head with a new epic boss battle to prevent the sea of thieves to be completely lost of Piracy. If that makes sense, like the stakes of Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End- Pirates being eliminated under a new age of rule.
Imagine taking on an AI enemy that not only wants to kill any player or other faction AI ship because, well it's a video game and ships have to sink other ships, but its a direct challenge to the freedom and escapism of the pirate lifestyle that players came here for (that may be a bit dramatic lol).
Extra suggestions for this idea:
- Boss type ship for this faction would be a mega galleon with two rows of cannons
- To make them different than skeletons, there would be three total soldiers for this faction: Rifleman (either eye of reach guns or new rifles), low level officers with swords, and captains/admirals with swords and pistols.
- All of the soldeirs would have less health but there would be more of them on every ship and every encounter
- All three factions, ghost ships/Flameheart, skellies, and this East India Trad. Co. would all fight eachother if on the seas together, and maybe a tall tale mission could show how a new boss for this imperialist faction could be tied into the existing lore.
