Musket

  • What if you took the scope off of the Eye of Reach so you just have a musket with iron sights. Too OP?

  • @sailorkek I feel as though it would make the pistol obsolete.

Why deal 50% when you can do 80% and still have the easier non zoomed angle?

If they made an un-scoped eye of reach the same damage as a pistol, and more damage scoped then it would be perfectly balanced and would work brilliantly.

I think i would use it over my pistol too. Sounds good.

  • @daringclarky extra range and it is currently 70 damage, hasn't been 80 for quite some time. That's why it takes two sword swings instead of one after you hit someone with it.

I could see something like this working if they lower the ADS reload speed down to about 3-3.2 (same as pistol and Blunder) from the 4.1 seconds of the EoR.

  • @kommodoreyenser Sorry, i got that wrong, I meant 70. I knew it was like within that ball park somewhere. Thanks for correcting.

Yeah reload speed is a good suggestion too. I’d support that.

  • @daringclarky Personally I think it should get returned to 80. It takes way less time to kill someone with four sword strikes, a blunder, two pistol hits, than it does to snipe/sword two times.

  • @sailorkek I could see it as a new weapon rather than an EoR modification. With enough balancing I'm sure it could work. I'm surprised that they don't have muskets already, as there are plenty of concepts of them in the art book, and the Sea of Thieves website itself says

With musket loaded and grog in hand, the freedom of the pirate life awaits. What will your legend be?

    What musket Rare? What musket!?

If it meant adjusting existing EoR, then its bad, because it would no longer be a sniper rifle, just stronger pistol.

If it meant implementing a new gun, then its also bad, because there is no need for another weapon, at least for now. Many players still believe that some weapons are just stronger than the others, which means this "Musket" would absolutely break the existing "balance"of other weapons.

  • @mystic-nefro Yes correct, it WOULD no longer be sniper, well done.... and yes, a musket is just a stonger, longer pistol for the time.

In what world is adding new content bad, what about firebombs and blunderballs, curses cannonballs and chainsot. Your precious balance was distributed then, games change over time, it happens.
Don't like change, maybe TF2 will suit you best. Their devs don't update that old game.

  • @sailorkek Adding new content isn't bad, adding useless content that would cause drama in the community is bad, learn the difference.

Your idea is literally same type as: Please add snow biome, that would be cool... but much dumber...

It literally makes no sense to add some "Musket" lol, maybe try FPS shooter games if you are not satisfied with current weapon options.

I can assure you that musket isn't coming anytime soon lol.

Basically yes, but actually no. The sniper has a way longer reload time.
So with adding a musket you allow the option to:

    • use the pistol in CQC and be able to shoot faster but be at a little disadvantage when it comes to range.
      ...or...
    • use the musket in CQC and have an advantage over the pistol in long ranged fights but the downside is a longer reload time.

That basically means that a pistol outguns a musket in close range and a musket outguns a pistol in long range.
