Please Help Create A More Immersive Experience, By Allowing (Wind Lines) To Be Toggled Off.

  • Personally I believe it would add a higher grade of realism, to SOT. If we were allow to turn off Wind Lines. Sailing only by our Flags to indicate wind position, which sometimes goes unused or ignored entirely.

This level of immersion was brought to my attention in the past, due to a glitch that occurred in SOT. Where wind lines had stopped functioning, forcing players to use the flag as the primary indicator of wind direction. Its added a new and interesting challenge to the games.

  • @axiom2213 I am neither for, nor against, this idea.

  • This would also help with cinematic video's and screenshots where they can get in the way as well.

  • I think it's a perfectly reasonable request

  • I only use the flags as my wind direction indicator and find the wind lines distracting. Raising the flag is always one of my essential setup tasks before leaving the outpost.

In some earlier posts about this topic I've suggested the use of "telltale" lines attached to the rigging to use as wind direction indicators, as you would often do on a normal sailing craft.

This would only enhance what is already a fine sailing simulator, including its obvious poetic licenses.

  • Here's an idea - get off your ship!

    See! No wind-lines! 😅

  • Personally I find it annoying when l loss the wind lines, because without being able to feel the wind on my skin (in my hair) or hear it in my ears this is the next best thing. It kind of reminds me of those wind tunnel test, which are always interesting. If you'd like the option to turn it off, I see no reason why that shouldn't be possible though.

  • There is a way.....

Never board your ship or anyone else’s ship. You can also press alt-f4 or not load up the game:)
