See your SoT rep and progress online

  • Is there a way to view your current status online (i.e. not within the game itself) in SoT with regards to commendation progress, reputation, etc?

  • No, unless that commendation also matches up somewhat with an achievement which you can see on your xbox profile.

  • @d3adst1ck Ok thanks for the info.

  • I really think it’d be a great idea for Rare to expose an API to pull your personal player stats. It’d be great for streamers to track things like tale progress, progress to commendation completion, trading company completion, arena victories/kills, etc.

  • @gundy-the-shark I think so as well. Checking my stats on my phone would be preferred to sifting through in-game menus. Would be better if we could check what friend's need to complete, which could be used to plan the next voyages when logging in to the game.

Also would like the idea of a commendation tracker, which would work the same way as the built-in Xbox achievement tracker.

  • I agree it would be useful to see our progress online.
It would help to plan the next time out on the sea as play time is limited these days :)

(To help get the idea near the top here is also the link to my last weeks post:
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/92806/suggestion-a-way-to-view-our-faction-progress-bilgerats-unlocks-in-a-web-browser-outside-of-the-game

  • I completely disagree, because i think many gamers miss that progression is completely seconded for this game.
People only get upset about slow progression, stopped progression, "wasted time" when sunk and loose loot to progress and all this.
It detracts from playing and socially interacting and encourages to work things of and make progression the most important thing or goal for players, when the design of this game is or was completely not made for progression and performanced focussed gameplay, but focussed on a social experience and player interaction.

Stop working off and game the system, start playing and interacting!

Progression is gamemechanically meaningless and only about cosmetics what havenonly a personal, not comparable to others meaning.

  • this is a great idea.

  • @wildbloodoz it's been suggested before, some kind of companion app...would be a good idea...

Sometimes I won't see a single player ship for an entire session. Can't interact when nobody is on the sea. This would just eliminate the need to rifle through an in - game menu, that's all I'm asking. No advantage is being gained to someone else's detriment.

  • It has players looking off screen to digest information, instead of being in the moment, which is most prudent on the Sea of Thieves.

Keeping a weather eye on the horizon, and whatnot.

Again, since when is the pirate life about convenience?

But I admit, when I am away from home for days at a time, unable to play . . . such a thing would keep me involved.

  • Couple people who play the game and I have discussed that this would be a nice feature. I see the people I pirate with in real life so it would be nice to be able to look at this kind of information when we talk about the game or when we plan our adventures for the session. We all enjoy getting the commendations just to get the commendations. Some nights we just sail around trying to tick stuff off the lists. This info would be helpful for planning those sessions when we aren't logged in.

  • As a software engineer i would love to have this like yesterday maybe

I would go absolutely ham on making something for everyone to use

  • @wildbloodoz
We need this. Xbox should also show hours played like it does for nearly every other game.

  • I want to see it, and see some API that displays this data, but I understand why it's not available. I'm sure Rare is tracking a lot more information than we would assume, which almost certainly includes combat stats, which would allow for people to make leaderboards. Once you have combat leaderboards, the game gets full of people whose only motivation is to climb those leaderboards-not interact with other players in any other meaningful way. There's already a lot of players whose only motivation is just to sink ships and kill players.

I get that. At least you'd no longer need to open an on-screen menu then sift through the pages. So it might actually help with immersion.

    Same here.

  • I have been curious about this ability also.
Sea of Thieves online site has a few links that aren't readily known such as it's /twitch or /event-hub (or other special events)
It was wonderful when my wife discovered the event-hub when we had no idea how far we were in the hunter's call. Now we can confirm whether we'd completed our daily bounty or other events that are going on. That being online only is understandable.

But the ability to see where you are at in your tall tales rep and achievements can be nice to be able to view if you have a break at work when you are thinking of it or discussing with other friends you just found out play also.

It is not imperative, but would be a nice feature.
