@bedgroover72 lol. I honestly don't understand why people see the trailer for Atlas and be like ''yeah it will be a great game!''
- Animations look horrible.
- Game is all over the place (dragons, huge ships, cities, trolls)
- Game just screams ''I’m unpolished''
I'd much prefer the polished experience from Sea of thieves, which has it problems, but in terms of the content problem can be solved. Atlas on the other hand, will not be a simple fix if the problem is polish. I think it's going to be the same mess as Ark online is, it just doesn't feel like a AAA quality game to me.
@dyornos SoT has great graphics and that is all. I truly wanted SoT to work but the game play is so boring just fetch return repeat. Islands and Outposts have no soul the Kraken is a joke just the trailer of Atlas is better than SoT whole game.

I agree that the kraken is a joke and the islands are soulless, but thats because there is not much to do on them. The rest of the game is pretty polished imo, it just needs more and different game systems.
We are indeed stuck on fetch quests, I'd like Rare to do more in this regard. I'm not saying Sea of Thieves doesn't dissapoint in a lot of regions (Legend kugh kugh), but the akward gameplay I saw in that trailer does not get me excited. Hope they change my mind though!
Atlas may suffer from the same problems its creator's other games did. They have great trailers showing off the best the game has to offer on a ridiculously expensive computer most people will never have. The trailer doesn't show the other side of the game, only that one. Look at Sea of Thieves's trailer. It doesn't show hours of grinding and having all of your treasure taken by a ship six times the size of yours outnumbering you two to one. It shows the best the game has to offer, without the issues it may have. The only difference is Sea of Thieves was shown performing normally, rather than on a NASA supercomputer.
@bedgroover72 More like prepare for another big grind more than Ark just imagine the resources it will take to build boats/bases and bugs that they confirmed will be in it so dont hype it up too much. Sea of Thieves still is better
You can put so much in a game untill you don't know anymore what to give your game a name, title or category...Seven? masts ships , trolls dragons, orcs, Pirates , dwarves , medieval castles and so on and on...A promise of 40.000 players in one server? Nice...But will it work , and when we talk about Graphics? Holy Moly, it's like i go back in time for five years ...Sure , graphics don't define a game but if you ,like me , have played SOT for many months then "stepping back" in a new game that pretends to gonna beat SOT on all fronts , just hurts ...They cannot even make water like Rare so i'll pass this game with a big smile and stay where i laugh every night my head off with our crazy adventures that aren't scripted or orchestrated ...Talking about "liveless" NPC's of SOT...The reason that they are "lifeless " is because of the fact that the gamer and his /her company will make the adventure...If you feel that you are only doing errands then i fear you play this game in a way it was not supposed to be...Putting a map on the table forces you to move out and search for encounters , you don't have to follow the Factions' will to the letter..." Be more Pirate " means be a rebel, break out , steal fight , discover and above all communicate with eachother ...Form alliances, betray them or stay loyal to yer last zip of spit...Defend or attack ships who are entangled by Krakens, shoot a Meggi that get's disorientated and attacks the other ship than instead of your ship…
The mindstate you are in and you invest will reap you with a great or not so great adventure...A happy, goofy state of mind ,mostly becomes rewarded with laughs and goofs from other players …
This is the perfect game for improvisation since this game is made for all kind of gamers ...From completionists to archievers to the dreamy wanderer or just the sailor that calms him/herself after a long demanding day at work….Everything is possible in here but you have to invest a bit of effort , mental effort in this game...
@bedgroover72 Like all MMO games it won't last unless you are WoW or FF online. Sea of thieves is and will be the better game. At launch Atlas will be clunky, buggy, and need lots of work. While this is happening SoT will continue to get better. One of the main reason's for this is that RARE listens to us and sometimes even changes the game based on our feedback.
@bedgroover72 I don't have atlas, but every video I have seen shows a very clunky, shoppy game experience. Immersion into a game like that would be impossible. The draw for SoT is the immersion. They gave us a game that is an open sandbox. Do whatever you want as long as it is within the Pirate Code. Make your own adventures. Some people don't know how to game in that environment.
Isn't atlas the one with demons? I mean, how real is that?
I say the same thing here as I say to people on Elite Dangerous forums boasting about Star Citizen:
"I'll wait patiently untill it's released whenever that may be and I'll see how it compares by that time if you don't mind. But while you're beta testing fustrating yourself with bugs and bad content I'm having fun in the currently released and running game."

its going to be a gigantic disappointment at this rate, if they have already had to delay the release to the 19th of Dec then you know what you're getting yourself into. ARK was a very big thing and the open world was nice but the amount of bugs in that game were unbelievable and they still end up releasing a half finished game with graphics that are supposedly 4K for £50 and quite frankly I'm not buying into atlas if wildcard have anything to do with the game because all they will do is promise a finished game take more of my money for DLC when the game is still in preview and release something for an extortionate price even though the game engine will be disgustingly terrible, the graphics will be as terrible as ARK and I will not be able to render what's in front of me without major framerate issues.For me Atlas will be for some players and Sea of Thieves will be for other players. My personal opinion they will be adding a lot of stuff that i hope rare is working on for Sea of Thieves. Don't forget Rare isn't finished yet either they keep adding to it, so i think sticking with the game and growing with the game; will just provide you with more time to enjoy other games. While Maintaining an interest in Sea of Thieves. that being said even the trailer for atlas is loaded with bugs. I'm gonna give it a go just to be open minded but i will more than likely continue on with the Sea of Thieves. Thanks Rare for knocking shrouded spoils out of the park!!! now can we please for the love of god get something new to do instead of just more reasons to do the same things over and over? Please!!!!!!!!!

I will pour some thoughts on this one.
I will warn you right now and heed this very well. The developers of ARK have been mired in controversy for one fashion or another from charging for expansions when their main product was still buggy and broken to splitting their online player base from releasing yet another paid expansion.
ARK also performed HORRENDOUS on launch.
Now, they have said they plan to release all future content and patches for free. You know what that means, it means alternative means of revenue are required and since this is an MMO, the one thing that comes to mind is a cosmetic and time saving based micro-transaction shop where all the content you want is locked unless you pay for it or grind an extremely long time to get our premium currency to get it for free but it's not free (you paid with the most non renewable resources there are, your time which to me, is the highest of prices.) I don't actually know anything about this, I'm just guessing.
The trailer looks fine but I'm more than willing to bet that it is cut up little tech demos and marketing nonsense and that not even half of what you've seen in that trailer is going to be there on Dec. 19th when it launches in, Early Access. I feel that it is WAY too ambitious, to NMS levels of comparison. Do you know how easy it is to get a short little cut of something working just long enough to put it in a trailer and cut it together? It's stupid easy.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I also don't personally think that the developers of ARK, of all, can pull off this level of ambition.
There's a very important saying and it should be remembered and repeated;
"Jack of all trades, master of none."
I feel that more than will apply here for this game, but we'll see Dec. 19th.

They've pushed back the prelaunch to dec 19th, thats not a good sing at all.
@amancebacabras I am probably a older gamer than you being so old my bones creak. Ark had a lot of bugs but still played it more than SoT. Beautiful looking game but that is it with SoT empty islands and outpost game play is horrendous feels like a party Pirate kids game. Give me game play over pretty graphics all day long.

Well there's a lot to like in that trailer that you see, a lot to talk about and build hype, especially for people burned by NMS and SoT. The description itself is a mouthful. Captain Jay did a video on it but how much of ATLAS is real or has any substance to it?
I'm not that bothered by mythical creatures and it doesn't hurt my pirate fantasy that much.
I don't know what age you are, but I'm 31 and I've been around the gaming industry for a long, long time and I've gotten quite familiar with their tactics.
@personalc0ffee SoT is the prime example of sounds to good to be true. Could have been great instead we got a party Pirate game for under 10s. A beautiful looking game with a weekends worth of appeal and game play. Biggest let down in over 30 years of gaming.

I do not agree and Atlas will be a similar disappointment until years later down the line, at which time other games will have come along and done things better.
That's the state of the industry.
@personalc0ffee I agree that games change and the industry is greedy but nothing will be such a big let down as SoT for me I have learnt my lesson don't belive the hype thanks to Rare.
@bedgroover72 you are completely wrong and must have gone to the seas just to get wrecked. Every crew you come across is different and have different tactics that you have to be ready for. I will say for a game with only cosmetics i am very disappointed in the cosmetics. Especially the Athena ship, look at the ghost outfit and the ghost ship then tell me they look even remotely similar. but the game play is fantastic i have never put so many hours into a game. It really is a remarkable game if you cant see that maybe you can take your negativity somewhere else because they havent stopped working on the game and it has constantly been getting better.

That's absolutely absurd. It's clear that you simply don't like Sea of Thieves for whatever reason. That's fine. People have different tastes. I recommend you go play Atlas when it's released and never look back. I'll stick to Sea of Thieves for it's gorgeous, immersive environment, simple and unobtrusive controls, satisfying multi-player interaction, engaging gameplay and open-world freedom. Atlas doesn't look like it's made for adults, in my opinion. It looks like kid stuff, but like I said...to each their own.
@bedgroover72 I disagree with all of your views sea of thieves is not a let down I've played since the alpha ever since then it's been something special to me it helps me when I am stressed cheers me up such a fun game. Through this wonderful improving game I've also met new friends who will be friends for life. There's also no way sea of thieves is just made for under 10 year olds most people I play with are adults I've also hardly met any under 10 year olds on sea of thieves so I don't quite understand where u r coming from. I also don't get it when u say there is no content in sea of thieves. There's lots of content now especially with shrouded spoils being released

So why does it have a PEGI 12 rating and why do I hardly ever come across children on the Sea??
@sshteeve ik may be it's because every founder I talk to does not have a go at RARE and sea of thieves is bad
