Ever since i hit the level cap of 50 several months ago the game has lost it's edge for me.
Sure it was fun being a Pirate legend for a while, sailing away on Athena's voyages.
But now, the biggest edge this game had for me is lost.
I simply no longer care about my treasure, i no longer worry about losing it to another pirate because i have plenty of coins and it's not like my levels will increase any further, it almost feels a chore having to cash it all in as i often end up with a ship full of the stuff as making regular trips to the outpost is no longer required.
The excitement and anticipation of finding loot has gone for me. I miss those days where i would worry about losing it all, and i also miss watching my levels slowly increase with every item cashed in. I'm not even sure i pay attention to the value of each item any longer.
So i have to wonder, why do we stop at level 50?
Why not just keep it going, and perhaps have new items, perhaps even titles and cosmetics unlocked at further levels.
I have a fear that Rare will simply just up the level of Athena and we will be stuck doing 2-4 hour missions and nothing else will be worthwhile.
As a result of all of the above, i find myself no longer playing as much as i once did.
Not because i dislike the game anymore, because i really do, and would love to be playing SOT for many years to come.
I'm at a point where i have nothing left to achieve. And that provides me with a rather empty playing experience.
Yes, we get regular updates with new bilge rat adventures etc, but those are often short lived and i'm back to wandering the seas just for the sake of it.
And before i am blamed for grinding so fast, i can assure you, it wasn't a grind. I loved every minute i put into this game and have played solo for about 75% of my time here.
I have read many post similar to this, and could have picked any of them to add this comment too. But i feel strongly that the level cap needs serious consideration if this game is to keep players keen on coming back for more.
So please Rare. Give serious consideration to removing the level cap and allow us all to get back to the excitement of finding loot.
