Hungering Deep Feedback

  • @sinseers I completely agree it hurts them and the way they've set things up I feel is damaging to some of the kids that play this game mentally. I've never heard language like I've heard from some of the squeakers on here and then they get even more mad and constantly chase you when you sink them for attacking you first. The type of people that play this game mostly is why this dlc didn't work right. Rare thinks people are generally "good" and would team up I think but instead worthless sailors with nothing better to do in they're lives just sit at the island and sink people. People will quit playing this game when they get tired of having they're time wasted

  • @sinseers said in Hungering Deep Feedback:

Private or public. I love making new coop buddies when the task at hand is sensibly setup to do so.

EXACTLY. And it is NOT sensibly set up to find additional like-minded crews. I WANT to meet new crews and I WANT so badly to fight this megalodon but I won't get a chance! (This weekend was my chance and I'm really busy at work this week..) Just add a system whereby it is easier to locate crews who want to fight the mega.. a noticeboard in the outpost? Increase the player spawn rate in hot spots of the map?... Etc.. just do something... Intervene a little more to make sure that EVERYONE can have a fair shot at this event, not just the people who are free on the few days following its release. I would love so much to be part of a small fleet but I can't meet the crews who are also interested in doing that.. it sucks.

  • @kardahoplite I feel like Rare has far too much faith in this community... it's a wonderful game but at some point they are just going to have to hold their hands up and act like real game developers. Creating fun content (and this boss looks so much fun..) is not enough, they need to intervene and make changes to the system which will benefit all players.

  • @braxkedren said in Hungering Deep Feedback:

@sinseers you posted at same time I was so I’ll reapond to you this last time since you seem bent out of shape over this.

My first kill was started completely in-game. I joined up with others at the location (checked there first) and when we all died, on my way back noticed everyone else left. I attempted with another solo Sloop to finish. We died.

This time on way back, found a galleon at Ancient and asked them if they could help. They said sure( they already had finished event day earlier) and we went to spot.

Meg had despaired so they took me and started whole event back over and picked up another sloop and Galleon on the way.

    This was all done in-game.

So your claims of Rare not giving players the ability to complete this game using only in-game resources is trash and baseless. So many other posts about people getting together just through the game as well.

Like said before, this is all on your ability.

thats good for YOU. I did it too. Now what about those lucky few who want to go in blind without watch YT or going to the forums and straight dont know that this trumpet which really isnt a trumpet cuz a trumpet is an instrument like the others in your inv but it s actually a MEGaphone. They probably should named it that. That may have cut confusion a bit IMO.

Its a shame too cuz i really like the setting in this game.

  • @angrycoconut16 hey I agree. I'm an adult with a job and don't have time to waste trying to find a crew in a game littered with jerks just to make sure I fully enjoy every benefit of a game. I almost quit playing all together before the content released because of the constant hostility and lack of companionship. I think the island that an event is happening on should have a safe zone around it. I was fortunate this time and was off the 2nd day the dlc hit and ended up with a crew of 11 people, 1 galleon, 3 sloops. The next 2 days I tried helping my bro and kept getting trolled on every servor. Instead of complaining I smartend up and looked for a crew elsewhere or straight up sank every Jolly Roger I could find. I started crews just to take out these trolls hanging around sharkbait cove and most of them are kids. or at least theyre squeakey.lol so don't let the kids beat you and add me if you ever want revenge. It sucks and you shouldn't have to go through it but servor hop till you find people already waiting on somone.

  • @kardahoplite Same here, also with a full time job.. this is a particularly busy week I have a 12 hour shift Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday, 8 hour late shift on Thursday.. my only free days are Wednesday and Saturday and Wednesday I have made plans... I simply don't have the time... on any other game I play if I want to do an event I can join a match maker if I need more people, or I can form a group myself and invite my friends etc.. this game the only way to do that is find strangers and pray they're not going to back stab you or be jerks, and that they have reached the same stage of the quest as you.... I refuse to server hop, Rare need to organise their game better. In the mean time I'll play some Dauntless which is much better even with the bugs and went into full release not so long ago.

  • It took me four/five days of trying before I was able to find enough people to summon the meg, and even then it was pure luck because before I joined they had already spent nearly two hours trying to meet up on the same server (this was a friend group of teens between the two galleons apparently).

It doesn't help for people here on the forums just to essentially say, "suck it up." It is difficult to find a second crew. It isn't impossible, but the fact that so many people are voicing their troubles should go to show that it can in fact be difficult.

I find it funny that people are being so dismissive of these troubles. I wonder if these are the same people who also say, "this is a pirate game," when people argue about PvP/griefing.

So which is it? Is it a cutthroat pirate game with no expectation of camradarie? Or are the seas just full of friendly players eager to help crews looking to fight the meg?

In my opinion it's neither. It's somewhere in between. For those who had no trouble finding a 5th, good for you. For those still looking, just remember that you still have another full week and weekend to get it done.

  • @angrycoconut16 I feel ya bud. If you ever want to get some revenge on these griefers just add me bro and maybe we can help some others along the way

I don't understand the confusion over the trumpet. Back when the roadmap came out, they said the first dlc would come with a new item that would make communicating with other ships easier, it looks just like a megaphone, and it's specifically called a "speaking trumpet." The patchnotes are always released anytime there's new content, and it's not Rare's fault if a player doesn't look and see what they're adding. They literally said it's "for shouting at other pirates."

  • @angrycoconut16 sagte in Hungering Deep Feedback:

@durengo-germany Great idea making multiple crews a necessity to participate in this event without actually providing the tools to make this possible. The megaphone doesn't help one bit...

And such tools would be ?
That you mustn't seek other players by yourself ? That some kind of bot do this for you ? Maybe you should let a bot play the whole game for you.

All you have to to do is to sail to t26 or to stay at shark bait cove near merrick. Sooner or later you will meet there other players and if that not happens then change the server and try it again . No one needs a speaking trumpet to be able to team up with strangers. And if that all don't works then seek player in the sea of thieves facebook community or on other websides.

And besides that ... no one of you guys try to ask me if i could help him to summon the megalodon. Why not ? Why you don't ask other peoples here if they are so kind to help you ? You guys complain all the time that you can't summon the megalodon because you are unable to find enough players for that , well how many different players are into this discussion now ? Aren't they enough to bring them all together to summon and to kill the biest ? All you have to do is to ask them.

  • @sinseers

You say that many players have the same problem like you and some of them are also here into the discussion and they complain the same like you do. So you found already other players here into this topic they have the same problem like you . Why don't you team up with them to be able to summon the biest ? You say that you hear from many players that they have the same problems like you .... did you ever thought about to ask them if they wanna team up with you ? Aren't they enough to solve your problem ?

You have KardaHoplite , AngryCoconut16 , Harlton Cheston , AOD Red Shirt, NaNach and DontShootmePlz here around they agree with you . Guys , team up and finish it instead of just complaining. You are together 7 Guys..
What are you waiting for ?

I find it funny that people are being so dismissive of these troubles.

    Who said "suck it up"?
If you agree to sinseers arguments then team up with him and the other ones here and help him.

It's not difficult to find enough players or a second crew. It's realy easy right now .. you guys (all the ones they agree with sinseers arguments on this topic) are here already 7 players they could team up .That's almost 2 crews and maybe someone of you guys have more friends . Maybe these friends wanna join too.

  • @durengo-germany

I said people were saying that in essence. I'm not trying to quote a specific person, but just pointing out that there is a dismissive attitude coming from those who seem to have had no problems at all. It isn't necessarily easy, but on the other hand it definitely isn't impossible either.

Some people did it with no problems, but some people are having trouble. This is a valid frustration. If it was as easy as you claim, then there wouldn't be so many people making these kinds of posts. Just look at the THD mega thread and you will see many people dealing with these troubles.

And we could team up, sure. If only it were that simple. If you're lucky you can jump in a server that has a ship waiting for you at T26 and get it done in less than an hour, but if you're not lucky it may take upwards of 2 to 3 hours before you find a 5th. For many people it takes even longer. Not everyone has that kind of time. Should that disqualify them from finishing the quest? Luckily they still have a week to get it done.

  • @harlton-cheston sagte in Hungering Deep Feedback:

This argument get's very old and tired. So this community event should be only 5 minutes long ? This minutes include the seek for enough players. That all only to make this players happy : The ones they didn't have the time to play the game longer as 5 minutes ?

No ! You guys have enough time to write and complain here hours long at several days. Instead to use this time to make together a team of 7 players and to play the game. And again... stop complaining . Team up with the others here and finish the hungering deep.

And if you don't have time to play games .. then simply don't play them. It's not my fault that you haven't time .. should i get punished for that .. or should the majority of the players get punished for that by to get's forced to only playing games are developed for those who can play only 5 minutes per day ? Because that's the games they will be developed into the future ? You might be a Human who like to play a little game between your work and your 10 minutes launch pause , that's ok and for that exist a ton of little browser games .

There are many things in the world they i can't do because it's a matter of time , that's life and i have to accept it. If i can't go to a live concert from a music group then i can't write the tour manager a letter that he have to delay the concert 2 hours long only because that i'am be able then to visit it.

  • @sinseers What we did with friends was, we sailed around the map just yelling at ships if they want to help us summon the meg. Couple of sloots ran away from our galleon, I guess they thought we would sink them, when in fact we were just trying to get help.

After like 10 min of sailing around we found a galleon that was willing to help us on the opposite side of the map. It took some time to get back to the spot but it was all so worth while, one of the best experiences I had in this game, bonding together with random crew to slay the beast. Awesome.

10/10. Would do it again. Anytime.

  • @sinseers Waited months for content that only took 30 minutes to do. What a joke,

From the get go I barely knew what I was supposed to do. I had no idea that we were even supposed to be hunting down journal pages since Merrick never even mentioned that we were supposed to be doing that.

    • You probably miss Big Fat Rat on a map and drunk sailor in a tawern who telling where to find Merric and after you found him you didn't read at all what he saying.

The fact that you were never told how to use the trumpet in game is a big minus.

    • Like REALY ?! How should you use item that increse range of voice in game ... let me gues you need to take it in hand and stick to your mouth like in real life ?

Not knowing that I had to have the tattoos equipped is another big minus

    • You don't need tattoos be equipped to summon beast. But Merric asking you to equip his "jaws" just to remind beast that you sending "Hello" from Merric, when i was fighting MegaShark i was with default tattoos

And needing 5 people to summon the Mega Ledonne? You can't even get 5 people in the lobby.

    • Its a SERVER event not "Your private lobby event", thats where you should communicate with other people to fight this boss.

    • Event was fun and riddles was easy all you need is READ the text, i love how people this days wan't to gamedevs gave em all on meal plate and chew all of it before you can do smthng.
Use your brain its good for your health and start cooperating with other people (Trumpet in game!)

P.S. When we was doing this event we gather 2 galleons and 3 sloops (Its a full server - 5 ships) and get tons of fun.

  • @durengo-germany

How do you suppose these seven team up and end up in the same instance chief?

    Therein LIES the problem!

Not the desire to do so!

  • The problem is that there is no incentive for ppl who already done it on the first day wich is the majority to team up and waste their time with randoms wich wont benefit them in any way so ofcourse it will be hard to find ppl who havent done it specialy in the last day. If there was a benefit to help and kill it again it would be easier and ppl would do it.
Did i explain it easy enough to understand?

    It says all.

I know you all want those exclusive stuff but if something is time-limited then it is really for the fastest and the ones who have a lot of time on their hands.

Meggie stays in the sea and upcoming events are in the plans so stay tuned to miss out none.

  • @sinseers I have to say I disagree with you wholeheartedly! I loved the hungering deep campaign. It was a refreshing change from the usual industry standar go fetch, kill mobs return for reward. It actually made you think and try out different approaches. Plus I did the campaign as soon as it came out so there were no hints or walkthroughs available online.

I think people are to used to games making everything simple and ready to go. I enjoyed the fact you had to get other players to help you. altough I admit we handled this part a tad to piraty! we found an anchored sloop fighting skellies on and island so we boarded them stole all their treasue and said they could only get it back if they did hungering deeps with us. At the end when we got to the big fish another galleon joined us as well so we had plenty of firepower.

The only disappointment I had was how short this was. the whole expansion only brings an extra 2 hours of content...

  • I think the problem can be solved by Rare with better server matching of players who already completed THD and who not yet. For first two days, there wasn't a problem to get 5th people. I even saw about 3-4 galleons killing the shark.

  • @sinseers You can use the trumpet when your in party chat but you have to use the pre-set options on the wheel whilst holding up the trumpet. It can't use your voice if you're in party chat as your voice isn't relayed to the server.
Our crew have now (some reluctantly) changed to game chat as it has proved a lot easier this week. Just make sure it's set to non-directional and it is usable. 🙂

  • You honestly think the use of the speaking trumpet wasn´t made clear enough? Merrik tells you that it´s used to communicate with other crews. To figure out how that works you only have to understand two things:

    1. to communicate means to talk to someone.
    2. we are only able to talk to other people IN GAME if we use the IN GAME chat.

And having to work with another crew - one that is´nt pre-made or consists of your friends - is the whole point of THD.

I also found it rather easy to find allies, I mean you know where players wanting to hunt Meg are hanging out (Shark Bait Cove, T26 or one of the uncharted islands). Go there and use the tumpet. I´ll be hanging out there this week to see if I can help anybody.

Sorry man, I don´t want to be mean but I think this isn´t the game for you.

  • @sinseers What did you mean when you said you have to equip the tattoos?

Is that a thing? I never equiped mine until I was done everything.

  • @durengo-germany

Don't accuse me of complaining. I already beat the meg. I'm just validating their frustrations and trying to present both sides of the coin. For some people it's been easy, for others it hasn't. That is a fact.

I have a full galleon on clan mates I can count on within a reasonable time frame. What I cannot count on is that 5th player. During that 3 hours we talked and or visited with every ship we came across. They either ran or attacked/killed our visitor.

OK i will respond in kind. First thing was the rat icon right? Didnt need it since u spawn right in the tavern facing the new dude. Found Merrick with no problem. Sparked his convo and got the trumpet. Now here is where it got funky. Now it is called the Speaking Trumpet so bare with me on this. I get something with the word trumpet in it and you cant blame anyone for guessing its an an instrument of some sort (especially since u actually have instruments in you inv). So i go to play it and i thought the game was glitching (calling it a trumpet may not have best). Ok.....so a good while goes by before i find out that it is a game chat device. Shame on me.
Next. I might have skimmed past what Merrick wanted the crew to do. I go speak to speak to him hoping he will repeat what needs to be done (Why not? If there is a task to be done i should be able to read about again right? Wrong. No mention of journals ever again until u have discovered all pages. So if u skimmed past his initial convo.........well u know. U can visit various rat dudes like i did but all i was told was to seek out Merrick. Funny how they repeated telling u to seek out Merrick but he doesnt repeat telling u to seek out journal pages. Its actually a bug that should be reported.
Now for the cherry on top. The great task of summoning the MEG. OK so did something i normally never do (used XBOX LFG) and when my party was formed thats when i got the news about needing a 5th crewmate to summon MEG. I was like OK at until i was like .......wait......5? Doesnt the lobby only hold 4? How in the southeast side of HADES are we suppose to get that 5th man on my ship? I organized 5 random peeps thru LFG. The trick was finding a way to get that 5th guy on the same server the rest of us were on. Last i checked u cant pick a server instance in SOT so what did we do? We just sat and waited until that 5th mate eventually stumbled on or server. Yeh.......very user friendly.......And thats just so u can summon. Not battle ,mind u (which was pretty fun). Just to summon.
U said this is meant to be a community event. I get that. BELIIIIIIIIEVE ME. I get that. IMO they about it in a pretty impractical way. Im still stuck on the 5 guy thing mentally (not physically. i completed THD). What actually is the purpose of a 5 crew requirement task (and i repeat FOR ONE TASK) for a game that has a 4 player max lobby? If i do an open crew i playing with randoms, that is people i dont know. Thats already community building right there. U wanna community event to bring more peeps together. Im ALLLLLLL for that! And if for some impractical reason u wanna generate a task (and i repeat TASK not BOSS BATTLE) that requires more people than your team can hold, then for goodness sakes make it easy to link up. If server hopping is required then guess what? ALLOW THE PLAYERS TO SELECT A SPECIFIC SERVER! Im not talking PVE or PVP server here. Im straight talking server instance selection. That will quell alot of headaches here. U wanna make an MMO? Cool...U wanna make a sensibly thought out MMO in regard to accessibility and communication? Well that takes some studying.....
