I think fishing needs a little love. I love me some fishing but I kinda wish we had voyages we could do to help progress the hunters call faction. I remember Duke having fishing voyages for a time where you'd have to catch a fish in a specific spot near an island and I think they should bring those quests back and maybe make the fish like a legendary variant of whatever fish you're trying to catch that's larger than a trophy fish (and more gnarly looking like it's been around for a while) It should be harder to reel in and it has to be held like a chest and can't be stowed in your pockets or in barrels and if you want to cook it you need to lay it across both stove tops on your ship.
Another idea I had was inspired by one piece and the legendary all blue and area of the sea where all the waters mix and where any fish can be caught. I think something similar would be a cool addition to fishing in the sea of thieves. I think having an area of the sea where you can use any bait and have a chance to catch any fish regardless of where you are. Of course I don't think it should be a static area of the sea but any area that changes periodically maybe like every couple of in-game days or something (or maybe its on a timer once someone starts fishing there or has a limited number of fish) . I think it should be visibly clear that the area is a legendary fishing spot but only when you're very close to it. Maybe it's marked with seagulls or pelicans flying around or sitting on the water or maybe the ocean color is slightly off or glowing. I think it'd be cool to ask around at different seaposts where the hunter calls representatives would give you hints as to where the legendary fishing spot is. You'd be able to use any bait here and catch any fish that eats that bait (maybe making splashtails a rare encounter here) and maybe having an ultra rare chance of catching a legendary fish as described in the legendary fishing voyage above.
