Do what you are comfortable with based on how you design and prefer your online privacy/lack of privacy
If you generally don't care about being linked to other platforms and posting and all that then you can go easy mode and just keep it all the same name.
If you prefer separating your hobbies and online activity you can keep your sot related stuff on a specific alias that may be different than others.
It's really just a personal decision where a person should figure out what is best for them.
No right or wrong answer it's your activity and your privacy to navigate how you wish based on preferences.

I did signup (with a different name) and gave it a go. Discord works well Sea of Thieves.
