  • Does Completing a Tall Tale Chapter Save Progress

I've been trying to find the answer to this and I'm not finding a clear one so I wanted to ask. I just finished the Shroudbreaker chapter completely, I turned in the idol, got my cosmetic hat, and the mysterious stranger told me where to go to start the next chapter.

What I'm wondering is, since I completely finished the first chapter, if I were to exit the game before picking up the voyage book for the next chapter would I be able to start it when I return? Or do I have to do every chapter in 1 sitting?

If I end up losing progress I'm gonna be super tilted since I had to deal with multiple people sinking my ship while I did the little puzzles in the cave and I probably just wouldn't bother anymore.

  • Please let us safe voyage progress!

So far this game doesnt allow for spontanous pauses of the Game, but expects the player to play a 2-3h Voyage. This excludes many people from enjoing the game or makes it hard to gather a group of willing players for a session.
And i havent played a voyages in months for that reason.

Please allow us to return a active quest/voyage to the inventory, for a later continue.
And for not making it exploitable, but in some conditions that have to be met like:

    • be on an outpost
    • be outside of an battle (ship has/had no damage for the last 3 min)
    • quest/voyages can only be continued with same crew it was set on hold with.
    • a free quest slot is used
    • ...
      [EDIT]
    • when quest/voyage is continiued, remaining quests will be reshuffled with new far away locations as goals
    • with a continuied athena Voyage your ship will be visible for X minutes on the map, with x beeing the number of quests done in the voyage
    • athena treasure will lose some value for every "hold" that has been done.

you want to log out: just be on an outpost and aggree with your crew to safe the quest
you want to continue: gather your crew and reload the quest with shuffled remaining maps.

Right now some players are even forced to pay for Athena chest on Ebay.
Just an example on how serious this matter should be seen.
Possible that some of these Athena Chest Sellers are part of this Community and systematicly voting eachother up.

Please Rare there must be a way to implement a non-exploitable way of letting the player leave the Session if needed, without losing all the Progress. 2-3h for a voyage, can easily turn into 5+h when beeing chased or other distraction happen, and if you cant complete it all the hours are just wasted time, which is unbearable frustrating.
Its bad gamedesign to build up tension by making the athena chest costing the player several hours.

I dont want it to be easier, but just give some players a break if they need it.

  • Shroudbreaker didn't save progress (I thought I had completed it...)

    Hi,

Just started the Shroudbreaker tale yesterday. I found the shroudbreaker and returned it, to be told it is missing jewels. I got a notification that it was completed, a pirate lord hat, and told to speak to Olivia at plunder outpost to continue.

I was at ancient spire at the time and it was time to sleep, so I quit, thinking that when I logged back in I could continue where I left off (as it said something along the lines of completed!)

However, I have just started a game, got to Plunder Outpost.... speaking to Olivia does nothing and when trying to start the tale it has restarted from the beginning.

Is this expected? I don't think I can be bothered to start it over again so I'll probably just give up if this is normal...!

  • Save your progress?

    Ahoy,
Yesterday I was finally able to play the game and I was totally confused. I mean it is always great experience when you need to explore everything by yourself and that you need to just keep trying. This is awesome and missing tutorial is a huge benefit, because you feel so proud when you figure it out. I really had so much fun, but what confuses me is when I logged out I thought I would be able to continue where I left and instead of this I spawned somewhere else with another crew and with another ship. This is pretty sad. I thought I would be able to sail on my ship and that everything stays there. Why there is no save game function at all??? I was sailing to outpost and logout and still got spawned somewhere else. Can somebody please explain this to me?
Funny story: Playing 20 minutes on the starter island with some random guy and exploring surrounding and then there suddenly popped up message saying ... Where is my ship?! I started to laugh after seeing him panicking on the island :D Great game really, water is magnificent but I am missing function to save my progress.

  • Is tour progress in Tall Tales saved?

    I just completed the Shroudbreaker.

If I log our, will I have to do this story again or do I start at Cursed Rogue?

I'm asking because, even though I just completed Shroudbreaker and got the rewards etc, the next Shroudbreaker is the Tall Tale available to vote on, which doesn't make sense.

  • Save quest progression

I don't know if this has already been suggested (searched the threads a little and found nothing), however I thing it would be nice to be able to save progress mid-quest. I play on late evenings, have a family and a job and I rarely can spend more than 1h-1h30m on the game. Tell tales and other big voyages take way more time, especially if done properly without using guides. So, more often than not I find myself in a position of not even trying the new content because I simply do not have enough time and I know that if I quit at any point before completion, all that Story is lost. I would like to have "checkpoints" so that I could resume the story where I left it. I understand the technical challenges (may not be the same crew, for example), but I think that a compromise solution can be found (for the given example, the Story could set itself to the first common checkpoint of the crew). Either that, or shorter Tales please :)

My two cents. What do you think? :)

  • Lack of Saved Progress for Solo Players is Unforgiving, 4 hours Wasted Thanks to Almondbeard!

You know what really sucks? Getting a code Almondbeard 4 hours into the final tall tale, just as you're about to enter the final chamber. Sure, I made the mistake of doing it solo. However, I wasn't using a guide, and I was figuring it all out by my wits alone. I had the whole thing in the bag, and it was taken from me.

I have nothing to show for those 4 hours. Nothing at all. This could be avoided with session timers, or reconnect windows. Give us a few minutes to jump back in before all 4 hours of hard work is just gone.

You could do us that kindness Rare, it shouldn't be that hard to do. Otherwise you end up with folks like me, who have sunk several hours into a singular goal only to lose it all. You owe me for those 4 hours as far as I'm concerned.

Not everyone has the ability to get a crew going whenever they like, and since undertaking such a momentous quest with a public crew would surely be an even bigger waste of time, you need to offer players a grace period to not lose it all.

I'll admit I'm very angry currently, but I think I'm very entitled to that considering the circumstances. Please Rare, I love this game, but you really make it hard for folks like me with hiccups like this.

  • WHY IS THERE NO VOYAGE PROGRESS SAVE OPTION?

My game would not load after walking through the door on the ferry of the damned, forcing me to quit the game entirely only to return and find out that I now have to start the shroudbreaker tale all over again.

Pi55es me off that this happens. I don't appreciate having my time wasted.

This game needs a system that allows you to save your voyage progress in case things like this happen. I don't see why this can't be added and i dont understand why it isn't available to players in game.

Rare need to seriously consider adding this feature. It absolutely ruins the mood and makes me want to play a different game! Sort it out Rare.

  • Does tall tales progress save when leaving the game?

    Ahoy,
I'm a seasoned tested but decided not to spoil the Tall Tales for myself as I plan to complete it with my crew. Some of my crew members will join later tonight so my wife and I will get a headstart. If we start the tale and in the middle of it, we'll need to leave the server to get a bigger ship, will we lose all the progress? Thanks!
