Chest of sorrow filling ship when not on board.

  • We had a chest of sorrow on the ships rowboat, it didn't fill the ship with water while on it which i thought was strange. So i picked it up and dropped it on the rowboat again and it started filling

Anyway we got to an island and took the roawboat with the chest still on it, got to the island shore and left it there then had to go back to the ship to get more ammo and it was filling up with no holes. In the end we found out the chest was crying on the rowboat while still on the island but was still filling the ship up.

  • This is a glitch.

Put the CoS from the ship to a docked rowboat then undock, the effects are still tied to the ship and will fill it when away.

Put the CoS in a rowboat that is not docked then dock, the effects are not tied to the ship and will not fill it.

What happened to me at the weekend.
(Usual mechanic... CoS fills the boat when rowboat attached to sloop/ in one case it didn't )
I was pretty happy with the glitch myself... then later on picked up another chest. The boat filled as usual.
I tried to see if there was a sweet spot on the rowboat that enabled this... but couldn't recreate it.

Nice while it lasted... I guess... :)
    Does need looked at.
Occasionally just purely the proximity of the CoS left on the shoreside (sloop parked close by) is enough for the sloop to continue to fill.

  • yes new bug. noticed it aswell was just in time to save ship

  • We had a CoS on our rowboat that got nuked by a volcano and the rowboat was destroyed and sunk. Since we were already on the move we decided to leave the CoS behind. We were still taking on water from the crying CoS even after the rowboat vanished and sunk. It kept filling our boat until the chest despawned.

  • @archangel-timmy Ok appreciate the note.

  • We have found a short while back that if you load the CoS on a row boat, dock, and leave it there it will not fill up your ship when it cries. Have to make sure you do not carry it on board and then place it in your row boat.

Get it with a row boat and just leave it in the row boat. Detach to go fetch new ones. We came across four of them just a few days ago that we handled that way and our sloop stayed dry the whole time until we got a chance to sell them.

  • Also, the CoS when dropped in the water near your ship still fills your ship with water.

Exactly! Me and my friend used this ''glitch'' to transport 3 CoS that we got in the same Skelly fort.
If not for that, we would have only took 1 or 2 chest at a time.
If you see a CoS on an enemy ship's rowboat, just take the chest and drop it when no one is around and wait for the ship to sink. :P

  • Also if its in the water close to the boat its filling the ship -.-

It was a known issue advertised by the Devs in previous patch notes.

The Chest of sorrows may fill your ship with water if it's in your rowboat unattached from your ship.

I've got my ship sunk in the first day that bug came out then I remembered the patch notes. Eheheh

Just a note that this also happens with rum bottles. If you have the rowboat docked on your boat, put rum bottles in it, then undock it and row away and your main ship takes damage it will break your bottles in the rowboat no matter where it is. Learned that the hard way.

Drop the chest and take off in their rowboat....challenge accepted! :)

Wonder if it will work in reverse :)

Put your bottles in a detached rowboat, then attach and leave them there. Will they only take damage if the rowboat takes damage and not when the ship does?
