Cities in Sea of Thieves

  • I honestly think the Sea of Thieves should have some towns or villages, because the map the way it is is very empty with small islands and few Npcs, it would be very nice a big city with a very large harbor and several houses and bars, one place where players could meet to form alliances or factions, it would also be interesting some missions with Npcs within the city itself that would not necessarily need the ship.

It would be interesting also new missions of the merchant alliance, for example you have to carry out fishing with great nets thus catching many fish and selling to merchant alliance thus helping the population of the city to maintain the stocks of food.

A new boat customization system that I've been thinking about is a system of creating parts for your boat, as an example you defeat a skeleton ship so it will give you an item that as you gather these items you can make one customization for your ship as an example using the items of the skeleton ship you were able to make a rib of bones to infeite your ship, in the same way that if you defeated the megalodon the items of creation that he would drop you would create megalodon teeth to decorate the hull of your ship.

Well folks these are my ideas that I have had until now that would help improve the game, any constructive criticism you have please comment so together we will be able to elaborate new ideas to improve the game.

While those are good ideas, I don't think they really fit SoT. Creating ship parts is for the shipwrights to do, although I could see those decorations being part of the game. A city seems great, but no missions without the ship. Don't know where a city would come from, though.

  • Sounds like Sim City.

I'm only here for the water. Not interested in City of Thieves.

  • A big "city" would be nice. But no missions! The city could be a harbour for pirates like Nassau or Tortuga. Basically alot of Crews could go there for various reasons like:
Drinking with your pals and other crews; Sell your loot for a little extra money (Since other crews would be there watching you sell your loot); Look for alliances; Get harder and better voyages.

Of course there's a risk, you can get killed by other crews here. But those crews will face consequences if they kill any pirate inside the city. ... Or not.
Consequences could be PvE related, like being swarmed by skeleton ships. Or maybe a new fleet, protectors of the city (ldk how that'd be a thing in a pirate world but sure).
Or they could be PvP, which would depend on the players. Basically, if any crew(s) decided to protect the city, then they would chase any traitors.

This would need bigger servers, though. Maybe 12-20 ships per server would make it so that some crews would be inclined to role play this, you know? Would be cool.

    Here you go boys

  • I think a city should have a Venice-like waterways, it wouldn't NEED ships, but if you needed a delivery from the Northern area to the Southern, you could take your ship or a rowboat there to make it easier. I love a populated city area, but I feel like it would need to be very equal to the other regions of the map, with equal threats, voyages, and possibilities for loot.

  • MMO wannabe rubbish.

    Boats and hose, yo

    Dis be SoT

    #lore

  • the idea is good, you can also divide the city into zones for tasks, fortress, where you are offered tasks for the delivery of stone, wood, tools, boxes of weapons, ship guns.Shopping area of the city, where you will be offered a variety of goods and animals.
In the port area, where you can gamble in the tavern to take the job from the bartender( for example, barrels of grog), smugglers will give jobs for Prohibited goods
a lot of ideas, and almost everything can be implemented in the game.

  • Large towns or cities don't fit within the lore of Sea of Thieves. It's a mystical region that only the bravest or most foolish dare to seek, and fewer still ever find. Promises of seas full of riches and adventure draw pirates from around the world to seek out the Devil's Shroud. Only a handful of individuals know how to find and penetrate the Shroud. There could never be a large population center in Sea of Thieves.

  • @genuine-heather a dit dans Cities in Sea of Thieves :

Large towns or cities don't fit within the lore of Sea of Thieves. It's a mystical region that only the bravest or most foolish dare to seek, and fewer still ever find. Large towns or cities can fit if Rare decides it to.
How long can thousands of wealthy pirates roam the Sea of Thieves without being tempted to build a city of their own (especially if there's no official authority preventing them to do so)?

I think it is a great idea and I know it won't happen in a short term but I'm looking forward for more diversity and for the world to be enriched.

  • Cities and towns are not needed and would be out of place. The islands in the Sea of Thieves are not intended to be tropical resorts or vacation destinations. Nor are people in the Devil’s Shroud getting mortgages on a little salt box house and raising families.

It is like @Genuine-Heather said. It is about pirates venturing into a unknown place that is mysterious and dangerous. The risk of rewards is high, but the dire consequences and risk of never returning is just as great.

Now we could use some new NPCs over time. Maybe a a old pirate turned fisherman that teaches us how to fish and buys our catches. Members of a new faction that lead to new types of voyages and adventures of the sea. A new enemy to fight besides skeletons.

Sea of Thieves has a limit of how much Rare can load the game with. They recently worked hard to clean things up and make improvements to bring us all the great things in Shrouded Spoils. I am sure we will get new things. It will be on a scale that works technically and delivers the great experience everyone expects while staying true to lore.
