I don't know how you pirates think about it.. but I would like to see more wildlife in the game.
- More types of birds
- Monkeys
- Crabs
- Insects
- Lizards
It would add a lot to the diversity of the game.
Opinions?

Random NPCs in outpost and islands would make the game more alive too.
technically already happened with the cargo runs, but more would be interesting defiantly and more wildlife wouldnt hurt the game whatsoever

Stationary npc with no purpose except for recieving cargo and discounts dosnt make for much of a lively world. Think WoW npc walking across their entire biome on a schedule, or npc actually doing things like skeletons rebuilding towers that are destroyed, if that were a thing, which it should be. Actual life and purpose other than a shop menu screen and some voiceovers.
Edit: and yes i agree with op except the list should be like 50 animals long. They all only need a few behavioral tweaks to be unique. Then its just reskins, we know rare can do that.
This far after launch and having 3 animals with pretty poor ai and fish as decorations is kind of a disgrace.
Im sure its a technical issue with them having trouble already with animals on islands just being there in the server memory, but creative solutions instead of nothing is what needs to happen. Pokemon dosnt have 1000 animals running around, yet you can encounter almsot that many at this point on your gameboy. Just have animals spawn in more diverse groupings rather than 10 pigs of all colors, and have some islands have higher spawn rates for specific animals, so players who want to be merchants actually have something to learn and share in game chat, or barter that info emergently to other crews, etc.

I am super interested in seeing how Red Dead Online handles this. The game has something like 200+ different fish and animals with different tiers to em in Single player that can all be "interacted" with. Hopefully it gives a little inspiration to up the ante a good bit in SoT.
@lifewcoke agreed. I hope that the online version of that game sets a lot of precedent across the board for what can be accomplished on console, specifically this gen but for the future also. People sometimes take comparisons to a sub based game like WoW the wrong way, that game just has proved a lot of concepts are possible, AND it was done in a shared online world.
Obviously they must pay more for wow servers than SoT ones or something, but the principles that are proven to be effective at immersing people in games are all there, and in a much less satisfying art style, atleast imo even though they are similar.
Nobody is asking for Rome to be built in a day, but we can all see the potential this game has to be something truly great, and hopefully one day that is without question the same way people are awestruck when they see the coliseum, etc in person.
Totally agree.
It would be cool to see other fish out in the ocean not just around the very edges of islands. Whenever I fall off the boat (a hobby) the ocean feels very empty apart from the odd shark who is only there to kill me. Being able to see some fish would be cool and of course be able to do some fishing! Which is what many people want.
@buzz-9-1990 Love this idea bro. We sail around this empty world feeling like we are in Davy Jones Locker lol Hell even Davy Jones locker had crabs :P
@Buzz-9-1990 love the idea! it would be great to have more animals. mabye the crabs could be hostile like the snakes?

@garb4569 messed up my thing there.
pretty much what i was going to say was i agree with the idea of wow based npcs that walk around in set paths. but also, i have to disagree with them rebuilding towers, unless they were going towards a world event like setting up for the next update. but i would defiantly like to see civilians walk around the outposts or appear in the taverns, this might conflict with lore and that.
I can also see this coming however with the arena, because during the trailer we do see a lot of people in the place where the man (De Marco Singh also known as one of the pirate lords sons im pretty sure, correct me if im wrong) is making his speech on it all, so maybe they would come then, which i would be down for.
