How Excited are You for Rowboats?

    Ahoy Mates!
    I'm really liking what I'm seeing when it comes to Rowboats.
    Almost Every single thing I've heard about them I've loved!
    You can watch Rare's latest video detailing Rowboats below!

    But if ya don't want to watch a long video, here's everything we know so far about Rowboats:

    • It'll be able to hold up to 4 players. (1 Rower, 3 Passengers)
    • It'll have a Rowboat's Chest on board. (That's for storing resources)
    • It'll be able to attach to all ships types.
    • Your boat won't start with a Rowboat attached, you'll have to find them on islands.
    • Rowboats will be able to take damage.
    • It has a lantern on the Front. (It hasn't been confirmed if you can blow it out or not, but I think you will be able to)
    • Both oars will be control able.
    • The End.

    Anyways mates, how Excited are you for Rowboats?

    I'm more excited about them fixing the barrels if at all ever.

    @admiral-rrrsole I would assume they would only be empty because you drunk them all so toilet breaks would probably still be an issue for you ;)

    Really excited for the rowboat, gonna feel like a real pirate rowing in to the island and plunder it for all it's treasures!

    Like which buttons will be the oar functions?
    How will it take damage?
    How much damage can it take?
    How many will be in a sea at any given time?
    How fast is it?

    So many questions!
    But as soon as Forsaken Shores launchs we'll have some answers!

    It'll be so funny to Jack sparrow it. Take off on the row boat while the rest of the crew fights. I'm excited for row boats should be an awesome addition.

    Seems like a waste of resources. Also seems odd that the game is going to encourage us to get so far from our boat we need a row boat in the first place. Seems like a terrible idea in a game that encourages pvp on the regular. It really doesn't make sense.

    This is a strange reaction. SOT desperately needs some new mechanics/toys in the sandbox, and rowboats are part of any pirate adventure, film, game, novel; you name it. They enable lots of new gameplay :)

    -escape vessel
    -stealth boarding vessel
    -steal treasure from Galleons and dump over the rear balcony.
    -navigate around islands without having to tediously raise/lower anchor/sails
    -carry large loads to and from a ship (especially useful for animal coops and small crews)
    -secondary vessel for crewmates to take on 2 islands at once.
    -I’m sure there’s more I’ve missed

    The box art even has a row boat front and centre!

    Rare giving us new mechanics/tools all the time! Alliances, Reapers Mark and now Rowboats! You don’t have to use them, it’s your choice!!!

    I would be far more excited for rowboats is I felt that there was a genuine use/need for them in the existing world.

    If life was hard and there was a current ongoing need to swim long distances from your anchored ship (I know no one drops anchor but you know what I mean) to the shore of an island, and back multiple times with lots of loot then rowboats would be needed. But the existing world rarely requires lots of swimming. You can always bring your ship in close and it's usually only ever a couple of trips from shore to boat to load your booty.

    As it stands they've had to dream up a reason (boiling seas) to justify introducing rowboats. Their usefulness in the rest of the world is going to be dependant on how easy they are to launch/dock/row. If that process isn't efficient then you're just going to continue to go over the side and swim it.

    i am really excited to load it with gunpowers.
    its going to be so useful when it comes to islands* and sunken ships you can just load it on it and attach it to the ship and unload from there instead of taking the ladder every time

    4 man Rowboat sneaking up on others
    Testing the storm
    Getting drunk while staying on the rowboat
    i hope sharks attack you in it.

    I hope they're faster than swimming.
    Cuz if not they're not people won't use em.
