Ship self parking to pier plz

  • Been playing for a days and noticed some needed changes. But first

1.In Assassin’s creed black flag they had ships that get close to the pier and actually park them selves. Please add this, as jumping the the water to get to land cause you messed up parking is lame. Or u cause damage. It slows you down to grab items from shore also. I understand some people would want to develop that skill but if u want give us the option to turn it on if even possible, that would be great

  • Practice and learn how to park? Its not that hard, just raise your sails up as you are closing in to dock to reduce speed.

  • We could also have chests that magically find themselves. Or perhaps pigs that just jump into your cage.

Nothing wrong with the current system.

  • @warl0rd17 Pay 500 gold for tugboat service. alt text

  • @warl0rd17 Man I love those new fancy-dandy self-driving self-parking ships they got going on!

  • One of the best things about this game is how it requires people to actually perform so many actions, such as raising sails, raising an anchor, turning sails, etc. That includes things like parking. These activities and functions are such a huge part of what separates this game from others, it would be an absolute travesty to include automation of these functions.

Parking your ship well is a skill, and not a very hard one to master. The consequences of not doing so are a longer trip to turn in loot, which puts your remaining loot at a higher risk. This seems rightfully intended, and I would find it an utter disappointment if it were to change now.

  • @warl0rd17 I wouldn't mind some way to hook on to a pier for a plank to attach to

  • Yeah this will turn into a troll show quick...

  • Self-parking ships? Please, no.

That said, I would love it if ship docking were made more realistic with lines and cleats, so someone could jump onto the dock to help pull the ship in and secure it. Also, the ability to "shove off" would be welcome. This would of course be more realistic for the sloop, but since complicated docking procedures aren't viable for a game like Sea of Thieves, it could apply to all ships. I'm pretty good at docking as it is, but that extra level of realism and control would be welcome.

  • No thanks.
I pride myself on proper parking jobs...

    most of the time :)

  • slow down, line it up and walk your anchor back. so when your plank or ladder is next to the dock you can stop the boat on the dot. not having auto park and learning to be good at sailing are part of what makes the game satisfying.

  • I like how it is, stuff like this is the progression people don't like to admit. The more you play the better you get. That's why we stick to certain roles, I like @DrunkPunk138 sail and park because he has since the beginning and it shows, Most times he parks I don't even need to jump to get off the ship to reach the dock. Time in = skill. The best solution is to practice, Take your boat out circle the island and try to repark until you get closer and closer, It's rewarding and will make your journey even better!

  • @warl0rd17 parking is easy people just dont wanna play with the sails a quick beginner tip would be get front 2 sails up starting with mid as name pops up 2 people per sail coast in with rear raise when tip is close to dock

  • @shaggy2000 lol now your talking. But im good on that front

  • @samuraijack l**o nice one

  • Yeah I mean... When everyone started playing the beta pulling up close to an island and anchoring was what everyone did. As time went on people learned to park better. I'd rather them focus on more content/ new events than making it easier to park.

  • Wow. Now I've seen everything here...

  • Got my galleon some sweet backup cameras and a beeping sound so I don't run over any mermen.

  • @warl0rd17 It takes practice but being able to park well is important and part of the game mechanics. Having self-parking would ruin some of the epic crash into the dock and run to the drop-off spot before you get killed moments that we all talk about in the local tavern.

  • But parking is all I have!!! I don't want to go back to vomit bucket duty!

  • All I can read is the thought:

Please have the game play my character for me, but only when parking, because I haven't the patience or interest to do it myself.

I agree the parking can be annoying. If your like me and prefer never to use the anchor you take a while to glide into your parking spot. Others prefer to simply straighten the wheel and drop a well timed anchor saving time at the stop, even if some minor time may be lost to up anchor.

That's all a matter of preference...

But having an Auto pilot adds nothing IMO.

  • Oh geez...please don’t take this the wrong way but just learn to sail. It takes some patience but it’s really not that hard.

I don’t want an auto park feature. I don’t want to be stuck in a parking animation when I change my mind about parking because I spot someone on the beach or another ship approaching.

Also, a bad parking job is an opportunity to teach a lesson to a noob that it’s worth being patient, getting close and not dropping the anchor on your galleon 100yds from shore.

You can learn a lot about sailing in this game by playing with and watching more skilled players. They’re often very happy to share tips and tricks. I know I am and I’m far from skilled.

Everything in this game needs to be done physically: grab loot one by one, have cannonballs, planks, etc, in your inventory...park ships.

    So no, thanks.

  • How about a new NPC at each outpost? "Roger, the Pilot", say?

He could come out in a rowboat to meet your ship and valet park it for you. For a small fee of course. :-)

  • Parking? Docking shurely ? (sic) I tend to ram docks or islands then repair. Takes less time!

    Fair winds

  • Rope. Players should be able to manipulate their ships with mooring lines. This way we can get them unstuck as well.

  • Nah, seeing how close you can get your ship to dock is half the fun :)

  • head seeking bullets.

  • In golf, putting is sometimes described as "the game within the game".

Think of parking your ship well as a mini-game within Sea of Thieves. You get bonus points for not using the anchor.

  • Well, whatever comes of this thread, all I want is the beeper when I throw my sloop into reverse. Don't wanna run anyone over.

  • Forget that, just give me auto feed pigs option. :P

  • @warl0rd17

It's not that hard. It's called practice.

Some tips so I'm not just a d**k. Its harder to head straight to the dock, come perpendicular to it at first. This is much easier. Coast in with the sail almost or all the way up, use the anchor if you overshoot. As you can better you can come in at steeper angles and still get close.

  • @dabba87 What are you talking about? All you need to do is go at it at full speed when you hit the outpost so your ship ends up at the tavern XD Makes unloading super fast!!!

  • I'd like the chests to dig themselves up, actually no, that's too much sailing.

I want 80k delivered to my bank account in-game each day, that way all I need to do is log in and not all that boring, time-wasting voyaging and fort clearing that keeps cutting into my netflix time.

  • I wouldn't mind a 'Play for Me' button... turn on auto-pirate, rubber band me joypad an' go to bed. Wake up in the morning 10 levels higher and a lot richer. I'm ready to lazy my way to Pirate Legend.
