This rainbow flag business
@delta-sparky901 this is how I look at it. The lgbt community has used a rainbow flag for 40 years, as a lgbt pride representation, not equality.

To me that say equality more than what lgbt has used for almost twice my life as their pride symbol.There are many blind (arguably non-LGBT at that) people arguing in favor of the rainbow banner who seem woefully ignorant of the prejudice and hatred that also surrounds the colors and what how people who are supposed to be aligned to the same cause treat each other. Nobody wants to talk about that though because it's bad PR.
For some, the rainbow flag is a reminder that their symbol of hope for inclusion, unity, and acceptance was a false flag.
Ludicrous.
@knightfire098 I just think rare is treading on thin ice with this choice. It's a very touchy thing here in the US, and a majority of the player base of this game play in the US. There are people here who don't agree with lgbt and think this is a call out especially since it is pride month. Like I had suggested they could have used the planet earth in a starry background. That wouldn't have caused this sort of outroar.
@drbullhammer Your post is c**p Bully! The flag is political. It's like adding a swastika, KKK, or Black Panthers flag. It represents a select few who stand for a cause not unlike any of my aforementioned flags. I love RARE but keep politics out of the game.

The Swastika is a symbol of racism in the west because of the N**i's but for Hindu's its a religious symbol. Either way it is clearly identified with either of those two things especially the former. The rainbow flag is just that a flag with 7 colours. Its how you interpret it. I know gay people who say they don't like it or identify with it. I don't care its in the game but religion, political and social issues do need to be kept away from game because they cause controversy with those who disagree with them.

Well all the arguing got my questions to Rare locked. I’ve asked to get those posts moderated out and unlocked but think I’m being ignored.
Also sent the link to it to Rare Devs to see if we can get an answer.
At this point I’m pretty much deflated by all of it. If Rare doesn’t answer on inclusion of all groups (those that don’t align themselves under a rainbow colored flag but something else) I’m pretty much done and will lose interest in the game.
Have been told the same by others. So if the case it will be interesting to see how this game evolves because most of those are the ones that debate against segregating the playerbase.
Seems they’ll be less of an argument there for all of you and you’ll get to make this game exactly what you want. At that point we’ll see how this games stays when all the core of the game is gone.
I’m taking a posting hiatus unless I get a response to my questions from the mods. If I fail to get any then......

Any player this bothered by a rainbow flag is welcome to play a different game. If you'd like to post some incredibly "intellectual" post on why Rare needs to remove this flag immediately I won't hold my breath.

It's likely that Rare has some employees that are part of the LGBT community.
Pirates are historically known to have consented to same sex marriage, contractual compensation for on the job injuries, and burial insurance. Maybe actual pirates are more liberal than folks think.
A rainbow flag doesn't invoke hate like a swastika would, but I can see lots of players of all persuasions having fun with it.Let's have some tolerance people, before you gank these victims.
@barnabas-seadog Real world politics shouldn't be added to this game as the rainbow flag does. While I don't like the rainbow flag nor what it represents it is simply an annoyance they have added it. So I shall supply a simple annoyance in game to anyone flying it. But its not bullying or harassment considering I kill everyone on sight anyway. shrugs

last I heard the Rainbow Flag was not attributed to or affiliated with any proscribed organisation or group, so no, not really.
