Adding 1 monster to the sea that as no purpose to be replayed ? Thats hungering deep ? Are you serious or have i miss anything beside the new cosmetics ?
So thats it ? 1 Giant shark who give no loots only a ship cosmetic item? Thats hungering deep ?
@stew360 So far this is what it seems, the fight is great from what I see and can't wait to get to it when I get home. They did say in the developer show today that this is the first of many. Of course these things take tons of time! I don't know if they will be able to salvage the start, but they are working to add as they go!
@mattyjoltz Never said the fight wasnt great .. but let compare it to destiny 2 DLC warmind wich i found insanely underwhelming ... while having 10 000 times more contents than this ... the Boss fight in warmind was Fun .. dosnt change that the amount of contents was Meh while been 10 000 time better than this
This game should have had Borderlands level of contents with at least some In game dialogue and not only written bullcrap , it should have had much more PVP oriented event where pirates compeat for loots , keys that lead to secret caves etc.. and more original things they have not done ...
What i said is while the game core mechanics are fun and somewhat semi polish ... it remain that the lack of contents is insane the design flaws are everywhere ... and this DLC was more than underwhelming and as no real replayability values
I know this is going to sound cheesy, but the experience itself is more interesting than the content.
I did it today on a duo sloop, and it was really nice seeing every other crew being much more friendly than usual and helping each other advance through the quest. We ended teaming up with more and more crews as we played, and in the end, pretty much the entire server (one galleon and four sloops) were fighting together against the boss.
That has to be the most fun I had in the game since it was released.
That being said, I agree it's a bit too short, and I hope weekly events will come soon enough.

Tried checking it out this morning but the randoms I had were just p*****g about and eventually left, so I did too.
Is the fight at least an actual fun challenge? Or is it just cheesy and a bullet sponge?
You can consider it fun ( more fun than the kraken ) to say the least ,but since its not a random events like the kraken there is no real value added to the game , its trigger by the player at a specifics spot on the map , wich make it Meh once you have done it , you feel little to no reason to do it again ...
@stew360 i agree with you sir, but i am still very excited to see how they fill this very good looking shell they made :)
@soulless-rager from what I have seen, challenging, but still a bullet sponge, be ready for some challenge, but not an amazing amount!
Ahoy there, have a listen to today's Developer Update and also a read of this interview with Joe and Mike, it puts Hungering Deep into perspective regarding size and it's place in the continuing addition of new content going forward.
Joe: We've tried to give you a small crafted adventure to go along with it, and that'll be our tactic for introducing new content into the game. With Hungering Deep, we're bringing in a new A.I. threat, we're bringing in a bunch of new tools including the shouting trumpet and the flags system. They're cool because they add to the richness of Sea of Thieves. Every time you play, there will be a chance of encountering the new A.I. threat and experience the new systems. The quest will highlight the stuff we're bringing into the game.
@stew360 Just keep in mind that this was a free update very close to the game launch. Warmind was paid DLC over a year after launch.
I would also point out that the Dev's clearly stated that this was going to be a small update because of the time constraints on how close it was after launch. They said that each of the next 2 updates will be progressively larger as they establish a normal development cycle.
@skunkbrand77 I think the definition of weekly is that it will happen every week. Otherwise yeah I guess.
Whatever they put in, you'll find people that will finish it in an hour and complain about how short it is anyway, before most of the community even gets to try.
@skunkbrand77 If you have a read of the interview, (couple of posts above yours) what they're saying is that the quests are a small, basic vehicle at the moment to get new items and mechanics in game. Meg will be around after the 2 week event, and so will the items and cosmetics as will all content which is added starting in two weeks time and going forwards.
@stew360 Possibly it was underwhelming do to you hyping yourself up. Rare has stated that this was a medium sized update that was worked on by one team for a month. The next update will be from the group that had 3 months to work on of, and the one after that 5 months. Also by next week is the skeleton king weekly quest offerings that will have different things change weekly.
I think people need to calm down about these update cycles. This is the first time Rare has made an online multiplayer game of this magnitude. Try and enjoy what you have instead of plowing through it and then demanding the next coarse before they even get the stoves warm.@rootbi said in So thats it ? 1 Giant shark who give no loots only a ship cosmetic item? I hope after the event, megalodon will roam on sea without summoning.
I agree. That would be awesome. But not stick around like the kraken. Maybe a couple passes and if you crush it with a cannonball you avoid a hit. Yeeee
@katttruewalker Is there a place for transcripts? Not a fan of videos personally. Almost completely deaf and CC is spotty so ... yeah... I prefer to read. haha
I'm not sure, but that's a very good point and I'll try and find out - perhaps this interview might give more insights as well - it contains more information than the video does.
There are subtitles available on the video?
I love the new items and really enjoyed the co op battle.
That said, I feel it's a missed opportunity to add more life to the game.
Something simple that adds replay ability. E.g. the drum could of been you had to hit keys at a certain time to make the correct song (small version or guitar hero)
Shark hunting outpost with gold or xp rewards for bringing back shark teeth / megaladon teeth.
I understand the megaladon is a co op event so loot is tricky as how to split etc. But if everyone got even loot it'd add replay ability instantly.
I get it's in game for ever, but I've done it once. If no reward for second time then why bother ?
@stew360 That's the thing though; both Borderlands and Dstiny 2 content was paid DLC; I'd take this free update over paid content (I still regret investing in Destiny a second time).
@the-estler In 2 weeks.... :D :D
Keep on the lookout for places where the crafty crew at Rare might hide these!
@katttruewalker Subtitles are funny critters. TV has it down pat usually, but the interwebs still have a ways to go as far as accurate transcriptions go. Some of them are completely useless.
@stew360 It would be cool if you could raise the Megaladon and then it roamed the server attacking all ships!

If I am not mistaken, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am, that this is only the first part of The Hungering Deep. There will be other additions to come, if I remember some of the content videos correctly. Of course, I could be completely wrong.
