If you were better then you wouldn't have a problem playing against a greater percentage of PC players.

The bad PC players feel their advantage slipping from their fingers and can't imagine having to actually play the game, having to follow the progression system. Once we finally have the option to disable cross play being able to avoid these griefers will only be part of the benefit. Them getting bored of this game and leaving is the biggest prize.
Does that mean I as a pc player could choose to only play with xboxers, cause that would be awesome :)
Your flippant comment actually proves the point that PC players prefer to play against Xbox players because of the indisputable advantage.
Assuming your sarcastic post was meant to diminish the option to disable cross play I'll assume that you aren't one of the legitimately good PC players that would benefit from this option being added (if I'm wrong I apologize). So if you're a bad PC players which box do you check?
*deny that there is any advantage
*make a false claim that it would negatively impact the community by splitting it up
*claim that the cross play option was a selling point and ignore the fact that all we want is the option to disable it. Any and all players that want that feature can still use it
*tell inferior console plebes to bow down to the m*********e and get good...even though you aren't good enough to defeat humans in other games so instead of losing at PUBG you choose to pretend you're playing PUBG on the seas.
