I have been doing this all wrong help

  • I want to unlock the achievement
    I'll Drink To That.

Enjoy a tankard of Grog with another crew at an Outpost.

I have tried scuttling my ship at an outpost so there is no threat. I tried sitting in game chat with mic on no luck. I have stood outside the tavern away from the stalls so im no threat shining my lantern so players know im there and even stayed in the tavern playing music hoping players join me but all that happens is that im shot stabbed and killed. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be great.

  • I got this achievement by accident to be honest.

Almost every time we're done playing, my friend and I sink our ship and go to the tavern to drink/puke at each other while we talk on the mic before leaving for good. One particular time, a new crew just popped in the tavern while we were drinking. We tried to drink with them but they just drew their weapons and tried to kill us.

We both got two achievement that day : This one where you have to drink with another crew, and another where you have to puke at an enemy attacking you with a sword. That was good fun.

  • Just today I was looking to knock out a few achievements, this one being one of them. I sailed up to the first galleon I could find repeating: Ahoy! I come in peace! They were friendly and I explained what achievements I wanted to get. They helped me get this, the 5 piece band, tactical c*****r and some others, I helped them get the steal a captains chest. It just comes down to luck, finding friendly people or not.

  • @evil-wolf-snipe this is funny, you realise how many posts there are about people camping outposts? Haha imagine how many people have seen your mermaid and just assumed you were camping for loot? How many other people have done the same thing as you, again sparking a camping fear? “But guys i just want a drink...” As someone above said it pretty much is luck, but most players would see a mermaid and go elsewhere if at an outpost.

  • @evil-wolf-snipe I'd have to agree with the others, my friend. Your best bet is to find a like-minded crew at sea.
Good luck. If I see you I'll be sure to help accommodate you with your commendations.

Fair winds and happy sailing. :o)

  • I didnt know other players could see your mermaid and I dont think I will have much luck sailing upto other ships but I will give it a shot and thanks

  • Wish my crew could invite you to our server/map.

We found a random at an outpost as we started the game, we never shoot first (even if we are becoming more and more sceptical of other pirates) and so we seemed to start jumping around by this guy, then we all played music together, then we drank grog together.

I do wish we could help each other out more, without having to be on the same ship.

    I would also suggest -

    • Running round holding your grog
    • sending out a message using the Text option if you see other pirates.

I believe this is something that will come in time. You will find a friendly pirate soon.

I use the xbox chat to be as friendly as possible thank you and I hope to run into you in game

  • @evil-wolf-snipe If you really want to have this achievement, maybe "camp" on the ferry of the damned and ask players who end up there if they would help you out. You can't be a threat there, but still you might have to convince people of your good intentions.

  • @dreamingnomad Who know's maybe an update in the future will be Pirate Crew "Guilds" so you fly the same flag, but are not allowed too many of one on a server at any time, limiting the overpopulation of one "guild" on a server but still allowing say 10 People from one to be loaded in.

Gives enough for a sloop and 2 galleon's/ 2 man'o wars (if they bring them in) or 5 sloops (be interesting to see)

But this is just a thought and might not be implemented. anyone's thoughts on that or additions always appreciated.

  • When I'm sitting around an outpost for fun, I usually pull my ship up off to the side and turn on all the lights. The idea being to make myself as conspicuous as possible.

Doesn't have a stellar success rate, but it's another tactic. I got one guy to drink with me by getting disgustingly drunk before hand and stumbling about on the dock as he pulled up.

After all, can't be a threat if you can't hit the broad side of a barn.

  • @v**a-hombre Don't forget the symbol of peace can also be raising your Cannons upwards fully to show no intentions of attack.

“Gentlemen you had my curiosity ... but now you have my attention.”
Pirate Guilds, Pirate Fleets... this could be the perfect expansion for the growing community of Pirate Legends. Must be possible with the introduction of Invite only sessions coming soon.

I don't see why it couldn't be implemented, you already have the introduction of menu's in-game, adding a functionality for a guild roster should be easy enough and all you would need is to have an additional title added on to each player for guild referencing in game which would draw through the flag specs of the guild to the person's profile and update the ship to show a guild flag even if you had it show a guild flag on the stern hanging down on the rear post where nothing hangs, this leaves the individual the ability to have their own custom flag flying up high then when that is implemented.

Need any more idea's let me know ;-)

  • @legendary-jerkr and @DreamingNomad

I'm sorry to be the one to say that this may never be implemented due to the fact that greifing would escalate ten fold when every other ship on the server is attacked by a guild / fleet.

The whole idea of a guild is to be a stronger force so really, when you ask yourself, who would use it? Only PvP players of a bullying nature.
It's bad enough when one crew of PvPers harass you and won't leave you alone until someone sinks.
I'm sure if you were on the receiving end of "a sloop and 2 galleon's/ 2 man'o wars....or 5 sloops" that you think of this idea much differently. Imagine being the poor solo player outnumbered ten to one.

Before you even think of suggesting "Well, join a guild", that's like others saying the best way to be left alone to do PvE is to become another PvPer.
The game's promotion states that YOU play it whichever way YOU choose. That does not mean being bullied into playing it the way others choose.

My apologies to @Evil-Wolf-Snipe for this thread going off topic.

  • Here's one way to do it

Sound is a bit off in this recording..

Need a larger server load to accommodate this. The ceiling is currently too low.

  • it'll happen for you, just keep at it. your best bet is with sloops. 2 of us met a solo slooper and knocked out a few of these things. didn't help with the 5 piece band though.

  • @evil-wolf-snipe I got this one really randomly. Was turning in with my crew and another galleon pulled into the outpost as we finished unloading everything so we said "we've got nothing left and we're about to log out if you want our supplies" and they came over and we talked then decided to get the achievement while we were there. Was a fun time.

  • @admiral-rrrsole True. I have been running into dual crew sloops that have banded together with another dual crew sloop to attack others and it can be very frustrating. So I would rather not give those players the mechanics to more easily band together. But the thought of just having a friendly flag, even though it can be abused by pvp's to lure others, is a nice idea.

I'm sure bullying as a group towards 1 person has never happened before ever, in game or IRL.

But beside the point you are correct, if i did it would be unfair and could cause people to stop playing. I personally never play Solo as I find it boring, so we are looking at this from 2 different ends of the spectrum. Either way, as i did say it was an idea of mine and nothing more, so lets leave it at that.

  • @legendary-jerkr I do apologize if you read any tone in my post, I certainly didn't mean it like that. I was just explaining my concerns with the guild concept.

Now, to make up for any misconception, how's this idea?
It could be used in a way that is controlled such as weekly tournaments.
A number of servers could be set aside for guild v guild battles.

The option could be added to the menu when you select your vessel and invite friends.
Stats could be recorded with win / loss ratios and even create a formal ladder based on those stats. Just like any sport where you battle your way to the finals.

Tournament mode does sound pretty good. nice suggestion Sole.

    Cheers, um ... Jerkr. :o)

The guild's ship configuration (sloop / galleon ratio) could be anything you want as long as each side has no more than 12 players.
    Examples:
    3 X four man galleons.
    6 X two man sloops.
2 X four man galleons plus 2 X two man sloops.

  • @a13xa4d3r

Giving them a captains chest is not stealing one off a ship. Bravo for getting the achievement but not achieving anything at all really.

Earning to me is more important than figuring out ways to scam the system

  • @shambow Okay good for you.

    Legend's fine ;-) lol

yeah sounds interesting, definitely something they could consider, even if they implemented it a battle royal style, where the red sea closes in slowly to make sure there's a winner :-P

  • Just look for crews that want to work together during normal play. I was able to knock out all the silly achievements with a crew I had met at a fort.

  • @evil-wolf-snipe I'm pretty chill with other players. I only shoot back. JakeHDF add me we can chill.

  • I didn't know this thread was still going. Thank you everyone I posted a thread the other day a shout out to two awesome guys and we helped each other get achievements. https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/58508/a-shout-out-to-2-great-guys-and-thank-you
