Hi,
It could be really nice to have a quick shortcut assignement for LEFT & RIGHT DPAD (they are unused at the moment). PC players can already access all their inventory so easily. Would be nice to have a little something on xbox // controller players.

- Please no hate for the pc players I'm so happy with cross-platform that I can now play with more friend :D

You can already reassign a number of items to any button you want on xbox :)

It's right there. Literally the only thing in the controls menu. Just go to controls, scroll down until you find the item you want, (fruit, spyglass etc) and you'll see it says "none" for button assignments. Just select it and assign it to an unused button. I have bananas on the left dpad and spyglass on the right.

Ah OK, this may have been my issue.
@mmountain yeah i've just checked. you won't see in main menu, but when in-game, it's there. no idea why...

I can't believe I never thought to do this, even though I knew you could remap things... I feel so dumb right now... lol

I believe he meant scrolling through inventory/weapons with the left/right dpad buttons, not assigning items to those buttons. At least that was my understanding, unless that is already something you can do in the control scheme, in which case, never mind lol.

You can actually map/assign/bind buttons to suit your playstle.
I currently have changed my D-pad and I have the Emote and Comms wheels assigned to Left and Right, while I have Bananas on Up and Planks on Down.
This allows me to quickly heal while in the middle of a battle or rush down to repair without having to stop and open my Item Wheel.

FYI - You don't see the options in the settings menu from the "main screen".
This is where I went looking the first time and it literally didn't show them. Found them (by mistake) when looking during a game.
That's why ive made this post! It was not intuitive for me to go in the ingame menu when the option was not in the main menu.. Oh well now i did it and its a game changer for sure Im so happy :D

But it's only in the in game controls menu, not the title screen controls menu. Which, if like me, that's the one you checked you wouldn't know, and would assume their was no option to change them.

Yeah exactly.. that's why i wrote the post i couldn't found it... At least my intention was to improve the game... But its easier to be negative instead of helping others ;)
@mmountain In that case you aren't being thorough. Always check both Main Menu and Ingame Menu, as it is becoming more and more standard to not show the remapping controls menu on the Main Menu.
Don't ask me why, I honestly think it is a stupid decision to do so, but I guess it removes some of the load from loading into the Main Menu.

I apologise for my lack of thoroughness, but thank @Sir-Lotus for his helpfulness in the thread and anyone else that resisted the temptation to passive aggressively score points when there's an obvious UI/UX discrepancy in the game that means this mistake is a fairly easy one to make.
