Sea of Thieves is a Cross Platforming Masterpiece - Thank You Rare & Microsoft

  • @shackelfourd i second that

  • @shackelfourd Nice write up! I enjoy the crossplay as well. It is the only way I can play with my kids! Me on PC and them on Xbox.

  • @logansdadtoo @triheadedmonkey
You guys voluntarily play the game. You are not forced to play. If you CHOOSE to play, you accept the conditions the game presents.
If Xbox supports MKB, you can choose the input device you want to use. If you choose a device that is worse, and thus choose a disadvantage, that is entirely on you.
That purchasing a device costs money is not an argument. They cost money for everyone. Consoles cost money, PCs cost money, internet and developing games cost money. Almost everything in life costs money. Deal with it.

  • @twitchtv-mohky said in Sea of Thieves is a Cross Platforming Masterpiece - Thank You Rare & Microsoft:

    @LogansDadToo
As a PC player i never had an issue with 'fair' crossplay.

Wich means, no 'aimbot' or 'aim-assist' for console players.
I know this isn't really fair though. Mouse and keyboard are just better in fps-games, but giving console players any kind of aim-assist would be even more unfair, just the other way round.
Just add mouse and keyboard support for the console. I can play with a xbox controller on pc, it should work the other way round too. I mean, if i do play contoller, laying on my sofa with my feet up, im gonna be less focused, and my aim is gonna suck. I'll be an easy kill. That's console playing for me (and for most console players too).
If i sit on my desk in my gaming chair, focussed and with my mouse aim on point, xboxers gonna have a hard time if they fight me.

This shouldn't depend on the platform, but on personal preference.
You just want to chill on your sofa/ship? alright, you're likely to become a victim.
You want to focus on the game, and be the legendary one-shot-one-kill monster, taking out a galleon solo? Sit up and focus!

No use talking to any of you about this. You're playing on a service that we pay for & wanting us to make the concessions & conform, so you can be happy? Does this make any sense to anyone else here? The crossplay option is the perfect solution, just not the one you want. It's crystal clear, after all the back & forth with your ilk, that there is ONE & only ONE reason to worry about a crossplay option. You'll lose your advantage.

  • @slim-shanty
"You're playing on a service that we pay for"
What is that supposed to mean now?

As a PC player, what do you pay for your Xbox Live access? That's what I mean now.

  • @slim-shanty
    What XBL access?

  • @nebenkuh said in Sea of Thieves is a Cross Platforming Masterpiece - Thank You Rare & Microsoft:

    @slim-shanty
    What XBL access?

Are you trolling right now? You have an Xbox Live Gamertag, which is used on XBL, a service paid for by it's Xbox customers & you absolutely know this & are just stirring ****. I'm done responding to your one sentence taunts.

THAT is XBL & you're on it, smartrrrs.

  • @slim-shanty
    Wrong.
I have a Microsoft Account. Never signed up for any XBL stuff. Only thing I somehow gotta use for inviting friends to SoT is that really laggy Xbox app that came with Win10. Oh, I also own like 8 copies of Win10 and bought SoT, so I guess I'm the favourite son now since I paid more than you. That's what your "argument" amounted to, right?

Anyway, how is it a concession to get to play with everyone AND use the superior input device?

  • @nebenkuh Cool, you can use your "superior input device" by hunching over your desk playing on your 20-inch monitor.

Meanwhile I want to play laying down on my couch with a controller in my hands in peace on my 60 inch 4K TV.

  • @greaseman85
Got absolutely no problem with that, chief. See, I'm pro choice. :)

No! You can't! Conform to what he feels is right for you, d****t! Now I know why he had mostly one sentence responses. When he overdoes it, he goes full ******! lol, he isn't using XBL. L**O! He thinks they created another Win10 network or something just for PC/Xbox crossplay & Play Anywhere. All of it runs through XBL. Hey, it's your time, but I won't waste any more of mine on guys like this.

  • @slim-shanty
I wonder what's been around first, Windows or Xbox?

"Conform to what he feels is right for you, d****t!"
Your reading comprehension seems even worse than your behaviour. I've advocated for equal choices from the beginning. :)

  • @shackelfourd also 60fps at least for the Xbox one X on top of the keyboard and mouse support Microsoft should hurry in adding..

  • @logansdadtoo Actually you missed the fact that I specifically called out I have tried to give you the alternative options of providing Mouse and Keyboard support for those on Xbox that want it"

If most console players don't want to use a keyboard and mouse they don't have to, but there are some players who legitimately want it. So adding kb+m support solves a portion of the communities problem. I may actually play on Xbox on occasion if I had kb+m support.

You mentioned above that PC players should buy controllers. I have one sitting next to me that I could plug in so that is not an additional cost to me, but like you said about console players and kb+m there would be additional costs to PC players to purchase controllers. (If MS wants to make more money, they would add kb+m support since there are more players on console).

The other thing that you bring up is this "forcing" subject. There is no forced play at all. You either play the game or you don't. Your option is to play or not to play. If I was "forced" to play on a controller I would not play the game. I prefer, notice I said preference because that is what you are trying to get at with an option to disable crossplay, I prefer to play with mouse and keyboard because it feels more natural. It is not some clunky device I have to hold in my hands.

So you are never forced to do anything in this game. If you want to be a griefer you can be a griefer. If you only want to do missions and no forts, you are not forced to do so. While we all have preferences, one preference is that excludes another group is not viable. Excluding PC because of the KB+M is not acceptable.

  • @Nebenkuh Please avoid swearing on the forums, including using abbreviations of swear words to circumvent the profanity filter. It is a violation of our Forum rules.

  • Everyone has opinion. Mine is simple. I can play a fun game with my friends and family, regardless of which device they play on. This is a win for all of us in my circle, X-Box and PC alike.

PC can use mouse and keyboard OR an X-Box controller.

There for I would like for X-Box to allow X-Box players the ability to use keyboards and mice too as an option, if the player wanted to.

However, what it all comes down to is fun - and to me all of us are having a blast. Both PC and X-Box players. At least everyone in my circle, and everyone I've encountered. Rare and Microsoft firmly have my support and that of my family and friends.

Exactly my point! This game has brought so many of my friends and family together in a fun and positive way, and we’re all having a blast!

Glad to see I’m not the only one who is happy with the game and the ability to expand or gaming circles and friends even more!

    Cheers!

"You're playing on a service that we pay for"

Xbox players pay for XBox Live, but last I checked, I have to pay for a new version of Windows every couple of years. Seems to me like it all evens out as Microsoft is getting paid and we’re all having fun regardless of which device we’re using.

    Meh my 2 cents anyway.

What? Greaseman you can play your PC from the couch. You can even use an XBox controller on a PC. There are plenty of folks who use their computers as multifunctional entertainment systems in their living rooms. I’ve done it.

I like both Console and PC.

Not sure where the grievance is here.

  • Awesome, I only want the option to play against people with an obvious advantage.

  • @slim-shanty said in Sea of Thieves is a Cross Platforming Masterpiece - Thank You Rare & Microsoft:

You're playing on a service that we pay for >

Ummm...Thank You...I guess... Don't be late for work, PC players are counting on you?

I have seen some silly arguments in these forums, hell I have contributed to some silly arguments. But this right here takes the cake (WAIT before you start the flames...I happen to play on both and I pay for XBL) and @triheadedmonkey 's comment about being disadvantaged because he has to make the choice of buying a KB&M? Seriously?

Come on people...really? Has this become social justice SoT discussion time? The elite PC owners keeping down the impoverished Xbox players...talk about 1st world problems. A little pathetic don't ya' think?

Maybe we should just talk about ways of making it work? I like the option of "opt out/in" that seems easy and fair, no reason anyone should have an issue with this. But, who am I? Just a guy that plays on both platforms, and really does not see much of a difference...some, but not really that much. Also a guy who has no 1st world problems.

@nebenkuh said in Sea of Thieves is a Cross Platforming Masterpiece - Thank You Rare & Microsoft:

    @slim-shanty
You mean MKB support for Xbox, right? :)

Nope. Not even close. If I wanted to sit at a desk & use a keyboard & mouse, I would have spent $5,000+ on a gaming rig, but since I chose to put that money towards a 65" OLED 4K TV, X1X and Dolbly Atmos receiver to play comfortably in my living room instead, I'll stick to what I've been using for decades... a controller.

Why should I change the way I'm accustomed to playing on a service I've been subscribing to for over a decade for a few new kids on the block, who don't even pay rent?

spending $5000 on a gaming rig is ridiculous. You can build an excellent gaming PC for $600.

I don't like consoles, nor do I like controllers, but I do like being able to play with people who use consoles.

Console gamers are more common than PC gamers. PC gaming intimidates many gamers, and wether you like it or not eventually this will be the norm, and hopefully the playing field is a little more level very soon.

  • @touchdown1504 I was merely replying to the comment:

"It makes things fairer all round"

So would MKB support for Xbox - without the need for segregated servers.

It wouldn't make it fairer for me as I don't have a keyboard and mouse for my Xbox so it would cost me money, whereas optional crossplay would cost me zero extra.

  • @triheadedmonkey Yeah I know. And I stand by what I said, which is disappointing because I have enjoyed a great many of your posts in the past. Now I am not sure what to think. 1st world problems bro, seriously? maybe they should do away with 4k support, because well, I would have to buy a 4k TV, and that isn't fair !!! Dude, I was just talking with the deckhands today in another thread, I had literally told everyone how the Pioneers are respected by the community and looked up to...then this. Wow. Well, I have been wrong before...

  • I havn’t encountered a single suspicious kill. I record every time I sit down to play, and have yet to encounter anyone hacking. Neither has any of my friends and family when I’ve asked them about it.

I really don’t see any advantages here for the PC Players. XBox players who are upset because they have to use a controller should know that a lot of us on PC use them as well.

If there is that much fuss over it, then like I suggested before, Microsoft should release a driver/update that supports XBox’s with the ability for them to use keyboards and mice so that players could have the option to play that way.

So much hate towards crossplay floating around on here, “PC PLAYERS HACK AND CHEAT IM SHELVING THE GAME FOREVER UNTIL THEY’RE ALL BAN!”

    Really? Really Dude?

Players can’t even determine who is on XBox or PC half the time, but ever time they die it is assumed that it was because it must have been a hacking pc player.

    This is rediculous.

I think they’ve done a fantastic job and they have my money and support along with my growing circle of family and friends who love this game.

I maintain that this game is awesome and they’ve done a terrific job introducing cross platform play.

  • @logansdadtoo I agree, this entire thread is just click bait. These games are [mod edited] for console users. I will never purchase another cross platform game if it is forced on the community. I play on Alienware and Xbox. I will not reccomend this game to anyone that only plays console, as I fear they will contract [mod edited] from the elite PC gamers.
I own four xboxes, I have teenagers that all have their own system. We had a great time playing together for awhile in SoT. A couple of weeks ago the kids got server kicked enough to make them second guess the grind.
Follow that with PC gamers solo killing entire crews, my crew have left the game. I still see a lot of potential for the game, however, it's not fun without the family playing with me. The kids are done until cross platform is made optional. Or a fix is made to level the playing field. I will check forums regularly until I have good news for the kids.

I then use a wireless Xbox One controller to play in a completely separate room from my computer and be in the same space as my family.

I frequently PvP and do just fine using my Xbox One controller. I even sank a Galleon last night using a 2-Person sloop while using my controller even though I was playing at my desk. I don't seem to have any problem PvPing against other PC players even when I use my console controller.

Grease, I've played with a mouse and keyboard from my love seat plenty of times. I even have an X-Box controller if I just feel like mixing things up a bit with my PC. I've had a comfortable setup in my living room, leaned back and feet propped plenty of times.

In fact mine is a two minute switch from leaned back on my sofa, to sitting in my premium stream suite over my desk. I really don't follow you on this one.

This guy gets it. He has both, and has experience from both ends. Listen to us and players like us - because we've got a broader perspective and can testify to the game being plenty fair on either platform.

I have family and friends that all play together on both PC and X-Box, and I can tell you that we would all disagree. We've had failures and success with both platforms, regardless of the scenario of who we were up against. This game is one of the more balanced ones we've ever played, and we have a blast! If you are suffering from disconnections, then perhaps it is your ISP. Perhaps packet loss?

Either way, we're having a good time. I hate to hear that someone else isn't, but as far as I'm concerned, the argument that PC has advantages over console is just not an accurate statement. Once upon a time sure, but the parts they use to make consoles with are sometimes even more powerful than what's in some of the gaming computers out there these days. Not everyone has an expensive setup. In fact assuming every PC player has some $5,000.00 monster machine is, honestly, unrealistic and flat out wrong. Do you have any idea how expensive PC gaming is right now due to the Crypto Mining epidemic that is ruining prices for GPUs, RAM, and processors world wide? I know I can't afford it any more. Besides, most true PC gamers build their own setups that, before crypto mining, would cost about the same as a new X-Box would. Heck, mine was just about the same price!

Rare and Microsoft are doing a fabulous job, and they have my support - along with my community of friends, family, and streaming-buddies!

Okay, so you have stereotyped all PC gamers as being arrogant, and conceded. As already stated, the point you make here about being able to play laying down can be done on PC. This point really isn't only invalid, but just sounds like someone who has never really gamed on PC. I've played on both. I like both. Depends on the mood I am in, but I tend to side with PC only because I can do so many other tasks on my PC other than game. I can work with Photoshop, or work on my thesis with Microsoft Office, or download mods that I just can't get on Xbox. My Skyrim and Fallout are so immersive in depth with additional mods, it would blow your mind.

None of these things provide an "in-game" benefit to playing when it comes to PvP and again the argument that you have to play "hunching over" a 20 inch monitor is wrong. I have a 55 inch HD LG that I play on when I'm relaxing on the sofa under a blanket. If I wanna get serious or have a lot of in depth paperwork to do, I'll hop in my pro-gaming chair and turn on my high performance acer monitors and get to work.

We all have an opinion. Agree to disagree, but your's does not make sense to me, and after reading this particular post, I'm tired of trying.
