This is such a beautifully made game but the lack of an offline mode is really disappointing. I fully understand that the game being multiplayer is a large part of the experience and lots of core reasons to play the game would be missing without other players, but believe me, this game would hold up without them. This game would be awesome for kids if there was at least a friend only mode, Also some people just don't have a solid enough connection to play online, and can barely download games (myself included) breaking the game for them.
Please create an offline mode!
@mogley1992 and so if you cash in then jump to live servers you wolud keep the xp and gold? not very fair
Negative. The entire experience is pretty much worthless without the threat of hostile players stealing your loot. Not only that, but someone could grind their way to Pirate Legend in Offline mode, almost completely immune to getting killed or having their loot stolen, so ranking up becomes super easy. That's not fair to the people who legitimately ground quests online, facing the threat of other players and triumphing against those odds.
@blam320 only if you allow them to use the same character offline as you do online. Good point though.
@blam320 for you.. I much prefer the game when i'm not trying to avoid or fight other players..
The end of the beta was great, i spend hours upon hours voyaging solo with no other ships.. Loved it.

I've gone hours only spotting another ship on the horizon every so often; no interactions until I'm about to log off anyways and someone finally catches up and sinks my ship.
If you're only playing the game for the PvE content, you're not playing it right. Unless gold and rep gain were disabled or significantly reduced in offline mode, I stand by my opinion that it's unfair to players who enjoy the entire game on regular servers if someone can reach Pirate Legend status just as quickly, if not faster, while playing without the threat of other players.
@loki-tdd I wouldn't mind lower res waves if it meant there was an offline mode, but that would presumably be a lot of work
@blam320 that's not everyone's experience and if GTA 5 has taught us anything its that the majority of players are happy to **** with you for next to no benefit to themselves. I wouldn't suggest being able to level up in offline mode and use the same character online, that would be dumb. you could always have it like ark where you have a completely separate game for offline that you can invite friends to.
@shokugeki-kid no, why would the devs allow that. There are solutions to exactly that on almost every online game with an offline mode.

Buy a game on steam called salt. Solo SoT (used to think it was a puddle till SoT came out and explained the true meaning of a puddle)

I LOVE how you get to say how anyone playing a game is the right or wrong way. It makes life so much easier now that someone gets to tell us whether our gaming experience is legitimate or not.
@mogley1992
Offline mode?
I don't think Kiwibeard, Lavenderbeard, and Cinnamonbeard would allow that. 😄@zalm said in Please create an offline mode!:

Believe it or not, the Devs intended for PvP elements to be constantly present in the game. If you want a pure PvE experience, it's on you to be scanning the horizon for other vessels, so you can avoid them.
If you're somehow incapable of that, I don't know what to tell you. Regardless, Sea of Thieves was never designed to have a PvE-only or offline mode to begin with. PvE content isn't fleshed out enough to support itself on it's own; neither is PvP. It's only together they create the full experience. And yet you're complaining about not being able to play half the game alone, and at that the half that's easiest to burn yourself out on if you do it alone. Why would you only want to play half a game?
Look, I'm with you. Edge of your seat action when you got a ship within eyeshot while doing a voyage, or turning in loot. I love the anticipation(though I'm not usually aggressive or hostile) of a fight, even if the fight ends up being a cluster due to spawn camping, griefing, whatever. But the least you could do is refrain from the whole 'this way is right and your way is wrong' kinda talk. Just because you think one way doesnt make it right. Also, if the devs made this game as a pvp centric game, there would be actual rewards for sinking ships and killing players...but there isnt. Its a treasure hunting, PvE game with large PVP elements.
If you disagree because you think it's against Rare's vision or because of some technical issue (i.e. the waves), then by all means, say so.
But let's try to avoid insulting others' play styles and telling them they're "playing the game wrong". It's close minded and simply a weak argument.
While I enjoy the PvP element and love the thrill of being chased by those after my gold, I can also see the appeal of being able to sail about peacefully exploring islands even without any progression. Now personally, there are other things I think Rare should be working on first, but it isn't an unreasonable feeling to have.

That doesn't change the fact that asking for Offline mode or PvE-only servers is like asking to play half the game. And, like I said, the PvE half of the game is the part you're most likely to experience burnout playing, especially if you're playing alone.

half a game of nothing is still nothing
Personally, I wouldnt mind an offline, or private server for me and my firends to have fun, get wasted and sail around for no good reason without the looming threat of an attack. Only solo progress, just 4 guys getting drunk on the open seas.

for me they done **** ** up with brig it should not be in the game they need to purge it and add ability for friends only option and take away player restrictions on ships i should be allowed to invite as many as i want when ever I want with any ship i want and no randoms unless i wanted randoms but with brig i don't really want randoms period as the brig+randoms=grieff abuse simulation they should rename this to falsely accused imprisoned and executed simulation
if you get briged, just sit in the brig until they ask you to leave to clear a spot for a friend, they let you out, or they cash in 10k+ worth of loot(like they did to me) and get free rep and loot for watching tv.
@mogley1992 This makes it a good idea. This comment. Create a single player story mode that can be played offline with a character you cant use in multiplayer servers. It would give Rare an opportunity to dish out lore.
There would need to be a lot of NPCs to make it not feel so lonely.
It could also give some significance to islands for us. For instance: Mermaid Island could be a home for NPC mermaids that are quest givers, Thieves Hideout and other forts could be home to legendary pirates. Remember that awesome boss battle with the werebeast on Rum Runners Island?
If you've explored the islands like I have you'll notice some of them have pretty intricate cave systems. Almost like they were planning on using them as small dungeons. Right now they are pretty empty without random loot even. I'd love to see them utilized.

last game of sea of thieves i played was yesterday probably over 24 hours ago now they joined game i was in for 7+ hours on galleon doing a quest my self crews come and go new three come they put me in brig and then blew up ship with me in brig killing me then laughed and said they were going to another server to grieff others all on microphone
currently not in mood to play this game or purchase it in fact at any rate of there no action i may never buy the game and find something else
I would buy this game if it were PvE. So if it meant an offline mode that would work for me.
I really enjoy the sailing. The PvP seems to exist just for greifing purposes, so it's not for me. I would love to be able to experience the game on my own. Just relaxing and sailing the seas. Plus epecially for young kids, this would be a great game with its cartoony look and feel.
I really dont understand the people making comments how it would be unfair. Lol unfair in what way? There is nothing to gain except cosmetic items, that is it. There really is nothing more to this game.
As is stands now I am so glad I took advantage of the free 14 day trial. I would feel so miserable to be one of those fools who paid full price for this.

Cant believe no private group mode though. We have several xboxs but im not buying multiple copies of this game unless a private group/server option becomes available

How come the Ford that I paid 1k dollaridoos for cannot fly? Why can't they add this feature for me? I mean, I knew that the car couldn't fly when I bought it, but I wanted it to fly, so why wont they change it? Surely, they would gain a lot of customers by making flying cars??

Like anyone playing this game cares about fair. PC gamers are all 100% in favor of getting easy matchups against xbox players. 4 man crews love picking on solos. Why do they get to keep xp and gold when they get to play with an unfair advantage? This is hypocrisy and everyone knows it. The sole reason people oppose private servers is that it would mean they can no longer prey on people using their own unfair advantage.
I would love if there was an offline mode. I tried it at my friend's place and I was expecting it to be good which it is but the fact that theres no offline mode is the reason I didnt buy it. And I've had a good dozen people ask about it and as soon as I say that theres no offline coop story they were disappointed and they didnt buy the game either.

Get a better connection.
Quit asking devs to waste manpower and development time better spent on making a game cater to your [mod edited] connection.
Either move out of the sticks, quit being cheap our find the quiet enjoyment of games meant to be played alone.
