  • Thanks Rare!! This game is total [mod edit]. Wait an hour so you can get into a server, cant get friends to connect so you have to play alone. Microsoft wont let people do a refund. Looks like Rare was just in for a money grab. YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE MY BUSINESS AGAIN AND I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO DISCREDIT YOUR NAME TO ANYONE WILLING TO LISTEN. You make all this hype about being community minded. well i want out of the community. Give me my MONEY BACK THIEVES!

  • @akym293 Learn how the industry works, Think about what type of game you are buying and do some reasearch. Also game is fine they just have a few problems right now.

  • @cpt-toothpick i appreciate you assuming I had not done research into this. the type of game isnt the problem. If the game worked fine i would be able to hop on log in and play with my friends in a group with no problem. Hasnt happened yet. I know how the Industry works, that doesnt make it right. They are too busy trying to make clues for a banana quest instead of getting the game running properly.

    I understand why yer tiffed, but keep in mind that the game launched yesterday. Aye, there has been a lot of testing, and aye, RARE has done server occupancy tests, but even Disneyland was overcrowded, ran out of food, and experience ride breakdowns when it first opened.

    Please consider practicing patience. The Crew at RARE is working hard and diligently to make this game user-friendly. Servers WILL get acclimated. Friends WILL be able to join up in-game.

    You will get your money's worth for SEA OF THIEVES.

    Trust me. I've been here since July 2016. I've experienced bad -- if not-- heart-crushing times here too, but RARE knows how to make things right -- especially by doing right by their members.

    Just have patience. Things will be fixed and you will be satisfied.

  • @akym293 the banana thing is a diffrent team doing it, and the industry i was talking about is how most if not all multiplayer games like this have problem with thoes kinda things on lanch, specially if its a triple A title.

  • @cpt-toothpick What was all the beta testing for? i was under the assumption that when i pay $60 for a game it is a full working release of a game. Not a non-functioning game full of bugs. Sure it may be common place now days for developers to put c**p out on release but that doesnt make it right! thats exactly why they have triple a titles they should be above this. stop eating c**p and then thanking the people feeding it to you.
    @CaptnJaq i believe a better comparison would be buying a movie ticket online getting to the theater and the reel of film breaking. "oh sorry folks wait here for 3 days while we try and fix this reel."

  • Calls it a bad game because the servers had a bad starting off and you can't even wait 24 hours. I can tell the dev's put a lot of care into this game and they plan to add more. Possitive interaction will lead to possitive outcomes. Just saying **** you and **** this, does not fix anything. You bought the game on your own accord, what they showed is in the game. If you want your "Moneys worth", then help add more to the game instead of complaining. Sucks cause I'm sure a lot of these people complaining never even bought the game and just want to see it fail.

  • @treehousefury I have been looking forward to this game since the first time i saw the video months ago. Pre ordered after the first time i played beta which by the way worked flawlessly for me and my whole party. You're right i did buy it on my own accord assuming the released game would work as well or heaven forbid better than the betas. I Put too much Faith in Rare, as previously stated will never happen again. Im assuming you are getting into the game? having fun, maybe even with your friends?

  • @akym293 Actually, no. I got in earlier, played an hour, had to go so I hopped off for a few minutes, now im not able to get back on and no matter what I do, I get the Bronzebeard error. Beta servers worked fine because there were less people. After the final beta, a lot more people got the pre-order, and on the day of release a lot of people bought it. So when servers came around, they got hit with server melt-down when NA came around. This does not mean the game is bad. Their is a difference between, Connecting to the game, and playing the game. Once you're in, it's like heaven, nice and smooth. So I encourage you to have patience. It's now been a little over 24-hrs since release, and I still don't expect servers to be smooth, but it's already 10x better, with 10x more people getting in. Give it 3 more days, then make your judgements.

    But let me tell you. RARE doesn't put out "c**p," and their devs care about the relationships they have with their gamers. No matter what you say, I have experienced heart-breaking things here. And RARE has always stepped-up and mended scars that were once gapping wounds.. so much so that made me question my investment to This Game, RARE, and This Community.

    And I'm still here.

    But not because a company tried to kiss my hand and buff my boots. Not because a business is trying to steal money from me and views me as mindless money-bletting sheep. But because individuals run that company. Individuals, heart-felt people who care what happens to their fellow human beings.

    I might not be able to save you from wallowing in your own impatience and bitterness, but I can say the truth about RARE based from nearly 2 years of my life establishing a relationship with them.

    I'm sorry you're disappointed of the game and Rare right now. but I'll pray that you'll be able to hold on long enough to see RARE's dedication to you and to the other members come to fruition.

    @TreeHouseFury I understand there are a lot of people who are playing but answer me this. why open it up to xbox pass on release? Now after i pre order a game, giving Rare money on a promise, Rare is comfortable turning around and giving the same thing to people who can sign up for free two week trial of xbox pass, download and play sea of thieves as soon as its done. While others like me have already paid for that service and can not even receive the products promised. You say this happens frequently with new released games? not only did they fail to provide a safety for over used servers they opened up to a whole new market of people giving free access at launch.

  • @akym293 Free access at launch? For 2 weeks through that dumb game pass thing. But that's 2 weeks. We get the game for eternity, and their first big update is only happening 3 months after the release. Those people who get the "free pass" are not going to see much of those changes. Day 1 patches have already made things much better. They will be listening to feedback as well. I just beleive we shouldn't talk **** about the game, then not voice their opinions on what would make it better. Launch is not a "end all be all" thing as well. Which I've see that as a misconception to some. I've already paid as well. I disagree with the game pass as well, but i'm sure that was some agreement between the 2 and that's why microsoft supported SOT so much. And what do you mean by failing to provide safety?

  • @akym293 First.. Full off bugs? I got no idea if we are playing the same game but I can only think off two of them, Push to talk needs to be reactivated everytime you log on and item management for the servers.

    We'll you didn't, if you had done your research you'd know they won't refund.

  • @malgarth They need to fix a LOT of issues not even related to servers. Get some real voice overs in there, some real story for the islands we go to, LARGER ZONES, MORE SHIPS IN ZONES, pvp zones separate from pve. Give us something to stay in the game with. Here's an idea. How about you FINISH your game first and THEN release it? This is a game for everyone. You should cater to EVERYONE. Right now, you're catering to NO ONE. Bad game development practices Rare.

  • @wizard-of-nozs in the real world companies are bound by deadlines. They're only allowed so many extensions, see Mass Effect: Amdromeda for instance. The BioWare team wanted to push the game another year and EA said too bad. Companies have deadlines, and day 1 launches on MP games are always a debacle. This is basically common sense at this point. They will be adding FREE content on a regular basis. Hopefully the actual feedback on this site, not just the entitled "GAME IS AWFUL1!!1!1" posts will help them steer in the right direction. Its helped PUBG and Fortnite and countless other games.

    Don't say "car companies don't have debacles" or anything else silly, multiple car companies have had multiple recalls because of defects that have resulted in death. I think you'll be ok if the servers are spotty from time to time.

    That better comparison is worse.

    If a reel of film breaks that's on the theatre playing the film, not the movie makers.

  • @demonhunter114 They had 3 + years of development. Their deadline was way more than enough. They knew what they were doing. This is Rare, not some new company. They need to fix it or lose what little people they have left.

  • @captnjaq what are you talking about? Every decent honest company offers a refund within a limited time and that is how it should be done. Rare not offering refunds shows even they dont have much faith in their game at the first place.

  • @demonhunter114 there a lot of games published by big companies that are super good, your argument doesnt justify the incompetence of the game and issues with the game. They had more than enough time and they even postponed the launch.

    You knew what you were buying and if didn't bother to read up and educate yourself it is your own fault and no amount of crying and whining will change that.

    That statement directly contradicts itself... If you knew how the industry worked, how the game developing process worked, if you knew how the infancy stage of an Online Multiplayer game worked, you would know that there is no such thing as a smooth launch.

    All online multiplayer games have huge issues at launch, no exceptions... And you want a refund because of a normal launch process that you clearly haven't experienced before?

    List of games that had the exact same issues during launch:

    World of Warcraft

    Guild Wars 2

    Elder Scrolls: Online

    Team Fortress 2

    They all had the same issues SoT is having right now, at launch buddy... All games like this go through the same process of issues during launch. xD

    They did upload a video explaining several issues they were working on... followed by several hours later, a maintenance fixing some of those problems... Watch that video and look at their exhausted launch-day faces and tell me again how they aren't working on fixing those issues as fast as possible.

    It's day 4 or 5 after launch buddy, you haven't really given the devs a chance to fix everything yet.

    If anything, mate, the matter of refund would be toward the vendor of the game. The producer would have to deal with a recall of sorts. But for RARE, they've done what they have always done: Listen and Respond. I played after the Schedule Maintenance today, and I could feel a difference. No spazing, lagging, and I didn't hit a glitch.

    "Don't have faith in their game" does not exist in RARE's mindset. If that were the case, they would have made this a linear narrative console game and not branch out into PC and the mmorpg format. This is a new thing for RARRRE and are managing this new venture well. They've grown since Summer 2016. They are gaining ground and improving.

    They have ALL the faith in their product from the very moment of its conception.

    What about the people who are enjoying the game? Is it feasible that they feel catered to?

  • You're doing it wrong.

    I've played 80% of my time with friends and I probably have 40+ hours play time. Of course there were a few small delays but after patiently waiting and retrying, all worked fine.
