Ok thanks for the info. Be lazy all you want dude 👍

Cursh? Simply put, an act involving what?

Mouse and keyboard.
....Low latency, high end system with the latest drivers, etc., etc., etc.
As some have mentioned previously; sportsmanship, depth of engagement and most important of all......comedic timing.
Seriously, if you cannon yourself over a island and are able to land in the middle my ship, you deserve every piece of loot I have. Hell, I will help you carry it back to your ship, escort you to the outpost, and safe guard you while you cash it in.
If this was one of you, call out. We had the best PVP experience ever in the scale test. A ship lead us on at full sail and when we chased, two of them jumped off at full speed and caught our freaking ladder when we were doing like 20 nauts. It was ridic and we were so happy to be dead. Doing something amazing and hilarious is always good in my boat, rather than just ramming me.

Well! Let me tell you the story!
So there I was at an outpost. I had one more chest to turn in but something caught my eye off into the distance. It was a galleon coming in,full speed ahead.
I knew I had to act fast. So grabbed my last chest and turned it in just as they dropped anchor next my ship. A couple of the scalywags border my ship, pulled the anchor up and sent it off to sea. Well.... they tried, it just ended up running into the outpost and stopping. One of them during all this managed to kill me. It was time for revenge.
After I came back from the dead I managed to sneak on their boat. Yet, as I was climbing the ladder to get on the boat I could hear them raising their anchor, so I decided to stay on the ladder for the time being. We started sailing out to sea while I was still on their ladder and I could hear them joking and tee heeing. I noticed one climbing to the crows nest. At that point I knew where one was and knew there was one other at least driving the boat so I knew it was my time then to climb all the way up. I ran strongly to the captains quaters and out the side door to hide on the outside deck in the back.
I rode a little bit more back there till we were out in the middle of no where. It was my time to strike. I charged straight after the driver from the captains quaters and slayed him with ease!! One of his lackeys at the sail hoist next to him just stared at me with shock. I then slayed him before he even knew what hit him.
The rest of their crew were on the main deck and started to shoot at me I took one hit. I jumped down to them and ran strieght for their anchor. I dropped the anchor while being shot at then jumped off the boat, swam under it and climbed up the other side. I then sent one other to Davy Jones locker before the last one killed me.
What I should have done was searched for a powder keg and shot it down below..... I’ll remeber that for next time. Then hid and killed them when they came to repair.
Now, did I get anything out of that? Heck yeah I did!! A ton of fun!... and pay back hahahaha hardy har har!
Fight with Honor.
I respect fellow pirates who use their in-game mics/communication to parley.
A good Cutlass fight is hard to come by, and I invite all pirates to engage in clashing steel before opening fire on any given pirate without reason.
What makes a good PvP'er?

That my friend was an awesome story. I didn’t want it to end and I would have bought the book if it was longer 😂
Btw I like your style, maybe we should do a two man at some point. We should easy take down a galleon 👍 my name here is my gamertag. I know it’s cheesy but that is because someone reported my name for probably the 10th time now. I always change it to the same name but with different numbers 😂😂😂
Hit me up sometime and we can have some scurvy fun 👍@tronchedekek said in What makes a good PvP'er in SoT? (different kind of post):
Being on a beach playing music and dodging cannonball while 4 people on a galleon are shooting at me was my definition of being good at PvP.
Even though that is funny as heck, and might make you good at pvp, we might also have to switch over to them and guess how bad their PVP was L**O! a very good story though.

Killing pirates, sinking ships & not dying much!
That's what makes a good pvp'erNope. it really depends on what you are doing. killing defenseless pirates repeatedly means you are killing pirates, but it in no way makes you good at pvp lol

Now the parley part is tough. I try to use the in game chat as much as I can stand, but XBL has notoriously awful quality. Whenever we didn't see anyone for a while, we usually switched to our private discord and muted in-game, so we wouldn't hear random people coughing as they sailed past.
I really wish the voice quality was better so I didn't have to remember to turn it back on to talk to people.
@minusculemoss48 Aye.
I play on Xbox One S, I noticed that the "crewmate's audio" by default is coming out of speakers rather than your headphones, which makes most people think that game chat sucks.
Once you swap it to Headphones, everything is fine, I've been able to help a few crews do this so they can interact with other crews, and strongly recommend for any console users.@ch3wiie I wonder if it sounds better on Xbox? Because we're all on really good headsets and it sounds awful. Low quality and lag. All of us are on fast connections as well. It's not the worst ever, but it's really annoying when you're streaming and connected to discord and the XBL voice is totally out of sync and echoing.

Good? Tactics and Precision.
Effective? Persistence, Luck and How equipped they are. (Wood, Food and Cannon balls)
you bring up a good point here. winning the battle can be divided into 2 different groups. either way you win, but were you any good?
so here is a quick scenario, you have 4 people on your galleon, you are fully equipped with 100 bananas, 100 planks, and 100 cannon balls. you went up against a sloop with 2 pirates on it. you eventually sink their ship but you only have 50 bananas, 70 planks, and no cannon balls left.
the one thing we know was that they were effective because their ship sank.
the real question is were they really that good? l**o
just because you can kill someone doesn't make you good. anybody can do that. it is all about how you kill them. i could join a crew and them start talking about camping an outpost and laughing about killing one guy multiple times and i would probably just leave the crew. that sounds very boring and unskilled to me
@ch3wiie It's been since last gen that I used an Xbox, but at least for PC games on XBL, I've always had lag and bad quality vs. other services. Maybe a better headset would make a difference, but my TB Recon sounds great for everything else that isn't Skype or XBL and that applies to all the other headsets I've had as well.
Like I'll have someone blast themselves on the deck, we all fight and then 10 seconds later we hear "ARRRRR!"

Speaking of that, i have a story as well. i was in a crew of 4, the first crew i met. we have just gotten done turning in some quests and 2 of them had to leave so it was just my mate and i left. we have a galleon so we figured, "ok, lets go get drunk at the pub". so we were messing around drinking and throwing up all over the place, then all of a sudden two pirates walked up to the pub. One of the pirates immediately attacked us, you will find out why later. i am very quick to fight back after provocation so the sword fight insued. with me been drunk at the time it took me longer than usual to run through my foe. then the other pirate runs up close and i could here him talking(luckily we had switched to game chat after the other two had left). he kept saying "we are friendly, we are friendly!) here comes the conversation:
"we are friendly"
Me: "sure doesn't seem like it to me buddy"
"look, i put my sword away"
Me: "ok, so are we cool then?"
"yeah, i promise"
Me:"you know your buddy started that right?"
"he didn't mean to, we just got attacked and were running and we thought you were part of them because we haven't seen anybody else"
Me: "its all good dude"
"our ship is sinking because they shot us with cannon balls"
Me: "really where"
"come look"So at this point i walk out of the pub(the outpost that has the pub on top of the mountain) and look down and sure enough i see the little sloop finish sinking. the first thing i thought is, ok so there is only 2 of them thank god lol, then i thought "hey, i can see some action" the conversation continues.
Me: "So are these guys still around?"
"yeah they stole our chests and were turning them in"
Me: "well lets go hahaha"we all run down there and they are going back to their ship. i call out but no answer. they might have been in party chat who knows. knowing me i run into the water and start swimming, my mouth is salivating. my buddy and i kill the guy that was trying to fend us off in the water while the others swam to the boat. poor guy didn't stand a chance and didn't fend for too long lol. we were able to board the ship before they took off and finished off the rest of the crew. after killing them a couple of times(not a camper, we were doing for the little guys) we got a little bored and decided to go back to the pub. the galleon crew tried to shoot us with cannon balls but were pathetically unsuccessful. the other two joined us in the barf fest at the pub and we had a jolly old time. the one pirate that attacked apologized and i gladly accepted the apology.
the galleon crew were evidently to scared to come to the pub so they proceeded to sink our docked ship which we had a very good laugh over and continued to drink our grog.
That my friends is a good day in sea of thieves, i met some new friends and made some new stories. This game is going to be awesome.
to end this i would like to welcome all pro pve people to invite on xbox and along on their journeys. I love pvp but i love grinding out chests even more. You help me level and i will help you keep your chests. good sailing to everybody!!!!

To go even deeper into this. these are to hypothetical conversations i have with two different people. both convos have me saying wow! one has me say it at the beginning and one has me say it at the end. you'll find out why. here we go:
"i killed 20 pirates!"
Me: "WOW(the beginning), how did you do that?"
"my mates and i boarded a ship and after we killed them we spawn killed them 5 more times so that makes 20"
Me: "oh........ok"second convo:
"I killed 4 pirates!"
Me: "that's cool but that doesn't sound like much to be honest"
"yeah but the first one i killed had just dug up a treasure chest which i stole and hid after i killed the guy. the next one was with him but was running for the ship. a shark killed that one while he was swimming but i still count that because i made him run for the ship. Then i grabbed a powder keg and swan to the ship. as i was placing the keg in their hull a gunshot barely missed me. i turned around with my sword and ran him through. once i blew the keg i knew the ship was done for so i was ready to leave the ship. as i came up to the deck i saw the last guy swimming away into the sea. just for the fun of it i turned his own cannon on him and that finished him off real quick. after their ship sank and they respawned somewhere else i went back and got their chest i hid and hopped on my ship on the other side of the island and turned it in myself and it was a captains chest so i got a lot of gold"
Me: "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(the end) i want a truce like right now! please! Pretty please?big difference huh? lol
@sillycolt302271
Absolute true the only time i would ever spawn kill would be to buy my crew time to off load some treasure from the enemy ship. After that we would leave. I would not be proud of those kills nor would I brag about it, but it had to be done for the booty, not the kill. Other then that it’s just not impressive.well mostly the difference is whether or not your gamer tag is A Cranky Eskimo. Otherwise you know your bad at pvp
Jk lol but yeah I think not spawn camping for no reason is a start, other than that, yeah getting kills and sinking ships of players who are trying to actually play the game, and not dying.
You really know your good if you can chase down a ship, board and kill them as it sinks, and not die so when you return to your ship you can still see the route your ship took during the battle with the dotted line on the map. I wish they would add a smaller red dotted line for our player route too. Lol

yep. that could also be an example of good pvp. did you do anything cool though? lol
@sillycolt302271 lol yes was probably one of the first to do all the things you described with the sorrow and gunpowder barrels etc, but I guess i deserved your comment lol, I know I’m not better than anyone else but I still dare ye to test me on the seas! I have sunk galleons singlesloopedly on numberous occasions, stolen and earned treasure hordes beyond your wildest imagination, won the E3 contest as one of the 6 fabled crews to do so, and my legend on this sea won’t end there friend! Avast ye and prepare to be boarded!
Oh and some of my most fun pvp is when i stowaway on enemy ships, sometimes known to them but they can’t get me out of the crows nest, which I usually end up ditching thereafter, or unknown to them and I’ve snuck chests onto islands and retrieved them later, and also jumped down at the last moment when a player went to turn in. Gotta check that crows nest... lol. These may fall under bad pvp depending on your opinion.
