Cancel season 17 and, start over again.

  • We don´t need another useless faction to do 250 quests, 1000 miles and grinding 500 levels. Please cancel that season and start thinking about something really interesting for the game. If that faction is the only thing you have prepared for us in that season better do nothing.

  • You might not like it, but what about everyone else?

No one is pushing you to do anything in SoT.

Don't play the faction if you don't want to...

  • Smugglers fit right into the whole pirate theme, i welcome it.

Everything new to do is good, and as we are playing SoT, we can choose what to do. More tools/toys in the sandbox are always welcome for everyone to use, not not.

So lets not complain before we even know what it is all about. Perhaps they will be a "normal" faction, or perhaps they will be more like the bilge rats (a faction not to level up but to do missions for)?

  • Oh yes. Rare should scrap the entire season, throwing away all the money and man-hours spent making it, because one person is not happy. /s

I think you're thinking of a Trading Company

  • You don’t have to do it then.

While everyone is busy with the new stuff. You can focus on the past stuff.

  • @aheras5916
Disagree. I am hoping that this faction/trading company has a focus on Stealth. Gives us new stealth tools/abilities to use when playing as them. Commendations around not sinking or killing your opponent but stealing from underneath their noses without doing those things. If smugglers give a new play style/tools then its a welcome addition. If its just a recolor of the trading companies then not so keen.

    But you don't understand!
OP is clearly the Main Character, hence how they speak for everyone who plays the game with 'We don't need this', and how they can tell Rare to throw away money and time sunk into a new season!

If they don't want/don't enjoy something, then no one should!

(/s again, just to be clear).

  • @aheras5916 is it a new trading company?

@aheras5916 is it a new trading company?

i hope its a tell tale

  • @aheras5916 I think they would have told us that by now.

  • yea another faction doesnt make sense to me. especially if all they have to offer is bigger kegs to instant sink ships...... this seems like it would just fit under bilgerats as thats where all the old school bi-weekly content was catagorized under. and this season sounds like its just more of that. it shouldnt be a whole new faction. honestly it was the laziest most lackluster xbox show case announcement they have done. it had no substance. didnt show us anything the season had to offer outside of a bilgerat adventure

  • @keylessword4029 from their announcement I understood a new faction like a new trading company. If it is only in bilge rats section something to do in that season and forget forever, that could be ok. But if it a complete new trading company I will just quit this game. This game already has too much same style content to just starting a merchant recolour.

  • Tell me one thing about the update. Who are the smugglers league? What are the core mechanics of this update? What commendations are there? You saw the teaser and think it's the whole thing? Just wait until we at least hear a single actual thing about it.

  • Yeah no this new season did not give a great first impression from its gameplay-less trailer at the showcase

People are legitimately getting sick of the current state the game continues to be in, and we've gone through 2.3 different seasons that are just trading company filler that people do not like to engage in (especially in combat), with loot that isn't very valuable, with voyages that are consistently draining or value-less to the experience, and with a player base that cries foul if you shoot their ship before they even see it.

People don't need or deserve this update, it currently doesn't showcase that it adds anything that people are looking for (the keg rowboats from 3 years ago do not count I'm sorry to say). I don't want to say scrap the update (because let's be honest with ourselves, they were working on it for a few years already), but they really should try looking at what the community is looking for: stable servers, stable coding, tons of bug fixes, actually expanding previously added content that could use updates and touch ups (such as burying/quest board, hourglass, and captaincy/guilds).

Like I'm not even mad or excited, I'm just disappointed. A lot of other people that play other games alongside Sea of Thieves can also agree, it's just disappointing currently.

  • A bit harsh dont you think? Trust me I am not really hyped about the new season myself but, it does feel a tad extreme.

  • @themetalman4011 Agreed, I was originally on the side of season 17 looks bad, However cancelling the entire season would delay it and make a lot of work and effort useless.

  • For those who are underwhelmed by the trailer, maybe start thinking about smugglers in pop culture, how the game currently works and what smugglers could do in the world. Throw out ideasfor the devs to see. You could save the season as it were with a good idea.
