Sea Fort (Raisable Flag)

  • Just a simple Sea Fort idea/mechanic that makes the main tower next to the bells have a flag box and pole that will raise the forts flag or lower it if its been defeated making it when raised it shows on the map table for everyone as claimed or occupied with a symbol. This could open up even more RP/PVP scenarios for Sea Forts. I know the Reapers Mark could be essential used for this too but since so much focus went into the Sea Fort update with RP in mind I feel for RP sake you really should be able to do this on the Sea Fort it self.

  • Yes, 100%, they have to do more with Sea Forts. They are cool as is but have SO much potential.

I hope Rare sees Adventures as opportunities to add to existing content, in addition to adding new stuff. There's also still so much that could be done with Vaults, Outposts, Kraken Encounters, etc.

  • There needs to be some sort of reward for defenders and attackers to fight over a fort tho.

  • @talvheet This is where the RP aspect comes in there is a way to do this already, nothing is stopping a crew or even an alliance that claims a Sea Fort to keep storing the loot from the day while a few stay behind as guards building up a huge vault and they could even call it out on social media like check your map tables if this fort is captured/claimed it might be us and we got a huge haul of loot ready to be fought for etc. that's just one of so many different ways to play it out in RP/PVP....

  • @farthestsun RP is not reason enough to engage in an activity without a reward.

Unfortunately the loot despawns on the fort.

  • @lem0n-curry not if you juggle it to reset the despawn timer. So by leaving guards behind that means part of their job would be juggling the loot to keep it active.

It does require a bit of work though.

  • @farthestsun
What if also, when two of the same region Fortresses have been defeated and the flag raised, you'll be able to see Emissary ships from the Fortress Map around that specific region?

Let's say, you've raised the flag from both Fortresses in the Wilds. Now you'll be able to see Ships around the Wilds region, but only from the Fortress map. (Or also ships map?)

    @talvheet
That could work as a reward completing two fortresses and plus the loot inside.

    Thoughts? Too OP?
    Happy sailing!

  • Raise the flag a 20k worth of treasure spawns in the treasury, and the event is flagged on the map. After 20 minutes the key spawns/unlocks and whomever controls the fort will have acess to the booty for example.

  • @talvheet I get where you are coming from but looking at the tools already on offer with such a big sandbox as Sea of Thieves there is a way to gain from both sides already in the game just by using a beacon/flag to call others to a Sea Fort location. It would be really cool though too if such a simple request brought in a mechanic that altered the already existing loot to make it even more rewarding i'm not against this at all could be interesting... great feedback all around as well!

  • @jumli7 love the idea of the map at the Sea Forts getting the Reaper5 perk but I don't think you should have to do two forts to get it rather just defend a single fort for X amount of time and be rewarded with the Sea Fort Map only displaying it unless of course you and crew/alliance are already Reaper5 but this wouldn't cater to them it would be a way for others to setup a kinda anti reaper division and would work great for them to monitor activity to give reaper 5 something to worry about but in the end it would be up to the crew how they use the info once again adding to the sand box features in Sea of Thieves!

  • These are all really great ideas. There's about a million awesome ways you could incentivize Fort PvP. Let's do it, Rare!
