[Suggestion] Adding a 6 man ship to sea of theives.

  • It would be amazing to add a 6 man ship with 8 -10 cannons, it would make battles very interesting and let crews have more people. Although a 6 man ship in open crew might be a little toxic XD It would be a little overpowered but they could de-buff it over time to make it fair. Obviously a ship of this size would be slow, so it wouldn't be too op, and you could easily run away from it if you were in like a sloop or something. Making it a 6 man would let more people play together. Personally my crew has about 5-6 people which is a bit of a pain when you can only have a Galleon. I think it would be very fun! What do you all think!? Maybe something like the British HMS Victory, if you google it you can see the type of ship I'm talking about. Maybe not as big as that though.

  • i agree add that unit up

  • @carrotdude82 A six person ship has been suggested hundreds of times over the years, whether RARE will actually implement one is anyone’s guess (can’t remember if they gave an official statement on their views on a six man ship).

  • Please no; 4 pirates is hard enough to maintain/get together/coordinate/defeat; 6 would just be overkill, with far too many pirates talking at once thinking that they're all the boss of something, and further reducing the number of ships on the server - both by simply being present, and sinking others.

  • @galactic-geek Four pirates may be hard enough to get together/maintain/coordinate (do not agree on the defeat part), and yes it would be harder to get 6 together, but if you are able to maintain/get together/coordinate 6 pirates then you should be able to have them all on one ship at once.

For the server size they could literally just make it so that there are a max of 36 players per server, and a max of 6 ships. For sinking others I do not really see how that is a bad thing as if you would be unable to run away from a ship which would most likely go ridiculously slow upwind then you will probably be sunk already.

  • @jofjjay the thing is they are so far not able to make the server hold more ships/players, when the server is loaded up with 6 active ships you already feel the strain it has on them AND rare has already stated that the ships strain the servers so hard memory wise that they havent found a way to add more yet.

  • @callmebackdraft Oh they also have said it cannot hold more players, did not know that. I had only heard that it could not handle more ships, so I figured if you kept ship count the same but increased player count it wouldn't do anything.

I think they did... A 6 man ship would have too much firepower and would destroy the ship balance, due to it being basically impossible to rob, because of it's overwhelming firepower. xD

  • Y would a 6 man need 8 cannons

  • @galactic-geek dont be bad then

    Y would a 6 man need 8 cannons

Because 4 on each side, thought that was pretty simple

It's not a matter of being bad. At some point, the numbers simply become overwhelming, both in power and utility. Having that many pirates that close together can also have adverse affects on the server as well. I have no doubt that Rare has done extensive testing in regards to this.

  • I can see the balancing concerns. However, a new arena mode that puts 10+ players on a Man-O-War ship, against another team wouldn't face that issue. That'd actually be pretty fun!

  • 6 / 8 / 10 player ships would be amazing, but I don't think you could balance them in the same environment with 2 / 4 player ships. They'd need their own server / instance.

  • @carrotdude82

    That doesn't answer my question
