While I love the addition of rejoining a server if a server error happens or i briefly lose connection, it doesnt do me any good if my boat keeps moving, hits something, and sinks by the time i log back in.
Spent an hour trying to get a rag and bones crate for the spoils of plenty store from a seapost to seapost voyage only to lose them in the middle of open ocean with no real way to find them again.
@mr-dragon-raaar What use is having the boat move on its own if youre not on it? It defeats the purpose of the feature if anything happens to it in the minutes youre gone from it because theres no one there to fix it.
Having your boat anchored doesn't keep you from having the kraken, a meg or a skeleton ship spawning... So it won't be a ideal solution either.
And what if you're being chased by another player and your game crashes ? I'm sure you would be glad that your boat didn't auto-anchor and just kept going.
Giving the people an option in the menu could be a solution but I'm not sure if it's necessary or worth the time.
Rejoining is essentially there to help you not losing progress if you were close to finish a quest in my opinion. It can help you keep your loot but the world keeps turning while you're not there. It will never be a "100% safe" option :/
@r0guesquirrel Wait this is a thing? When was it added in? (just wondering, didn't realize it was a thing) but I think that auto anchoring is a bit hindering in a chase.

Don't think about only situations where you are alone and no one is around. Think about situations where you could be chased after or the meg spawned or skeleton ships or anything.
A stationary target is the worst thing you want out on waters when you are not on your boat.
