I love sailing, however, the game fails to hold my interest with its lackluster 'mercenary voyages'. There's nothing mercenary about them. Give us a voyage that sends us to sink some skeleton ships and promises a decent or GOOD payout from doing so. The design of these monthly update focuses on increasing player on player interaction rather than providing actual fun pve engagement. I want more action, and not just PvP wise. Send us to fight dangerous enemies, a stronger meg, A bigger kraken, and some privateering action. I am done with these mediocre faction errands to dig for things and then having to defend that loot, that took me and my crew hours to obtain, from being stolen away by other players (which is pretty much what SoT is)
Enough of these lackluster voyages
The only “voyage” I’ve ever done was a chapter or two of the Talk Tales.
Now I never dug up a chest or solved a riddle or transported a chicken but I legitimately enjoyed the Tall Tales stuff I did.
I didn’t finish it but I did like it. I just don’t have enough time.
But yeah. More of that.
Oh I just remembered what I was thinking. I agree with op.
Really 🤣more PVE no give us more quests that involves PVP. I cant remember the last time me or my crew had a really good pvp fight..I dont know what server your in if u keep getting PVP 😂but were lucky to find any ship that wants to PVP..as for the new quest being PVP nope never seen a single ship come near us... all these monthly updates can be done in 8 hours or so plus😂
@surgy24 I wouldn't mind PvP if it weren't so easy to sink a player ship. Literally all that's needed is a single gunpowder barrel. Why even use cannons?
Lackluster? I disagree. I can:
- find buried treasure.
- solve riddles.
- fight skeletons.
- go hunting for animals.
- deliver cargo.
- attempt a fort raid.
- fight a fleet.
- brave the Devil's Roar.
- learn about the lore of SoT.
- explore freely.
- complete commendations.
- go fishing.
- cook food.
- make friends.
- make enemies.
- attack other players.
- run from other players.
- create alliances with other players.
- create my own mini-games.
- play stealthily.
- steal from other players.
- do a bonus voyage.
- fight monsters.
- find Easter eggs.
- mess around.
...and more.
There's plenty to do in the SoT! The only thing lacking here, IMO, is your own imagination! Open it up to the sea of possibilities!
@uribedh
I dont feel how u feel about the pvp aspect, but i like ur ideas of fighting beefed up enemies.
Reminds me of the Hungering Deep. I dont like working with others but that event was a blast.I to wish they had some new types of quests. Everytime a new voyage comes out i get dissapointed its just a mix of the ususal ones with just some new loot
@galactic-geek Some of those encounters take hours to achieve. Sometimes I just can't invest 6 to 8 hours into the game. Fleet clouds are a rarity.

Lol he said “attempt”
A fort raid. There is no attempt! There is do or fail!@glannigan Whether you succeed or fail is besides the point. I used the word attempt because not only do I know how contested it can oftentimes get but because I was denoting the action of doing it, not how well you did when you did it. The point is, regardless of whether you succeed or not doesn't change the action of or time taken attempting it. It's still a time-consuming activity regardless of the outcome.

If they add things that are hard or make current things harder the casuals will cry so loud they will nerf EVERYTHING down to participation trophy level like it is now.

Wait. Did you basically just say that you are afraid that they will nerf the game down to current levels? How can you be afraid of something happening when it's already happened?
@galactic-geek
I fear it will get worse. Easier and easier.Couple nights ago was fighting a meg.
11 year old nephew was watching.
He says, " how come he never attacks you? He just swims around and lets you hit him."Say to him, " the game wants to make everyone feel welcome. Players said it was too tough so they nerfed him. "
He laughed and said " well hes way to easy. He barely fights back. This is lame "
I could only sigh. Had to go attack a skelly ship after that to get my manhood back. 😡

Lol!! That's a funny story!
I kind of agree. The Mercenary voyages are rather pedestrian compared to the Bilge Rat Adventures last year. Each one brought something new and interesting. From shooting into Skelly Thrones, Hunting Mermaid Statues, Fighting Skelly Ships, using Cursed Cannonballs on Skellies, or killing yourself different ways. The Mercenary Voyages just feel like the regular fetch quests, but with a bigger target on your back then normal.
I would love to have a new big enemy like a Giant Crab you can fight, or a new region of the map like an Ice Region with floating Icebergs threatening ships, under water mermaid region, or a Swamp region with narrow water ways that could lead to interesting encounters.@galactic-geek said in Enough of these lackluster voyages:

LOL I mean when they release something new and you know it's really so hard and then all the complaint threads flood in so Rare then has a knee jerk reaction so they then nerf that new thing down to easy mode like everything is currently. I wonder why these folks who want easy mode just don't go play Minecraft or one of the Lego games....oh wait I know, it's cuz those games are too hard too LOL.

The pvp is terrible. People run so much it's not even worth it. There is 20x the amount pve than pvp lol

Oh dear. How tragic.
That's the objective of Sea of Thieves, to steal others' loot and sink their ship, it's all pvp-based.
Most people preffer doing PvP rather than PvE, I find it more interesting at least.
Still, you're right, they need to add more PvE things, maybe more bosses, a kraken where you can actually see the monster, and not only the tentacles, a big skeleton, other things, they need to change that, it's too boring to play PvE for hours.
But I really would enjoy to be in the servers you're playing, I barely find any player in 3 hours of gameplay in the same server.@-hombre said in Enough of these lackluster voyages:

Exactly in 0 shape, form or fashion should I be able to bag reaper's chest all day without conflict, do any quest line, or just sit in one spot watching near by ships, go afk for a few minutes come back still nothing has happened

Not really, just being a bit of a troll.
Don't mind me, it's all in fun. =D

Hey at least he admits he's one of the positive "troll"s that frequent this board.
@shamanmclamie I loved the "Go Kill Yourself" Bilge Rat Adventure, it has such a positive message behind it! XD
