French translation can be impacting for users

    Hi there ! I have completed all the Tall Tales yesterday and my crew and I just spot a lot of mistakes in the french translation.

    Some are minor, some are really messing up with the understanding of the tall tales.

    For example in the Tall Tales number 5 with the lovers. The islands name are totally missing from the book. (picture 1)
    Plus, in the number 8 there is a lot of symbols wich are not truely translated. (picture 2)

    I'm sure some peoples will be troubled with those little translation mistakes and it can be really nice to have some modification on it.

    Are translated in french by "Human Face"

    In quest n°8, once you get the Morningstar Outfit and talk to Tracy at the tavern, she guides you to Tyler the Tools merchant.

    In the english version, Tyler sends you to Sunken Grove.

    In the french version, he speaks about Shipwreck Bay. "shipwreck cay..."

    There is nothing in shipwreck bay and without the info you need to go to sunken, you're stuck :)

    I'll try yo add some screenshots later.

    Sea of Thieves translation issues are some of the reasons why I put my Xbox in English. There are too many literal translation (word for word) in it, loses Rare's style and sometimes it removes some part of the gameplay. I remember during the Skeleton Thrones, in English the descriptions of the commendations had a riddle to find where the thrones were but in French it was directly giving you the name of the islands.

    I understand that translation is something really hard, but there are indeed some important improvements to be done around that for every languages the game supports.

    • TT 1 : p Devil Ridge "Le sanglier se tapit sous une grand muraille de roche"
      "the boar cowers in sand beneath a vast rock wall" "in sand" is missing.

    French give the name of the location, tho the english make you guess it.

    I had that yesterday, thankfully I play in English, but my 2 mates had a French version. If you're not aware of that you're basically stuck. :(

    Later there are some translations issue with the code as well, "setting sun" is translated "parametre soleil" (sun parameter) and "face" is translated "visage" which is like "head".

    Tale 8 in French can't be finished without knowing this.

    @voidfactory I think you should have a portuguese Dev as well... The translation to portuguese has had/ still have awful mistakes.

    An example is the legendary commendation to deliver X amount of Athena's Chest, it tell us to deliver X chest of sorrows.

    The indicator of Y button in the inventory says Loja (shop) instead of armazenar (store)

    And a lot of other things we usually encounter in the game,.and I'm tired.of report just to see anything change...

    thats funny cause in the german version its the same case.even in rogue of the morningstar "sunset" is translated wordly "sonne einstellen" what means setting the sun

    We spot another mistakes, in the Art Of The Trickster quest (n°6).

    English lines "I lost my head" is missing in french translation. It's an important clue for users.

    In Tale 8, one sign translation of "setting sun" is "soleil paramètres", it should be "Soleil Couchant".

    The Shipwreck Bay vs Sunken Grove mistaken clue from Tyler should be corrected ASAP, it's gonna impact a lot of people.

    Toujours pas de correction de traduction pour la fable 8 concernant la direction. shipwreck bay alors que ça devrait être the sunken grove :/
