[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?

[A]: I played Halo a lot as a kid, first-person shooters were my favourite. I then got into MMOs with Lord of the Rings Online. There was an open area for PvP called the Ettenmoors where there was a mix of PvE and PvP threats. There were no rules, so sometimes you would get Zerged and you always had to be on your toes. I always wanted a game to combine asymmetric combat and PvW/PvP, so now I play a lot of open world shooter games.

[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?

[A]: I enjoyed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag a lot and wanted a pirate game with multiplayer elements. I was intrigued by Sea of Thieves when it came out, but didn’t actually get around to playing it until almost a year later. I also played Sid Meier’s Pirates! when I was younger, and wanted to revisit some swashbuckling magic. So I hopped on one evening and had a friendly open Sloop mate teach me the ropes (you can still see that in a video).

[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?

[A]: I wanted a productive outlet from playing lots of video games. That way, time wasted wouldn’t necessarily be wasted. I started out on Windows Movie Maker doing very basic cuts, but now spend dozens of hours on a single video, creating complex storylines and narratives.

[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?

[A]: I like telling stories. There are many stories to tell that everyone has experienced through gameplay. I like taking those narratives and turning them into a high-quality, fully fleshed-out experience for people.

My goal is to make people who understand video games as a whole, but don’t necessarily play the games I play, be able to appreciate and understand the events occurring in my videos.

[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?

[A]: It can be frustrating always trying to come up with fresh new content, especially if you play for a long session without finding anything that really inspires you. Also weaving a narrative storyline in your head as you play, but finding it doesn’t come to fruition, can be draining!

[Q]: What different channels do you have?

[A]: I have a Twitch and a YouTube channel.

[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?

[A]: It was very early on in my experience with Sea of Thieves. I was a new player in an open crew and we rolled up on an anchored Sloop. We went on their ship and said we were friendly and that we just wanted supplies, meanwhile my crewmate went to get an explosive barrel while they were distracted and... BOOM!

[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?

[A]: I like sneaking and using game mechanics and game knowledge to my advantage to pull off daring heists. It's fun to play metagames within the game. Exploiting different cheeky ways to steal loot from people and do fun things in game is a big appeal to me.

I think some more endgame elements where there are barriers to entry to certain high-tier loot areas would be fun.

[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?

[A]: Reaching one million subscribers on YouTube was something I never expected to do! I remember looking at huge channels when I only had a few hundred subs, just wondering how it happens.

[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?

[A]: It’s a nickname I had as a kid, and was my name in most games as I grew up.

[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?

[A]: Make videos that you would want to watch. You should be your own biggest fan. And always try to improve over time – if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse!

[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?

[A]: Be satisfied with what you’re doing. Always try to do new things and improve your content. If you think what you’ve done will work forever and you start to get complacent, someone else will improve on what you’re doing.

[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?

[A]: I was a competitive battle rapper for a few years!
