    *1 Year Ago I made a very successful post-launch poll here on the forum, which helped guage what the SoT community wished for for future content. 1 year later most of what the community voted for has been implemented in the game!!!

    Now that the Anniversary update is in, I would like to guage again where the community would like the future of SoT to go, and while I can't tally votes again, my hope is that clear community favorites will emerge in the thread below.

  • GROW: HEAD SOUTH EAST! Trading Companies
    - I would like to see the original 3 trading companies re-evaluated and expanded upon, so that each company provides unique gameplay distinct from other companies, and plays less repetitively

    NEW: HEAD NORTH! Ship Captaincy
    - This was a feature in the original post-launch roadmap for SoT, and I think the game is ready now for it. I would like to see the Devs take, but my vision of this includes Ship Naming, In depth Hull Unique Customization, Display of Trophies / Player History etc.

    An overhaul to the combat system is a must, ship combat is near perfect now with the addition of damage to wheels and masts, player combat needs a huge focus now with new melee weapon types, change to the way loadouts work and more fluid skill based combat with different directions of sword swings, different sword attack types such as stab and slash and the ability to duck and dive out of the way of oncoming attacks.

    Basic crafting system:

    A new crafting table on the ship and at outposts offering the ability to combine various items into more powerful single use items, for example combining 3 planks of wood into a reinforced plank of wood which offers increased defence to a repaired part of the ship. Also combining 3 types of fruit into a fruit salad which will give the fruit the same health regen meat has. Also new cursed totems could be found in the world and be able to be combined with cannonballs to craft cursed cannonballs.

  • GROW SOUTH WEST: Exploration. I would like in particular more sailing type obstacles such as whirlpools, water spouts, and rogue waves. Something that makes sailing more interesting and fun because of the challenge. I dont mean like volcanoes that have aimbot and instantly murdering everything in range. I mean something that cannn wreck you if you’re not paying attention but not something that will like one shot you.

    NEW NORTH: Captaincy. I would like to add more of a unique feel to the ship. Like i want to feel like this ship is mine and that i will fight to the death to keep my ship a float. Right now yeah you have you customizations but it’s just not enough i guess. I think when ever you start a ship and the crew join. There should be an option in the my crew settings to vote for a captain and then that captain and their customizations and trophies they earned are then displayed in the captains quarters. Obviously if there is a tie then no captain and it really wont impact game flow. But with my crew im pretty much accepted as the captain and leader of the ship so i would appreciate this option very much so.

  • NEW ship captaincy
    i would like to name the ship, and when a player approaches the ship it pops up like when you approach an island for the first time, but only once.

    GROW exploration
    i would like to see some of the art book islands that didnt make it, or even a ferry of the dammed area.and some new weather, maybe, even more, fiercer storm with whirlpools and hailstones.

    i think its important that the traders get revamped so high level voyages arent giving low level rewards

    Idk about grow. They all seem like welcomed additions.

  • GROW: South West Exploration
    Mealstroms and more storms and a better experience on islands, such as frequent actual traps or more islands, big ones that require some kind of gameplay. I want this to be the case for one day in the future for more ships in adventure mode instead of 6 max. These things would make Arena maps more interesting as well.

    NEW: South West New Map Regions
    A new map region can give way to new sea threats and stuff from my previous choice. I actually want more challenge and more Adventure in adventure mode, increase the size of it and allow more ships per server. Making simply sailing and looking around the horizon have something interesting in your path always.

    CHEATING: But i do want more weapons as well...

    Crew games: I’m the taverns, including sea dogs, and in the ship.

  • @shoothere4exp Grow: south west, the idea of charting new islands and exploring them is awesome! (i know you should pick one but fishing would awesome also)

    New: player factions, join together with your friends into a faction, gather loot and put it into your Treasury. protect your loot, and steal other's loot.

  • GROW SOUTHWEST: Exploration, I would love to see more islands, land features, sea features, like whirlpools or monster waves.

    NEW NORTH: would love to see new ships added as well as new options with our ships.

  • @shoothere4exp I am curious to know how pirate cities/hideouts would work? But I like this idea with pirate factions

    Also more Exploration on islands, like traps and stuff would be neat

    However, I think they are already adding a potion shop next

  • GROW EAST I really want the fight more than just Skeletons, the Kraken and Megs all the time, give us new A.I threats like an imperial navy or something like that.

    NEW NORTH EAST I want to have pirate havens, proper pirate towns and our own hideouts to build and customise, because we all have at least 500.000 gold coins in our pockets.

  • For Grow, I vote we head South East. It would do the existing community and potential new players much good if it felt like reaching Pirate Legend in one of the original three Trading Companies didn't feel like an endless grind of the same-old at times. On top of that, the Merchant's Alliance has been begging for a rework, since it's been the least favorite of the three since day one; cargo runs haven't improved things by much.

    As for New, I vote Southwest. I know Ship Captaincy is very high on peoples' lists, but I honestly think the first thing we should do is ensure an abundance more of adventures to be had. New map regions also ties in with many other elements under the "Grow" category, such as Exploration and expanding on Fishing.

  • Not really in favor of Rare listening to player suggestions ever again. It took them an entire year to work the game back into something worth playing for most people all because of player suggestions.

  • Armoury and Crew Games are at the top of my list. =)

  • A.I. Threats
    I have an extensive (and excessive) post on improvements to skeleton ships alone, which has expanded to more than that too. It goes over cursed cannonballs, map regions, new threats and interactions between them all, and more.

    Expanded ship choices
    There are so many different types of ships which already existed from around the world, and so many more concepts which never have. Most of these could feasibly be thrown into the Sea of Thieves, on journeys just like the ones of the crews already there.
    A very, and I mean VERY unlikely thing would be the designing of custom ships. They would need some serious restrictions, but imagine the possibilities. I've seen a great many custom ship ideas people have had, ranging from submarine-like creations and ships that can fly to impressive behemoths capable of leveling islands. So many possibilities, and with the proper restrictions and monitoring, it would improve the gameplay experience of every dedicated pirate on the Sea of Thieves.

    A ships log detailing the voyage the ship has undertaken would be nice. Who was on the crew/ islands vistited / treasure found/turned in / Encounters etc

  • Honestly, most of these ideas are just more things that could make the experience better but not necessarily expand the content. Since I think the game is good as is, I say anything with content expansion. New Areas and monster/enemies.

  • One of the most important things for me its made the game more persistent, now its to much battle royale, it's has this feeling of be to cheap product, like a f2p game, to much simple and that's not good. We need a way to make the SoT world more consistent with the posibility to make our character be part of the world and not just enter into and instance in a server... this is a rpg game not a battle royale. when you don't have this ilusion to be part of the real fantasy you feel like your are playing a game not being part of an story... i hate the arena for that reason, it's feel to much plastic with no real meaning to the lore and the magic of the world... maybe if we have the arena in the real world like some kind of stadium in one of the edge of the map it would be better, but in this stage... SoT it's not more than a lobby game, so sad... NMS learn from this and make his game more MMORPG'ISH... why SoT can't do this, maybe becase internet and the world it's full of water head kids with need of insta gratification and the mature audience are less...

    if i had to pick tho ship captaincy is high on my list and could help with the economy too. on the other side i say add to the trading companies. i literally have no reason to do the original three at all. i basically do bilge rat stuff and now the new stuff. give ppl lvl 50 a reason to do those things. maybe some optimum currency with them? maybe some slowish grindy way to unlock more cosmetics linked to them? maybe the ability to do some cool unique missions that help others but you can only unlock it at 50. like for gold hoarders you become one of their agents and you can give other pirates gold missions and if they complete them you get a percentage or you can unlock peoples chests lower than captain status and it gives 3 times the money to all of you idk haha.
